I have been EVERYWHERE in Atlanta looking for furniture. From IKEA to Haverty's, Ethan Allen to Restoration Hardware, to even Target and Pier 1. Our search for a bedroom suite has been a massive fail. We've found stuff we liked at Macy's and Haverty's, but it seemed to be furniture that wouldn't last for years and years. When we walked in to Drexel, our heads were hung. We were tired, overwhelmed, and disappointed. How could a bedroom suite cost $3500 for a bed, dresser, and one night stand, especially when it was poorly made and looks like what everyone else and their brother has in their house? And then we walked upstairs. Ah, Drexel. We love you. Here's why: fantastic quality furniture with custom colors and fabrics and the best staff you ever did see. So let's talk about Terry Morgan. What a star. I felt like we were long lost friends after talking to him for two seconds. He really sold me on the quality of the woodwork and the ability to create a custom look for my home. He was supportive of my differing ideas of what we're looking for (are we british colonial? shabby chic? country coastal? argh!). He described Drexel's FREE service of having their designers go to your home, check out your space, and work with you to design something awesome. Most importantly, he was open about price and not pushy at all. Yes, Drexel is more expensive than Haverty's, Ethan Allen, and the rest of them. But if you look carefully at the sale price at Drexel vs. the sale price at Haverty's, its really not that much more expensive (maybe $500 more?). More importantly, compare the quality of Drexel's furniture to its competitors and you will see the drastic difference and why its worth it just to pay a little more. Drexel's furniture will last for lifetimes. Would I do my entire house from Drexel? Probably not due to the expense. But I do believe that there are some pieces of furniture where its worth it to make the investment. Drexel Heritage is the most overpriced store in Atlanta. Our experience was terrible at the end. After ordering over $30,000 worth of custom furniture, we waited six months for it to be delivered. Our salesperson kept telling us it would be delivered "next week". "Next week" turned into "next month" and then another "next month". He never knew exactly when it was completed at the factory, and told us he had no way of checking the status of the order. We had to keep following up ourselves. Once they have your money - up front - they forget about you. When we finally got the order six months later, it was awful - NOTHING matched even though we were told it would. The couch was horrible. The story manager - Mary Kennedy - came out to our house to look at it. She even admitted it didn't work. After much discussion and wasted time (she could never make a decsion on her own, she has to call corporate); they agreed to take it back and swap it out for a used couch that had been on the floor. No apologies. Nothing but the runaround. To this date, we still have not received the glass table we ordered over 7 months ago, and no word from Terry Morgan, the designer who ordered it. Customer service does not exist after the order is placed and money received. Drexel Heritage is owned by a large conglomerate in the Midwest. They own Thomasville and Henredon. They could less about the customer after the order placed. Beware savvy consumer. You can do better than Drexel Heritage. read more

I ordered a $5000 bed from Drexel Heritage (the Belle Maison "Bed of Ribbon") in 2013. It has only been 2 years and last week my bed collapsed, completely splintering down the middle. Drexel advertises that all of their beds are "hand crafted" and I waited about 6 months for my bed to arrive, but after getting my mattress removed, I could clearly see a sticker along the side of the frame that said "Made in China." The entire bedframe was made of cheap particle board. I am absolutely FURIOUS. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! read more

This store is beautiful and massive. Great selection in a beautiful setting. The best of all is Terry. He knows his furniture and is so helpful and has a wealth of experience and knowledge. If you go to this store, make sure you see Terry. We visited from out of town, but we would definitely go back to visit with Terry. I will never buy another piece of Drexel Heritage furniture again. There was an IT glitch and our initial order was not processed until I called to "check in". Our furniture arrived with dents and dings across the front/bottom, a major dent in the door, two rips across the back and a drawer that wouldn't close. One store manager told me it was typical for furniture to be damaged. She said they normally touch it up before delivery so the customer doesn't even know it was damaged! To top it off the delivery men scuffed my walls and the repairman scratched my hardwoods. When I asked if I could just return the unit the store manager told me I would have to pay a 40% restocking fee. I guess they were going to restock our damaged furniture? A major disappointment from what I thought was a reputable company. read more

