6/5/2023 I was in an accident. My car was not totaled out but instead sent to Fineline Collision in Chicago Ridge, IL were it sat for 3 weeks with no parts or work being done! Christine Mastruzo has made this entire ordeal as traumatizing as the accident itself!! This company does not communicate, has NEVER given me paperwork with regard to what exactly was quoted, repaired, or paid! Instead I have been chasing them around and being lied to and treated as a piece of gum under their shoe! My car was not repaired to what it was prior to the accident!! I FINALLY got it back 8/10/2023 and while following my daughter to drop off the rental, the transmission went out!!! I had to have it towed back, out of pocket, to Fineline Collision! 8/11/2023, 8:28am Mark from Fineline called to say he "fixed" the problem! Now keep in mind that while Fineline had my vehicle I couldn't easily get ahold of anyone to get status updates nor did Christine from Unique keep me up to date! Christine called me today to say that they sent another adjuster out and my car was fine and ready for pickup! My car now has a low humming noise and pulls to the right. I wasn't reimbursed for the tow as promised and have yet to receive a return call to address my request for a 2nd opinion from another collision repair company!! Instead I get sent to voicemail or the complete run around by both Christine at Unique and Fineline! I need a good lawyer who can get compensation for my deductible, tow expenses, and car rental, OUT OF POCKET, PLUS emotional distress!! This company has NO transparency in their business dealings!! I, too, had one of their insureds ram my car, receive TWO citations for same, and STILL deny full responsibility for damages and DV on my SUV! Unique says they will only pay 70% of the repairs because, according to them, I could have prevented the accident! Total and complete fabrication. They also refused any payout of diminished value ($1200) despite what an independent appraiser told them by certified letter. After consulting an attorney, it turns out the best way to sue them (since they are in Illinois, not Georgia), is filing a suit against the insured who does live in Georgia. Unfortunately, the sheriff could not find him at his address! Not sure what to do next, but if there ever is a class action lawsuit, please do count me in! Actually shocked that this company still exists. One of their drivers with an awful driving record (which we found out about when we had to attend his court hearing) slammed into my wife, who was seven months pregnant and began to experience early contractions. After multiple hospital visits they were able to get contractions to stop. The driver admitted total fault, including profusely apologizing in tears to me blaming his brakes for failing. After calling our own insurance, we were advised to go through them as Unique was awful, however I did call them and they initially wanted me to go to some sketchy body shop that was most likely a chop shop. We ended up having to take Unique to court as well as our own insurance to deal with thousands in medical bills as well as the damage to the vehicle and deductible, and this took years. They even convinced their client to completely change his story and blame my wife, going against his own prior testimony, the traffic records and the evidence. None of this worked, but what should have been a simple process to get our repairs and medical hardship covered took nearly three years because Unique is such a fraudulent, awful company. There's a reason most of their insured drivers are the kind you wouldn't want to be anywhere near on the road. Their policies are worth less than the paper they're printed on. On January 27th, 2018 my car was struck by a drunk driver insured by UNIQUE insurance company. And immediately thereafter my NIGHTMARE began!!!! I only purchased the car one month before from Carmax, a 2013 Mercedes Benz e350 with less than 43k miles n not a scratch on it!!!! After not hearing from anyone at UNIQUE INSURANCE company for one month, I took it upon myself to get my car repaired thinking it wouldn't be a problem getting reimbursed for my out of pocket expenses!!!! BIG MISTAKE!!! A year n six months later, and $2100 in repairs, UNIQUE INSURANCE company hasn't reimbursed me one dime!!! After numerous messages and attempts at trying to get someone to answer the phone or return my phone calls, my case was finally assigned an agent, Christine Mastruzzo. She asked me to provide photos n receipts of all repairs I thought a very fair request. After supplying those things she made me a low balling offer of $215.57, which I rejected!!!! The officer at the scene even thought the damages would exceed $2000 as he indicated on the accident report. After several months and further review, the company made me a 2nd offer which they described as a good faith offer of $874.53, which I rejected!!!! Not even half of my out of pocket expenses from an accident that was in no way any fault of my own. After not hearing from Christine Mastruzzo I filed a case against UNIQUE INSURANCE company with the Illinois Department of Insurance. Well that didn't turn out well for me either, after they fabricating the truth on dates of telephone calls and content of conversations, I was ruled against. The Illinois Department of Insurance couldn't force UNIQUE INSURANCE company to pay me any specific amount. That's when it became apparently clear to me this is what this insurance company does!!!! So, on July 29, 2020, after a year I sent Christine Mastruzzo an email requesting a fair settlement and resolution to this matter. So, to her credit she called me back in a timely manner, yesterday, August 5, 2020, and informed the $874.53 was their final offer. So, after rejecting the offer again, I decided to share my experience with UNIQUE INSURANCE company on yelp!!!! This is the worst company to deal with for car insurance. I was talked into using them when I got another car and it would be nice if they could speak clear English and listen to the customer. I was never sent a payment schedule and had been paying on the same time every month from the date I got insurance. So when I go to pay today I am charged a late fee when I thought I was in the five day grace period. I am told on the phone that my payment date is on the 13th of the month but that was never sent to me as a payment schedule or in my paperwork that was emailed to me. I try to explain this and all they do is repeat the same thing over and over, not even hearing my complaint. I don't recommend anyone use these people! read more

