Brian doesn't only teach you about the legality of carrying/shooting and actually shooting. HALF-DAY CCW SKILLS PREPARATION is a brand new course offering and a fantastic idea. I received the announcement about this new course just a few days before my scheduled CCW renewal course and had been basically wasting ammo at my local range to do what amounted to just a function check in preparation for qualifying. This course was exactly what I had been wishing for, working from the holster with expert trainers providing tips one-on-one, without the pressure of having to qualify that day. It was extremely enjoyable and greatly increased the learning benefits of the ammo spent, rather than doing the same ol' target shooting from the bench on my own. I've been using MV Tactical & Firearms training for several years now. I have been shooting since my early NRA training in the Boy Scouts. It was then on to competition shooting as an Eagle Scout in the Explorers, and into adulthood with various pistol/rifle/shotgun classes as an enthusiast and a frequent range visitor. A little over 10 years ago, I obtained my initial CCW permit and have been renewing it bi-annually since. So, I have had quite a few weapons instructors over the years. The quality of the training that I recently received with MV Tactical was head-and-shoulders above anything else I have experienced in all those years. Truly outstanding. Initially, I signed up for my CCW permit renewal with MV Tactical. Subsequently, I learned that they were also offering a "CCW Skills Preparation" course, so I enrolled in that as well. To say that the skills course was well worth it is a complete understatement. Topics included: firearms safety, stance, supporting grip, trigger prep, vision, recoil management, holster presentation and safe re-holstering, along with fun practical shooting drills concentrating on accuracy, speed, and target size. It was awesome. The actual CCW Permit Renewal class was conducted on the following day. This was far in a way the most comprehensive CCW permit renewal class that I have ever attended. The qualification requirements from the Sheriff's Department were, of course, the main objective, but the amount of additional training and imparted knowledge was incredible. I must say that I learned more in that one day CCW renewal class than in all of my prior CCW classes combined. Brian and Vahagn are not only extremely knowledgeable, patient, and helpful, but the depth and detail of the instruction was unique in my experience. Firearm safety was priority one. The instruction was as individualized as one could imagine in a group setting. It was also a heck of a lot of fun. Booked a semi Pvt lesson for my wife and I. I am an experienced shooter but hadn't participated in years. My wife completely new. Brian is the real deal. Extensive police experience both as a front line officer and firearms instructor- this last bit really comes through. He was extremely through, very safety oriented. I recently completed a two day training course in "Active Shooter Response" outstanding in terms of education, training and safety. I went in considering myself reasonably knowledgeable and experienced only to learn how much more room there was to grow. Brian owner of MV Tactical and Firearms Training, Inc. and his instructors have it down to a clear, methodical and step by step approach that can take you from complete novice on this subject to developing a safe competent active shooter survival kit. Not only will you learn legal foundation for self defense you will develop a tactical survival mindset. You will learn elements of an active shooter profile and timeline recognizing possible early warning signs, surviving a strategic level terror attack and much more. On the second day in an open range setting we learned tactical movement in structures--blocking, room-clearing/moving past doorways, hallway intersections and stairwells as well as gun handling and engaging threats in a populated environment and more. My favorite part of the training was when Brian and his instructors set up a live fire, simulated combat scenarios using small unit and partner tactics and formations, it was a lot of fun and very safe. Brian was extremely patient and helpful and his background is very impressive and one of the most experienced instructors I have worked with. With over 30 plus years of experience in law enforcement working in a K-9 unit for years Sergeant Brian Fitzpatrick who is a Certified Active Shooter Response Instructor has responded to several in process active shooter incidents and twice received his department's Medal Of Valor, you will be in the best hands possible! Incredible experience. We booked a basic tactical training for myself, husband and 5 of our friends. The trainer to student ratio was amazing, tons of one on one for every student. I attended the Basic Defensive Pistol on 6/10/2017 at A Place to Shoot with Brian and had great time. I shoot a few times a year recreationally, but I've never had any practical defensive firearms training. The class had varying skill levels from folks with a decade of shooting