ZERO STARS. Below is the complaint I filed with the FMCSA (https://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/). I also filed consumer complaints with Attorney Generals in NV, CA, ID, and WY. I received an estimate of $5000 plus fuel charge to move 8 hours away. After paying a $2500 deposit, I expected to pay the remaining balance at delivery. They had a complete inventory list before arriving. When they came, they surveyed my apartment and began loading the truck. Midway through, they stopped loading and stacked items outside the truck. I thought they were organizing. After wrapping and removing everything from my home, the lead mover claimed I had double the listed amount and that the cost would increase. My neighbors' cars were blocked, and my belongings were left outside. Feeling cornered, I agreed to load my stuff onto the truck. He then presented paperwork showing the new total was $10,000. I protested, explaining I didn't have $10,000. He said I could pay the original estimate, to which I agreed. However, at delivery, they demanded the full $10,000. I refused, reminding them of the agreement to pay the estimate, which I had already overpaid. I also found discrepancies in the inventory list and wanted to verify each item as it came off the truck. They refused my request to check the inventory. Also, this was a different company! When I asked for their company name, they said "Arthur Moving." I asked for phone number, they declined. They called their supervisor, and after a brief conversation off speaker, they told me my belongings would be taken to Los Angeles. I took a picture of the truck, which was only half full, and informed them I would file a complaint. Shortly after, I received a call from 818-208-9111 saying the truck was heading to Wyoming instead and asked when I would pick up my belongings. I told him I would do so after filing my complaint. He snarkily said, "Ok, you do that" and hung up on me. Turns out the delivery company was called Cross Country Relocation. The one star of this review is only because zero isn't an option. This company is a disgrace. Their services were employed to move a shipment from Rhode Island to a remote village in Alaska. The constraints of the move were established and repeated multiple times prior to pickup. They contracted a carrier, who then subcontracted to a third party. It has been over three months since the move, and the shipment is still sitting in a warehouse in Tacoma. The carrier has no clue how to get the shipment from Tacoma to Alaska and has essentially said, "Good luck, we don't have any options," after trying to extort more money to complete the trip. They are the epitome of incompetence and dishonesty. The refusal to connect customers with a supervisor is a blatant disregard for customer service. I have called over 25 times, requesting to speak with a supervisor or receive a call back, and I have only spoken to her once. She assured me of a call back, which never happened. The cycle of calling and being lied to is endless. THEY WILL STEAL YOUR MONEY, HOLD YOUR POSSESSIONS HOSTAGE, AND NOT DELIVER THEM. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS. IT IS A COMPLETE AND UTTER SCAM. UPDATE: NEGATIVE STARS Customer Service seems to get worst and worst. The one and only customer service rep, Naty/Natalie (I've called several times in the past 3 weeks and she is the only one who picks up) is extremely incompetent and is "unable" to escalate my feedback/concerns to her manager, Gaby (who apparently has no last name). As mentioned below, after several follow ups to Naty/UCM I finally received an email to submit a claim to a third party system. The third party system asks to input the mover's legal name and reference the name on the bill of lading if needed. Never once in my calls with UCM, in emails, or in the bill of lading is the actual mover company name mentioned. Therefore, I list "United Choice Movers LLC." and the claim does NOT go through. I call Naty and ask why this was and only then does she says, "oh the name of the moving company is Peak Vanlines". So after finally learning the name of the moving company, I'll need to submit a yelp review for them too. But this negative star review remains the same for UCM as they are highly unprofessional and give out false information or no information. ++++ I regret not looking them up on yelp before contracting them to see the very low rating which was reflective of my experience as well. When we first engaged UCM they were so responsive and informative (Robert was our sales rep). They offered the average moving rate cost, but the main reason we chose then was because they specifically committed to a certain move date even after I very clearly asked "do you have a range of when the delivery truck will arrive? other companies have given me a range". They responded to this question explaining that their drivers could meet the exact date we requested and could potentially arrive earlier even. Fast forward to a 2 days before the truck arrives to pick up our items -- the vendor mover clarifies that there was always a 21 day range! UCM/Robert completely lied and/or is just not in tuned with the vendors they hire. Additionally, upon delivery of our items to our new location. The movers made no mentioning of any broken items. As they unload it was clear that a very expensive glass art work was shattered (though the broken glass was removed... so it took us a bit of time to find out what broke) and the person who had shattered it had wiped their blood off on to a lot of our belongings (dog bed, desk, boxes, and other furniture). They had moved our items from one truck to at least one other truck prior to it getting to us. Through out this misfortunate adventure we have been calling UCM and the vendor and no one is helpful. Customer Service, Naty, was apologetic at first, but never followed up. I had to continue to call to check in on the claim that was not progressing. I received zero instruction or overview about the claim process. They are extremely unprofessional and unhelpful. read more

