Best self defense training around!!! Wide range of classes. I'm learning so much!! :)

Went to a free demo one Saturday morning and Jay was the person who did the orientation. The demo took an hour and a half and featured cases where you have to defend yourself against threats. The demo was very realistic and Jay was a good instructor. He demonstrated the proper way to carry a handgun and the proper grip and stance to be an effective shooter. I was paired with another person (Robin) and she also was pretty impressed with the demo and with the training facility. I'd probably sign up with UDT once my schedule clears up. Just busy with life and work currently but learned a few things on defending against personal threats. If you're looking to learn how to defend yourself in this crazy world -- whether you're in a parking lot, in your car, at home, or out in public -- this is an excellent place to train. You'll learn from knowledgeable instructors who not only take safety and skill seriously, but also make the experience fun and engaging. (Elyas and Fernando) I came in a total novice mixed in with all different skill sets and the instructors are so helpful.. In the begging I was suspicious to just be another stupid laser shooting training, but anyway I decide to take the demo and I glad I did. The training is really good and extensive with different levels and just allow you to move up if the instructor is satisfied with your skills. My instructor is Fernando a former Brazilian Tatical Force instructor and Jiu-Jtsu black belt. Fernando is very knowledgeable and love to teach keeping a very high professional level. I was prepared for a full-on sales pitch, but, after the class completed, the instructor (Jay) very simply asked if we (4 people in the class) might be interested in more. He then presented a binder with the available courses, details, and fees, and answered all of our questions. Jay is the utmost professional, and a talented instructor. If I could give zero stars o would. Maybe even negative stars. I went to the Thousand Oaks location today. I was very excited to check this out not only for myself but my daughter and BFF. However my excitement turned to disappointment in 45 mins. I arrived early like I was asked. Jay Adler came out after about 15-20 mins of waiting. He said that he's running a few mins behind. I understand. So I struck up a conversation with another wonderful woman also waiting for him. We sat and talked for 30 more mins with no Jay in sight. We both were there at 12:15. We both let at 1:05. Very unprofessional. Jay did not reach out to either one of us to apologize. He just lost 4 people into his program. read more

I had the intro today with Jay and I was very impressed. The scenarios are realistic and the system worked as it should. Jay was knowledgeable and taught in a manner that did not "talk down" to the students. The facility was clean and nicely set up for the different scenarios they train. I retired from over 30 years in law enforcement and this type of training was still very beneficial. You can always learn. The more training you get, the better chance of a having a good outcome, by deescalating or to defend yourself if the need arises. My best friend and I had a demo with Jay earlier this week. I honestly wasn't sure of what it would be, but he is an outstanding instructor and professional. He was communicative ahead of the appointment, punctual, and his teaching style is on point. We both learned more in the demo than either of us expected, and this seems like an incredibly unique and logical approach to instructing people (of all levels, I imagine--we are both close to newbies on this front) self/home defense. He guided us through simulation exercises and... all I can say is that if you are considering this at all, it's worth checking it out. We are both enrolling as this goes far beyond target practice. You won't be disappointed with this facility. The instructors have amazing skills and they push you to match them. They won't let you slack off or move on without mastering each step of the training. Classes are small so you get personalized attention. And it is a very welcoming training environment without ego. I just had the best experience doing a demonstration class with Jay. He was kind, personable, respectful, and CLEARLY an expert and a wealth of knowledge.