I was hit by one of their customers in 10-28-21. I placed the claim and was given the name and number of my claims adjuster. I have left many messages with no return calls. They sent me forms to write out what happened. I tried to email the forms back to the email address on the letter. Email was rejected as a bad address. Called her boss, same thing. I have waited seven weeks for approval of my vehicle damaged by Unique insurance. One of their drivers backed out of a parking space and damaged my vehicle from front to back on one side. I call Sandra Robles the adjuster and do not get a response. This is terrible service. I understand this is standard operating procedure for this company and everybody knows it. 8-26-20 At about 4AM we all were asleep peacefully and I heard a Loud crashing noise. I get up to see and open the window to yell to the guy " You Good?" And then realize he hit my sisters parked car!! I'm still in the window. I look over to the right and see my parked car Smashed and I about freaked out. I was in shock. Then I see the neighbor run out with her phone recording it all. I'm on the phone with 911 and Dude gets in his car and starts it up and tries to put it in gear and hits the gas!!! At this point I have a good view and have not made it outside yet. He tried 2-3 times to speed away. He also go out and tried to push his car and it wouldn't move. Not only did he hit Mine and my sister's car he took off the back wheel of the neighbor's parked SUV!!!!! I have plenty of pictures and they are shocking. We have been dealing with His insurance company and they are not good. They told us there is not enough funds to fix all 3 cars!!! WHAT!!!! OHh nooooo noooo noooo they need to fix it all. I would rate this company a zero star if possible!! One of their insurance personal side sweep my wife after running a red light and now its been over a month and they have yet to communicate. we are being forced to drive a rental and pay out of my own pocket because they are not communicate. I took the car to their body shop (which had 2.3 starts on yelp) and even they are not able to get a hold of anyone at unique insurance. THIS COMPANY IS TERRIBLE!!!! I was rear ended by their insured on the expressway and had to go to the hospital over a MONTH ago and filed a claim that same day. NOBODY has returned my calls. I was rear ended by a motorist insured with Unique. I definitely get the sense that they cater to those who cannot easily get insurance (i.e. people with DUI' s or other violations.) So I was rear ended by one of unique drivers on 6-29-19. I have been calling for over two months and the person handling my case Yolanda Arellano has not returned any of my phone calls even thou I have been calling every day. She sends me a letter stating I have not made my car available for inspection but I did take to one of there places who refused to give an estimate because I would not do the work there. I informed someone at unique and they said take it some where else which I did and sent the amount on the paper they sent to fill out. But of course no one will return my calls. I wish I could give 0 stars. This company is a complete joke. As I read through previous reviews, I'm reminded of my exact situation. A Unique Insured driver hit my parked car back in September. I was not there when the accident happened but there was a police report filed and the driver admitted fault. Fast forward to February and I'm still dealing with this awful insurance company. I received the claim number pretty quickly and was sent to an auto body shop for an estimate. After that, I did not hear back from my "adjuster," Christina, even after multiple attempts to contact her. Whenever I call, I get her voicemail. In her voicemail it states not to leave multiple voicemail messages.......very professional. I had to call and email SEVERAL times and threaten taking legal action to get any response. At first she stated that they could not get in contact with their client for a statement. I waited again. Tried contacting them and heard nothing. She finally called me back after more emails and calls and said she needs me to follow up with her because they have the finalized estimate. First I heard of that. I finally get the estimate for the damages to my car and it is only a portion of what the actually damages are according to the repair shop. Christina called me back and basically yelled at me. Would not let me finish speaking. She stated that she has 500 customers and I am not her only one. If one person has 500 customers, maybe they need to hire more help. Said she was "disconnecting" the phone with me. She provided the name and number of her manager but I doubt I will have an easy time getting a hold of him either.I've called twice to complain about the treatment I've experienced by Christina.  