I cannot recommend United Choice Movers. From my experience, they present themselves as a friendly traditional moving company, but I later discovered they are moving broker. Their representatives gave me a great deal of misleading information about them and they failed to provide me some of the required items (such as moving vendors they are contracted to) that they are legally required to provide their customers. The initial phone call is fantastic. I had a moment where I was concerned that they don't take credit cards, but as that is becoming more common, I overlooked it. This is so you are on the hook for the initial deposit without a way to get it back. Then, they handed our move over to Roadrunnner out of Hayward, CA. They showed up two days late with a U-Haul type truck. No inventory was taken. A promise was made to deliver the property in 10 days. It took four months. In the interim, they attempted to get another $26,000 for the move. We declined, they held the goods hostage, we agreed to $5,500 more as they had us over a barrel at this point. Call upon call upon call to find out that the shipment was going out in two days...or next week...definitely on the next truck. I deputized family members to keep an eye on storage auctions after 3 months. (One popular gambit is to pay a low amount to a storage unit for the first month, dump the non-valuable goods in there, and then let it go to auction.) After four months, some of the goods arrived. None of the boxes with valuables, and of course the high end furniture had long since disappeared. I would say, about half. So, in summary, we paid $13,000 to have our valuables stolen and got some kitchen items and shoes delivered. Throughout this ordeal, United Choice was blissfully unbothered by any of this. If you're looking at reviews for this company, this is probably your first time long-distance moving. Here's my advice: just do it yourself, or at minimum, don't use this company. For 1800 cubic feet, I paid around $12,500 (up from the $6,700 they quoted me at originally to get me to sign a contract). My official packing list at the lower price included 150 boxes and enough furniture for a 3-bedroom home, but yet, still not enough room somehow and still had to pay more at pickup. Then they tried to tell me the truck i filled was 2000 cubic feet. I made them measure it (it was 1800...). It's all a scam. Then they break your stuff, move it to another truck, break more stuff, deliver it to your house broken and just leave it there until you notice it. They also put together half my stuff wrong so my husband and I have had to take apart multiple items and re-do them. I had read the reviews before booking. I knew they were terrible. They told me, "people are more likely to write bad reviews than good ones" and I saw the logic in that, gave them a chance, and went with them anyway. Don't make the same mistake. They are really this terrible. And yes, it seems like all moving companies are terrible, but this one has to take the cake. If you're going to spend a small fortune, go with a reputable company. Better yet, get together some friends and rent a 26' Ryder truck yourself. You will NOT regret that. But you will never get back the money and time wasted when using United Choice Movers. I should start by saying I should have read all the reviews before hiring this terrible company. Everything everyone posted tracks. I came across this company online while googling long-distance movers (LA to Las Vegas). I talked to a guy named Joe Ellis who seemed very helpful and professional. I explained I was looking for quotes understanding I was moving in a week. put on an act and "helped" lock in $2800 for a one bedroom apartment. The agreement was they would pick up in LA on either 1/30 or 1/31 and deliver at my new address in Las Vegas on 2/1 with a backup date on 2/2. The pick up was on 1/31 in the morning. The moment the mover walked in he immediately said it was going to be $500 more. I asked why if I stuck to the list I was given by Joe Ellis over the phone. This Joe guy called me twice to go over the list and I had exactly what we discussed. The pick up guy still said it was going to be $500 more but would not show measurements or actual proof of why. I finally agree because I had to get out of my apartment and start my commute. The contract stated a delivery date on 2/1/2024 with a backup on 2/2/2024. They then changed that to 2/06 and then 2/07. On 2/07 at 2:30 pm, I had still not heard from anyone. I called the dispatcher and learned that the driver was on his way. When the driver called me, it was 2:30 pm PT. He said he had left Los Angeles 30 minutes ago but was not going to make it to Las vegas (a 4 hour drive) util 8 pm so he was going to deliver the next day. I expressed how much I needed everything that day and how patient i had already been so I needed him to keep the date because I was traveling for work the next day. The driver became aggressive and kept saying I wouldn't make it until midnight so I will see you tomorrow. I called the dispatcher back and he pushed the driver. The driver then called me demanding I tell him how I was going to pay to give his money before he unloaded. At that point he was yelling. He didn't arrive at my place until 12:45 am on Wednesday. My belongings were damaged. Do NOT use this company, not united choice or Van Lines who works as a third party with untied. This company is a huge scam!! I was never once told they were a Broker company. They assured me it was United Choice Movers that would be moving me. Come to find out, some company they hired, USA Logisitics, is the moving company I was assigned. Regardless having canceled the Move Appt I made with them within 3 hours of actually making it and putting down $1000 deposit, they refuse to give me a refund at all. The paperwork says that I had 48hrs to cancel. They added their own agenda to the cancellation policy and stated that I was too close within my move date to get a refund. That was never relayed to me upon booking at all. As well as making my move date within their 7day policy, when I specifically asked for a date that was actually 4 days later than they assigned me.. Obviously they have done this before.. When trying to call them back, I was given the run around and passed over to several people that eventually told me NO I couldn't cancel. United Choice Movers isn't an actual moving company, they are brokers for various moving companies. There are many issues and hidden cost that come with this "FOR PROFIT MOVERS!" We were trying to find a moving company that was the most affordable and got us to our new destination. Unfortunately, we found these crooks and lost $1,800.00. I was suspicious immediately upon my first call with Sebastian 3/6/23 at 10:10 AM PST. He