Despite that, they charged me an additional $300 for "late notice," even though this kind of timeline is extremely common in real estate transactions and often outside the client's control. Overall, the extra charge felt unnecessary and unfair, especially considering the amount already paid.

The home decor styles they have here are definitely my taste but above my current budget. If you're hunting for some random furniture or interesting wall pieces I would definitely recommend hitting this shop if you're in the area.

Bet you didn't know they did re-upholstery, did you? Neither did I until City Issue referred me to them. Apparently they do some of City Issue's mid century modern furniture re-upholstery. For starters I bought this absolutely gorgeous mid century Dux chair that was covered in this hideous stained fabric that I knew I could get redone to look more period; the price was good so I had to buy it. After I bought the chair I had an email convo with one of the designers to get a quote for my chair and ottoman. I provided her with pictures and dimensions. She gave me the quote, $350 which isn't that much considering the front and back needed to be replaced as well as the ottoman. She also asked me to come in and pick a fabric. They have loads of fabrics to choose from; all styles and all price ranges. They also will let you bring in your own fabric, which is what I did (I bought my fabric at Lewis and Sheron). They quoted me a time of when my chair would be ready. I picked it up when it was done and my jaw dropped. My chair was now pimped out and bad ass. They did a wonderful job and I am so happy that I used Nandina. That chair is now my seating pride and joy. *I will post some pictures when I get around to taking them.

Our search for a bedroom suite has been a massive fail. We've found stuff we liked at Macy's and Haverty's, but it seemed to be furniture that wouldn't last for years and years. When we walked in to Drexel, our heads were hung. We were tired, overwhelmed, and disappointed. How could a bedroom suite cost $3500 for a bed, dresser, and one night stand, especially when it was poorly made and looks like what everyone else and their brother has in their house? And then we walked upstairs. Ah, Drexel. We love you. Here's why: fantastic quality furniture with custom colors and fabrics and the best staff you ever did see. So let's talk about Terry Morgan. What a star. I felt like we were long lost friends after talking to him for two seconds. He really sold me on the quality of the woodwork and the ability to create a custom look for my home. He was supportive of my differing ideas of what we're looking for (are we british colonial? shabby chic? country coastal? argh!). He described Drexel's FREE service of having their designers go to your home, check out your space, and work with you to design something awesome. Most importantly, he was open about price and not pushy at all. Yes, Drexel is more expensive than Haverty's, Ethan Allen, and the rest of them. But if you look carefully at the sale price at Drexel vs. the sale price at Haverty's, its really not that much more expensive (maybe $500 more?). More importantly, compare the quality of Drexel's furniture to its competitors and you will see the drastic difference and why its worth it just to pay a little more. Drexel's furniture will last for lifetimes. Would I do my entire house from Drexel? Probably not due to the expense. But I do believe that there are some pieces of furniture where its worth it to make the investment. If you're looking for a quality piece of furniture that is unique and doesn't look like what everyone else has, please, go here and ask for Terry. You won't be sorry.
