This is my first yelp review. I'm writing this because I've received the absolute worst haircut of my life here. I went to see Carlos, who appears to be a nicer elderly gentleman. As nice as he is, he shouldn't be a barber. While I was getting my hair cut, I could tell that his hands have a noticeable shake to them. He is unable to cut hair in a smooth fashion due to that constant shake. I asked for a simple line to be cut into my hair but instead he absolutely butchered it. The line was about a half inch wide, completely uneven, and didn't even follow the existing hairline. (See first photo). After seeing enough, I asked Carlos to stop and called over AJ to see if he could fix my hair (see second photo). He was very apologetic and worked his hardest to try and salvage my hair. So we stop at the closest barbershop in the mall, which is "United Barber". I ask for a mid fade. I have braids and to which the man cutting my hair asks "0 here?" Pointing to right under my braids. We go back and forth for a second really trying for the imagery in my vocabulary. But I just showed him a picture and he said he understood. I watched him do exactly what HE said originally and I was irate. After he was done I was visibly angered by what I considered a messed up haircut. I went there sometime last winter and I had forgotten to write a review. I simply asked to get my bangs trimmed and the experience was bizarre and abysmal. They got an assistant/trainee barber to cut my bangs but he was unattended and they did not effectively communicate to him how long my bangs were meant to be trimmed. It took a long time. One time he had dropped the scissors on the floor but continued cutting with it, and I could feel his hands shaking/quivering when cutting my hair. He clearly didn't know what he was doing. After a while, they actually had to switch him out with a different barber, who accidentally hit me in the head with a hair dryer. The cut was bloody good (and I mean literally!) While the cut was fine for me, I unfortunately experienced multiple cuts from the barber on my neck because of there sharp blade. Because of this, I'm a little bit in pain and it's a shame for what the service was given. The price was $25. The barbershop is located on the second floor, next to Lord & Taylor. I went there on a Monday evening and only had a couple of people ahead of me. A.J. was a very helpful man, and gave me a couple of suggestions. He always asked for my opinion and didnt hesitate to make the changes I requested. He made sure I got the cut I wanted. They dont shampoo your hair and I feel they can do more in dusting off all the hair from your face. $25 + tip for a cut in the mall is pretty much what I expected. read more

Good place for a basic cut. I had the pleasure of sitting in Hasan's chair (nearest the entrance). The cut I received (scissor and clippers) is just as good as the one I receive from my regular DC barber...who charges more than TWICE as much! Unless you like getting your haircut by someone who does not listen to any instructions and proceeds to cut 2-3x the amount you wanted, do not go here. The person who cut my hair was short with me and did not listen to my requests. I even tried to navigate how much I wanted during the haircut, but it was like I was on mute or somthing. I like to keep my hair some what long in the front, at least over my eye brows, but while getting my bangs trimmed I was told to "close my eyes." I don't know why I listened to the request, and I now realize it was to get me to stop giving comments on how I wanted my hair cut. I open my eyes to see my hair is about 2 inches above my eye brows. Before it was about 3 below. I gave clear instructions to keep it at or below my eyes brows. I now have to wear a hat for the next 2-4 months because of the barber who simply would not listen to me. Also, the cut was done in about 5 minutes; to me, that shows the barber did not care and wanted me to be out of there as soon as possible. I will never be going here again. read more

I'm an east asian teen that needed a hair cut because this place was the closest to where I was. It went perfectly, I showed the barber the hairstyle I wanted and he immediately understood. He literally cut my hair exactly how I wanted just based on the image I showed alone. In fact, I loved the haircut so much I drove across multiple states to come back to this place to get a second haircut a few weeks later. This time it was a completely different barber. I thought to myself "okay, i'm not so sure about this" but because of how well his hair was styled I thought that it might go fine. I was wrong, I showed the man a picture that clearly shows everything I want, a low fade and a slight trim on my middle part. He completely ignores the photo and doesn't give me a fade, instead cuts my hair flat, shaves off my widows peak. While he was cutting my hair he kept pressing an air dryer against my skin causing me pain and I clearly tell him it hurts. The guy who gave me a shave didn't even give me a proper cleanse after trimming. Pretty basic services for what they're charging.