immediately transferred me to Natily so she could read a disclosure statement. She read it quickly and became irritated when I asked questions. No time during the disclosure did I hear that the deposit of $1,800.00 was non-refundable. After the call and payment, we received the contract. In the contract it states that packing of TV's or what they considered delicate items was extra. Specialty items that they needed to crate or was already crated was extra. Bulky items, packing of any item, stairs, long carry, shuttle service, re-delivery, and storage was all extra. As we read the agreement it became clear that United Choice Movers wasn't a moving company, but a broker and an advocate to get the best deal for moving companies and not the customer. They only thing that United Choice Movers does is ensure profits for themselves and the moving company. I called and cancelled within the 48-hour limit of the initial call, 3/8/23, at 09:00 AM PST, but we were denied. We tried to cancel knowing there was a 20% charge for cancellation after reading the contract ($360 from our original payment). Worse moving experience ever! Avoid this company! We are a military family doing our first Do it Yourself (DiTY) and admittedly had some lessons to learn. This one turned out to be extremely expensive. Started with a friendly service rep and a $7K quote that was "locked in" and a guaranteed delivery date the day after we closed on our new home...all lies. We thought the quote was pretty conservative given the size of our house and family, but the rep reassured us repeatedly that "this is what we do professionally and that's why we give you a locked quote." I am convinced this is a scam to give you an absurdly low quote up front to convince you to work with them only to be set up for an unpleasant surprise and huge price increase when you're up against the clock and have no choice but to follow through with the process. Quote jumped to $10.5K during the final inventory the week of the move and turned into a $23K real cost to move when the actual moving company showed up, along with a 7-10 day window for delivery. United Choice Movers has completely ghosted us with zero response to phone calls, texts, voicemails, emails, etc. It's been 5 days since we closed on our new house and we are still waiting on delivery. The movers were good people, but I could tell they inexperienced. My furniture arrived bang up. I had to move some of the furniture myself upon arrival. They came on the day discussed which seems to be better than most other people's experience. When they told me that I would need to pay double that what I prepared for, I was emotionally distraught. They brought my things to me a WEEK later than what was discussed. I'm a pretty patient person and communication goes a long way. There was no communication and a whole week is just too much. I sent them with FIVE tvs. They brought me back ONE working TV, one cracked tv, one tv without a plug, and the other two are missing. My son's computer monitor is broken. My comforter and Z gel pillows are missing. I have never experienced such an awful move ever (we are a military family and have had our fair share of moves). I used United Choice Movers to move my belongings from Bend, Oregon to Rocheport, Missouri. I was having balance issues and could not be at Bend to supervise the loading from my storage unit. I is an 1800 mile trip and they did transfer the load to storage until they could arrange a truck and driver. It took them about a week to get it here which is pretty good considering all of the work to pack, unpack, repack and load. The personnel were polite and courteous and hard workers. They packed everything very well and I haven't found anything broken or lost. It cost me a little more than I expected but I had more stuff than I realized, but they were still the best value. These brokers are full of shit! Do NOT trust them! They falsely advertised wrapping of my furniture and when the actual movers arrived, they attempted to charge me 1200 to wrap my furniture despite the contract indicating otherwise! I know it's all about the money, but damn; one would think they would have more sense than they demonstrated! BEWARE!!!! These people are a scam. They removed my original complaint without an explanation so I'm feeling the truth must hurt. This company will out source your move to the cheapest person and quote you one price ($5200). Once they get there to pick your things up and the truck is half loaded they give you another price ($22,000). We were out sourced to U.S.A. logistics out of California. Our things were broken. The ONLY item that made it without damage was our dinning room table and chairs. Our items were transferred from Las Vegas Nevada to sit in a warehouse for almost 2 weeks in Van Nuys California then delivered to Washington state in such horrible condition that I couldn't put it in my house. If I could give no stars, I would. We had over a $1000 damage to our moved items. Everything was well documented with pictures, receipts, etc. of the damage. After months of stalls and excuses from this company, we received less than $50 because they claimed they only pay for the weight of items damaged. This is outrageous. We had a large household to move cross country; we were up front with everything to be moved from a 3600 sq foot home. We were quoted $8000 under the actual price. We were told we would have 3 packers plus a driver and a full size moving van. The day the movers arrived, they came with a small truck and one packer who spoke no English and a driver who spoke fair English. They rented a 2nd smaller truck locally and still had tremendous difficulty cramming all of our household into these. Consequently, boxes and furniture was jammed doing damage to packed items as well as tears, scratches, and breakage to expensive household items. When the 2 movers arrived at our new residence, they demanded cash for carrying items to our lower level as well as the added charges for the truck. If we would have known the charges up front, we would have entertained other quotes. But most of all, we lost family heirlooms, had damage to beautiful quality furniture, and the frustration of dealing with an incompetent packer. We did not realize the extent of damage until unpacking. We would have NEVER TIPPED these horrible movers. We were remiss in heeding similar easily found online reviews of this bad moving company.