I am expecting a baby any day and I'm still dealing with this awful joke of a company who claims to provide insurance for people. If you're considering using Unique Insurance, DON'T! I don't know how they have an A+ rating on BBB. They are a complete scam. So...here is the end of my story. Unique insurance did NOT pay a penny for our car on the grounds of "unclear accident circumstances" (of course, the police report did not count). Ended up paying 2k for repair (thanks to a great Russian mechanic who did a GREAT job), 1k for rental car and some other expenses, we finally got our car back in June. I wanted to file a lawsuit against the "insured" and against unique insurance, but! to open a civil law suit case will run you about 300+$ and Unique is pretty good at providing lawyers for its defense. We just couldn't afford to continue the fight. I created a facebook page dedicated to the "greatness" of Unique insurance with a hope that one day the government would notice their beyond shady practices and will close them FOR GOOD! You may only see a handful here, but there are over 60 additional horrible experiences that Yelp is filtering out. I cannot begin to describe what a nightmare it was to deal with this company. Their insured hit us. Totaled the car. Unique refused to pay the storage (the car was not driveable) or the towing to get it out of storage. The car sat in our driveway for MONTHS before they finally wore us down with their pitiful offer. At that point, we were (almost) grateful to have received ANYTHING, and took it so that we could just be done. There is special place in hell for employees of this company... Unique Insurance will see you in court, regardless of what side you're on. With their incredibly bad customer and claimant service--which is slow, dismissive, aggressively, illiterately rude, and transparently constructed of BS designed to confuse and frustrate anyone trying to get them to do anything that costs them money--they force claimants to take the only avenue available to them, which is to sue the insured directly (which is what I'm doing). They don't care at all, because they use every loophole in the book to avoid paying for anything or going to court for their customers. They make the rest of the insurance industry look generous, antruistic, and personable. Avoid at all costs, and if one of their insured damages something of yours, consider finding religion. read more

It's been since early October that my claim had been reported to Unique Auto Insurance and here I am, January 3rd and still waiting for this claimed to be handled. I've only done everything that they've asked, keys to to the stolen vehicle, all paperwork pertaining to the purchase and I was even requested to provide a copy of my cellphone records and I'm still waiting. For anyone thinking of using this insurance company to protect your vehicle, please do your due diligence and find another company to work with. If I can give -15 stars, I sooo would. Unique Insurance definitely lives up to its name. Unique in the way that they provide absolutely NO customer service whatsoever. After one of their customers hit my rear bumper and put some nasty nasty booboos on it, it took them two weeks to give me an estimate, even after I called them day after day. They don't like to answer phone calls either apparently. Every time I have called I was put on hold for no less than 15 minutes. When someone does answer, they insist they have to connect me to someone that's handling my claim. After they connect me, the person I'm suppose to talk to is NEVER there. I've left messages after messages and not once have they returned my call. When I finally got a hold of the dumb broad that was handling my claim she "promised" me she would call me back within the hour. And guess what? Yup, she didn't. I FINALLY got to take my car in for repair like a month after the whole incident. And now, my car is done and it looks great. However, I can't pick it up from the body shop because stupid Unique hasn't called the body shop to confirm that they're going to pay for the repairs, and they were the ones who sent me there. All they do is provide the standard SR22 insurance so the driver is covered - but if they hit someone, the insurance means nothing. *****DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY******.. I've had Unique insurance for about 13 years. This company is TERRIBLE. It took me to have my 2nd accident, which was a blessing in disguise to leave them. The guy who hit me from behind, had Unique insurance also. You would think, it wouldn't be any problems sense we are both "under" the same insurance---WRONG! Long story short, I had the worst time getting my car fixed and getting reimburse for my rental car. No one returned any of my calls. I ended up going up there SEVERAL times until I got some answers. Now, they are refusing to pay for my chriopractor visit (remind you, someone hit me). This is a 8 months later.. The orginal claim adjuster got fired. I went up there and the "new" adjuster told me "we don't care how long you were with us" that's when I went OFF! So, they threaten to call the police and the claims guy was shook up from my reponse.. Oh well! Thank God for the last accident.. I switched to Geico-no complaints so far.. Someone with Unique rear-ended me back in May. I still probably wouldn't have my car repaired if I hadn't gone through my own insurance. My insurance is going to court to get the money back for the repairs, including my deductible. Unique does everything they can to drag out the process and hope that they can get out of paying the claim. This is a shady, awful business. If only I could avoid dealing with them... but you can't choose what insurance a person that hits you has. I hope the Better Business Bureau can get involved and shut this place down. read more

Just an update. I let my insurance company handle this to the bitter end. I fixed my car paying my deductible out of pocket - $500 ouch. State Farm did not let them off the hook, even though Unique continued to dodge their calls, letters and eventually arbitration. It took 1.5 years to settle this - and I finally got my deductible back. Lessons learned - do not bother with them whatsoever. Go straight to your insurance company to handle for you. It's not worth it to deal with them. They will ignore you and they have terrible service. And if you're thinking of signing up with them - don't do it! Your car will NEVER be fixed and you're basically paying them for nothing. read more
