Each process with this TCPC location is extremely complex for no reason. The communication from…read morefront desk to provider, as well as, from provider to insurance and clients is subpar at best. The front desk personnel, Sylvia, gives off a passive-aggressive, patronizing attitude while dealing with clients, even new ones like those who were treated rudely by her while she was on the phone and for 8 min and made sure you knew you weren't to interfere. I made a call beforehand, stating I would be running behind and the person on the phone said, "head in," even after I told her my ETA. She said she would speak to my provider. Upon arriving, I was met with Sylvia's "pleasant" attitude, and accidentally responded when she said, "Hi." Little did I know, she had just ended one call and began another. The 8-9 min spent on the phone without letting my provider know I had arrived, is most likely the reason she said that she wouldn't meet with me. I had explained the previous conversation on the phone and I believe she thought I was trying to undermine her, when in reality, I just wanted to explain why I traveled 20+ min and arrived late with assurance of seeing the provider. It's sad that in 2026, when a Muslim woman is by herself, certain people feel the need to assert dominance when nobody else is around. Then, when the other "new" clients came in behind me, the way she treated them was rude as well, as if she didn't feel either one of us fit in to be there.

Fast forward to about 2 years ago. I was forced to cut back on my pain meds. However the cut back ultimately was a good thing and I could live a life I could handle. Last year at this time I was told I had to cut back even more and I was not happy about this. My provider at the time ( Bethany who is no longer there) went to bat for me with no luck, they decreased my meds. She said it would be a long process of further decreasing my meds, but she was wrong. 9 months later and they cut back my meds again. I am now on their acceptable dose and they keep asking me if I want a spinal pain pump. I do not!!!!!! I'm old school, do the least invasive thing until it no longer works, then do the next least invasive , and so On. Spinal pain pump is the last resort for me. I'm in my early 50's, I hopefully have many more years to live, I don't want the big guns for pain now. No way, I'm saving that for when I need it later in down the road. However, what do I do now if my pain gets worse? I have variable pain, and sometimes I need more meds, but I can't have them. It's frustrating to say the least. They told me the won't even start new patients on painkillers!!!!!! In a rare circumstance, the might, but the pt is only allowed to stay on for 1 year. Really? It's no acceptable at all. Chronic pain is real, most patients with chronic pain follow the rules religiously. It's just sad that it has come to this. Pain meds are right there, but we can't access them, and we need them to live quality of life.

My primary physician here is actually Nurse Practitioner Kristin Bleninger-Sundar. She's a wonderful caring woman who has been a blessing to me. She understands what chronic pain is (and what it's like to have to deal with it every day) better than others. She's knowledgeable about the many different options and procedures that can be tried to get you even more pain relief than you can ever hope for. Dr. Janiga is a ray of sunshine for the doctors here. He is kind, caring, and has an awesome bedside manner and really knows what he's doing but takes time to talk to you about what he's doing and make sure that you are both on the same page. Now, a doctor I leave nameless here, only as a courtesy, if you choose to go here you may or may not get along with but most patients (and staff) I talk to feel the same distain I have for him. He is rude, short (tempered), snotty, and deserves to be put in his place really, but will never change even if that were to occur. I'm sure you know the type. He has the bedside manner of a dead fish and the personality of a cold washcloth. If you have seen him then you know who I am talking about! If you have seen him and found yourself hating him, please give the other people here a chance to help you. Everyone else here is wonderful! Just come and give the chance to Kristin or Dr. Janiga and the rest of the staff and as long as you don't see the other doctor at all the rest of your care here should be pleasant

I went through him to get my medical card and yes, you do have to pay before your appointment and it's $205. I don't know where people are getting these crazy numbers of it costing way more than that, but it doesn't. Everything is done remotely. Everything was super smooth and there weren't any issues at all. I got my medical card the following day, even though it can take up to 30 days. Everything was super short, simple, and to the point. I never had an issue with Rachel, she has always been pleasant to deal with. I actually got my fiancé set up with an appointment, and he had the same great experience as I did. We even called him back and had a chemical eval done for court and they were just as thorough and pleasant as the first time. I've recommended them to several people. Don't go off those old reviews, they are inaccurate. 5/5 stars for me. Thanks Dr. Locketz and Rachel.

Everyone I interacted with from the person on the phone, the people who checked me in for my appointments, to my physical therapist Kyle, Dr. Varun and all the nurses I met, were the most welcome, kind, and supportive people I have ever met. They made every appointment impactful for my health. I went 2-3 times a week for a couple of months before I moved for a job. When I told everyone that I was moving, they went out of their way to make sure I could get in for as many physical therapy sessions as possible with Kyle and Dr. Varun did everything in her power to help me manage my pain. I've had TMJ for as long as I can remember. I've tried different types of night guards, acupuncture, chiropractic care, and none of these gave me anywhere near as much sustained relief than going to MN Head & Neck Pain Clinic. Kyle created a therapy plan for me that would give me the most relief and was flexible for my life. Dr. Varun expedited my care so I could try trigger point injections. They changed my life and gave me the first sustainable relief I have ever experienced. I wish I had found MN Head and Neck Pain Clinic sooner. As my upcoming move got closer, every time I went in for an appointment, everyone asked me how I was doing, gave me endless kindness and words of encouragement and support. I have never felt so care for by such high-level professionals. The last day I saw Dr. Varun, I was getting nervous about my move, and she spent extra time with me to let me talk about my fears of moving and starting over. She was so encouraging and supportive and kept saying how strong and brave I was for moving. I will be forever grateful for Dr. Varun's compassion, kindness, and care. The time I had with MN Head and Neck Pain Clinic changed my life both physically and emotionally. Even though I couldn't take them with, everyone kept reminded me that they will always be there and willing to help.

Met with a NP, who told me that she would never prescribe anything for the pain and that the intrathecal pain pump was my only option. I had previously tried the spinal cord stimulator with failing results. After the "trial" I ended up with a spinal fluid leak, leading to excruciating headaches. After days of calling, they finally scheduled a procedure to fix the leak. I should have seen the signs then, but was so hopeful to have relief. Had the pain pump installed and thought everything was fine and I would finally live with less pain. Little did I know, the pump would be empty before the date they told me to come back on and I was forced to endure morphine withdrawals on my own. Phone calls went unanswered and portal messages ignored. When my NP finally responded to me via the portal, she blamed the emptying on me. Fast forward to round 2, I asked for a medication change due to the side effects I was experiencing, was given the change but again was forced to withdrawal because they will not return phone calls asking for a fill. I am so done, I will have the pump removed and learn to live in pain. Do your homework!!!