Horrible customer service at Drexel Heritage at Perimeter. We purchased a bedroom set for my daughter in the linen color. After waiting 8 weeks for delivery, the bed and desk were linen and the night stand and dresser were green. It took them 3 weeks to come out to our house to validate the two different colors. Their solution was to give us substitute furniture, take the wrong color furniture to their factory in NC and dye it the correct color. This will take another 6 weeks. They refused to compensate us in any way for our troubles. Their response is to say read the contract. All they have to do is rectify the situation. So, hopefully, after 4 months of waiting, the furniture will all be the same color and not banged up after being transported back and forth to NC and worked on. The manager at this store is clueless when it comes to customer service. I advise against shopping at this store. I have been told that the manager's response reflects the opinion of corporate management on how a situation like this handled. There is another review on this site that describes this as quality furniture. I have to disagree. There are no end stops on the drawers and they are cheaply made. read more

First, let me say that I am not reviewing the Atlanta store location but Drexel Heritage itself as a company. Three years ago we purchased the Conley leather sectional from a Drexel Heritage store in High Point, NC. First, it took over 4 months to receive the piece from Drexel Heritage, which was more than 4 weeks beyond what they promised. Second, after we had it for less than a year, the frame had to be repaired due to separation of the unit. The store did accommodate us and fix it at no cost to us-so that was fine. Now, 2 years later the leather has completely cracked and become discolored in several places. I contacted Drexel Heritage directly because the store that we purchased the sectional from has actually gone out of business. The company has informed us that the warranty on leather is 1 year-no matter what. So we are out of luck. They didn't even offer us a small company credit and refused to assist in repairing the leather damage. For a company that promotes itself as a high end furniture manufacturer, I would expect more. I would expect for the money that we spent (and it was A LOT) that my sectional would last at least 7-10 years. Hopefully more. That was why we were willing to spend the money that the sectional cost. Instead, in 3 years time, the frame had to be repaired and the leather did not hold up. It says a lot that they only warranty their leather for 1 year. Simply, the company knows that the furniture is not going to last much longer and they don't want to be held responsible when it fails. I will never buy another Drexel Heritage piece and would highly recommend that if you are considering Drexel Heritage, you think again. It maybe once was a high end furniture manufacturer located in NC but it is now owned by Furniture Brands International and their quality of furniture is poor. Save yourself money and shop somewhere else and if you do decide to buy from Drexel Heritage....make sure you know what the warranty is and be comfortable with how short the time frame is. read more

i purchased a sectional july 2009, it was delieverd oct. 2009 and was defective. it never sat like the one in the showroom. i called right away, they sent someone, this person ordered new cushions. it took 3 months and they didn't solve the problem. after waiting 2-3 months to see if they would "break in" we called again. this went on and they continued to stall us saying they would fix it or refund our money. the manager that promised that is no longer working there and i was told they don't have to honor what we were promised. finally i was told i could order another replacement sectional but then was told because we had use of it for 2 years that we would only be given an in store credit for the amount we spent and since the couch went up in price 1000.00 if we wanted them to remake it we would have to pay them that extra money. i was finally fed up and asked for my money back. they refused. i have a couch we have been extremely uncomfortable in for 2 years being strung along with empty promises. i never wanted this to go on this long. i just thought i was being patient and i believed them. i do not want any of their furniture b/c the quality is awful. i spent almost 5000.00 for a couch to ensure that it would last me a good 15 years and it has not even lasted these 2 years. the back cushions will not hold their shape. we are told to "fluff" them. i have and it lasts until someone sits down. the cushions feel rock hard, and feathers are constantly poking at us and coming out. the fabric on the cushions will not stay straight and this couch looks 15 years old. i would never recommend this furniture company. they have taken advantage of me and i am left with a couch that no one wants to sit on. they want me to pay the extra money for another couch that might be just as defective. they are out of their minds. this is terrible customer service. i advise anyone to RUN from this company. they do not stand by their product. they sell defective product. they lie. read more
