We liked Dr. Walner after our consultation so were happy to do the surgery wherever he was performing it. I have to admit that I got a little worried about sending my little guy into surgery at Golf after reading the less than stellar reviews. However, we had nothing, but a 5 star experience here. It's a small surgical center and we probably saw only one other patient the morning we were there. All of the nurses and doctors were fabulous with both me and my son. He was a little anxious about the IV and they put him right at ease and he went into surgery like a champ. A special shout out to Nurse Cesar (sp?) who was just so awesome with my son! He came out of surgery not as happy (likely due to the effects of anesthesia), but the nurses did everything possible to make him feel more comfortable- pain meds, ice packs, movie and then finally (the winning solution) a sprite! Dr. Walner himself was also great and spent time talking to discuss both before and after the procedure. My daughter ended up having a procedure of her own at Lurie the following day (crazy week in my house) and have to say I think I preferred our experience at Golf. I hope there aren't many surgeries in our future, but if so I wouldn't hesitate to book at Golf!

There's not much more to say about the facility itself except it's convenient with good hours, and has a big convenient parking lot that is often filled! Our PCP, Dr. Ellen Aleksandrovich, is the best and she is very competent, caring, communicative, proactive, and empathetic to the patient's needs. Their systems also work great and responsively without long waits - systems meaning phone calls or messages, their PA staff, their website which is used for both medical info storage as well as messaging, their billing and payments system, their appointment scheduling, their lab appointments system and staff, etc. They also have several specialists based here that we see, and they have the same support system. We routinely get bloodwork and sometimes imaging done here. They are part of the Advocate Medical Group and in turn associated directly with the excellent Advocate Lutheran General Hospital nearby. I was forced to go because I ran out of a script & they told me I had to see the doctor first before I could get it refilled. I would just as soon take none of these drugs (I mean I'm not even getting high from them ) As it turns out its been over 1 year since my last physical so I figured I might as well have the tests done. I guess the fact that I have insurance they figured out they might as well order everything deluxe and do Lab Tests, EKG, Ultrasound (Am I pregnant ?). Anyway 2 hrs seems a bit excessive. The attending resident doctor did a very good job and was very through, but the front desk staff leaves a lot to be desired. When I arrived the girl asked me if I could hold on for a minute. I waited for about 5 minutes and finally realized there were a couple of other people that could have checked me in. When I left there were only 2 people. As I walked out the first person just walked away and didn't say anything so I checked out with the other person.

If needed, they can also refer you to one of their immediate care clinics in a Walgreens and I have used that service to get a quick anti-biotic prescription following a quick strep throat test without need to see a PCP. Before using the Advocate Medical Group for a PCP, I had a one man shop PCP, and who happened to take Wednesdays off, and it seemed I always needed him on a Wednesday so he was never there without a few days delay when I needed him, pfft! He also occasionally had suspect billing practices and that was the straw for me. He was competent though, but whatever on that aspect. In our experience, it's a big thumbs up for the Advocate Medical Group staff here at the Nesset Pavillion as well as the facility itself.

They look down at you and become annoyed when you ask for basic things like hygiene products. That being said there were a few people that definitely made the place a little better. Mrs. A always treated us with kindness and respect and listened to any of our concerns. Deandra and an Older lady with glasses, I forget her name, made our group therapy enjoyable. Made us feel heard and appreciated. You are not forced to go to group therapy so in the beginning my days consisted of pacing up and down a hallway and laying in bed all day. All the crayons are broken and all the markers are dry. There is no mental stimulation. Most people seemed even more depressed than when they went in. The worst part of it was that for me is that my experience is still ongoing. I needed FMLA forms filled out. I gave them to my doctor and he forgot to answer two questions and worst of all, did not sign the paperwork. Since I had no phone privilege, I had no way of knowing the issue with the paperwork until after I left. When I was discharged and checked the status of my case I realized it still said missing paperwork. I tried getting back to them right away. I have been calling and leaving voicemails to my social worker and anyone that will listen. I left three different people voicemails for a week straight and no one has answered. I only needed ten minutes to fill out the two sheets I need. Now I risk my disability being denied, I won't receive pay for the two weeks I was out and my insurance will be canceled for the week I was denied. I'll receive an even bigger bill from the hospital. How is it that I am worse off leaving the hospital than when I went in? Even the medication the doctor was supposed to send out to the pharmacy was not sent. I had to call again, get sent to voicemail, receive no response and run begging to my primary care physician to prescribe me the medicine they failed to send out. I came here to help my mental health. To stabilize myself. Instead of helping it's made everything worse.

I usually have no trouble getting same day service with the results being provided in a timely manner.