experience to someone's first day shooting a full powered handgun. Brian was able to pace the class and keep it relevant and interesting to the variable skill levels. We had a good mix of lecture, weapons manipulation, and live fire practice both at steel and paper targets. Round count varies, but I shot over 200 rounds. So bring a mag loader if you have one. I learned some great shooting and dry fire drills. Brian was able to give me a personalized assessment on how to improve my shooting as well as immediate feedback during shooting drills. There was a good discussion and drill on range safety as well as an evacuation plan should an accident happen. Brian stays on top of range safety and keep the shooting environment comfortable and focused on learning. In short, strongly recommend. read more

They offer a wide variety of classes on many different firearms platforms. I've taken classes on 3 different platforms and all have been equally excellent. Great for all levels. I had very limited experience before taking classes here. I've taken the Basic Shooter and the CCW course. Brian and Lou were great at making me feel comfortable with my skill level and gave me the encouragement to improve. As a female, i didnt feel intimidated, They promote the safety needed for responsible firearm use and teach the skills accurate marksmenship. I took the basic pistol firearms training course with Brian and his team at a place to shoot back in July. I've been around guns, but never properly been told how to shoot (techniques)!or really practice anything specific as far as safety (other than keeping the barrel pointed away from people). As I became more eager to get comfortable with fire arms, I signed up for this class after not hearing back from another company (which turned out to be a blessing). Brian and his team are very knowledgeable and have a nicely mapped out training plan with lecture and hands-on. This class was approximately seven hours long and very focus driven the entire time. I am extremely pleased that knowledge I took away from this class and I would recommend MV tactical to anyone interested in learning about firearms or perfecting their skills in other areas as they have many types of classes. MV Tactical is a great resource for anyone looking to improve their marksmanship. Brian, the main instructor, is skilled at adapting his teaching style to any level of experience and places a strong emphasis on fundamentals. I attended the "Shooting on the Move" class on 7/8/17 and was thoroughly impressed at the way Brian and his staff handled the course. The beginning of the class covered safety rules and also included a detailed plan for use in an emergency situation. It was very clear that MV Tactical had considered many of the potential situations (including environmental hazards such as dehydration or snake/insect bite) and had a plan in place to address and mitigate those risks. Brian and his team adapted the course to the skill level of the participants slowing things down for those that needed it and developing/modifying exercises to challenge students of any level. Safety was always their number one priority. The instructor to student ratio was great and it felt like I was getting personalized instruction. At the end of the class Brian gave each student a debrief and provided some "homework" assignments to help work on each person's challenge areas. I plan on signing up for more classes and am looking forward to continuing my training with Brian and the MV Tactical Team. read more

Great training from someone with 30+ of law enforcement experience. I've known Brian as an instructor for over 10 years. He offers high quality training with real world perspectives. I've had a fair amount of firearms training. Brian's courses enhanced that training by focusing on the fundamentals of marksmenship. I've taken both the Basic and Intermediate Defensive Pistol course, as well as the 16 hour Ventura County approved CCW course. After taking the CCW course and obtaining the permit, I wanted to continue my training so I took the Advanced Carry Tactics course. I highly recommend the Advanced Carry Tactics course for everyone with a CCW. It helps you prepare for the mindset of carrying a concealed handgun. I recently completed two courses with MV Tactical: the Intermediate Defensive Pistol and the Advanced Concealed Carry, both conducted by Brian Fitzpatrick. Over the years, I've attended training classes run by other firms, however none measured up to the benefits I received from Brian. Brian presents the material in an organized manner based on his experience from decades of law enforcement and a firearms instructor. He is meticulous in making sure all drills are conducted with an emphasis on safety. The drills and exercises were varied so as to make it beneficial as well as fun. The equipment, targets, and staging are very good which makes the 8 hour sessions enjoyable. The student-to-instructor ratio is extremely low. I was particularly impressed that Brian kept notes on some of my weaknesses he noted in the 1st course I attended, which were addressed in the subsequent course.
