In business, the most important trait should be communication. The owner, Mark Landgrebe, was not a good communicator during our project. He would text or talk until the project was started and he had his/our money. Then it went days/weeks at a time between communication and always us initialing it. We bought a house with the solar already installed and paid for. We discovered we had a roof leak and the roofer needed panels removed. I reached out to Aquilino to schedule a day for them to remove panels. They were able to come the day that the roofer was available and took the panels off waited for the job to finish and put the panels back on. They even ran a wired connection for our panels to the internet and got us connected to the server properly. read more

To anyone considering using United Solar LLC, I would encourage you to search "United Solar LLC" and "Mark Landgrebe" (the owner) on the free website "trellis.law". There are multiple past and ongoing court cases involving breach of contract by this company. * When the quote and solar production estimate was generated, the company claimed I could receive a 10% tax credit because the panels they were installing were Made in the USA. I found out after the system was installed that this tax credit is only available to businesses, not homeowners. Completing a solar project involves both the construction of the project and multiple permitting steps with the power company, local building inspectors, and the NJ Clean Energy Program. My contract, signed in January, stipulated that all work would be completed within 90 days. At the time of writing, it has been 8 months. * My contract stipulates that a "Squirrel Guard" would be installed around the panels to keep rodents and debris from entering the space between the roof and the panels. This was never installed, despite at least 5 attempts to schedule this work. The company has proven to be inept at the permitting steps, despite their claims of "15 years experience". * Initial application to PSE&G - Was rejected multiple times, due to multiple clerical errors on the part of the company * The building permit application to the township was rejected. Resubmission of these documents delayed permission to "turn on" the system by several weeks. The final permitting step is to set up the Renewable Energy Credit account. This account enables a significant financial benefit (~$400/year in my case) of installing solar panels. * The company ceased all contact with me without completing the set up of this account. I have attempted to contact them through multiple emails and phone calls over the past several months, but they have not responded to any of these requests. I would strongly recommend finding a different solar installer. read more

Could not be better. I have a basis for comparison. I had 1 side of my roof paneled by POWER, another by UNITED SOLAR LLC. UNITED SOLAR was able to install the system in one day (up and running the next) and were able diagnose a problem with the POWER system which has not worked properly since installed and activated 2 months ago. UNITED SOLAR was able to work with a Bluetti battery back up system without a hitch. UNITED SOLAR educated me so I could monitor my system with confidence. Responsive and easy to communicate with. Initially started out as a 5-Star company. We needed a complete solar install incl. battery and a full roof replacement. After going through five other solar companies, Mark Landgrebe was polite, professional, and direct with answers incl. technical questions. Honesty and pricing seemed to beat all other companies. Nick with financing is a bit bumbly, but you can work around him if necessary. The roofing crew was professional, fast and did a superb job in 2 days even in rough weather. Our only issue was the "cleanup" left around the house (I had requested a magnet sweep to protect my children and chickens, but keep finding old roofing nails, tacks + staples by the handful!) The solar installation crew was at first phenomenal! Aki and his crew are knowledgeable, efficient, and expertly skilled. All work was completed cleanly in a professional manner and passed inspections without any issues! THEN came the "after" part... 1) After speaking repeatedly with the equipment manufacturers, an apparent equipment installation issue is causing the info that I receive in my monitoring App to give incorrect readings. While this may seem trivial, it also calculates everything from how much energy we generate each day, how much we use from the "grid" and the amt of money the utility company owes ME (Net Metering) to the return on my investment, battery charge, etc. Upon notifying United Solar of the issue, I was told by Aki that they would set up a service call, but that it would be "QUITE SOME TIME" before they can come out to me (they had no issue getting to me when they were getting paid $80,000.+) Still unresolved... 2) One essential part of the project which I had insisted on from the very first conversation was to install a simple 50A receptable/port on my house to plug in my portable generator when needed. The Sol-Ark inverter is a superb piece of equipment and has a "GENerator" input built in - no need for transfer switches, sub-panels or anything complicated. Just a straight run of wire from the 50A receptable to the inverter. Mark consistently said "don't worry - we'll take care of it" (which I even have screenshots and other documentation of.) MY MISTAKE (in retrospect) is never getting it written into the contract. I trusted Mark and took a "Gentlemen's Agreement" on it, with him either not responding to requests about it or insisting all throughout the installation process "we'll take care of it." It NEVER got "taken care of." Recently our power went out and while our battery lasted only so long - $112,000. later we had no way to charge it or run my house off of generator... So what started out as a 5-star project has changed into a 2-star review, with the "2" being generous given the work done at the beginning was done well. I am thoroughly disappointed and can no longer recommend using United Solar Co. in NJ for anything requiring trustworthy service. read more

One Year! Absolutely ridiculous that our project, even though it was two parts, took this long. Mark Landgrebe, the owner/salesman, is quick to get you a quote and ask for his money up front, but slow to answer any questions you as the customer may have. And he doesn't like it when you question him on any particular piece of the project, attempting to try and understand what you are paying for. Heaven for bid you have some interest or even knowledge of electricity/batteries/construction to be involved with the project. He has NO time for the customer. There was a 3 month break in the project as he attempted to get a battery where every 2 weeks he would say, "should arrive in two weeks", and we found out that he didn't have the money to purchase one. When the equipment part was finally done, we held out a little money to ensure that all was completed (since our trust was dwindling) including our app that allows us to read and monitor our system, but he never completed that part (it reads that we export more than we produce) and he never returned. What a great team United Solar has. From the first point of contact with Nick to the close out with Ackie, these guys were pros. They made a complicated process so easy for me and my family. The panels went up in one day. The conduit, panels and mechanics were laid out well. I really appreciated the updates and follow up from the job manager Nick. He made me feel comfortable. I installed solar panels with them, it was a mess from the start. After waiting for months to get the system up and running I went through so much chaos. To the point of registering the system thru the GATS System. They never provided me with all the information needed to create the account. I had to basically tell them how to their job. It was so frustrating. They still are missing information that haven't been submitted to start reporting the usage. I am so frustrated I don't understand how can people be so disorganized when running a business. I can understand when starting a business it a bit complex but after operating it for a few years you should not be so incompetent and should be able to complete the transaction without making so many mistakes. read more

Wish I could give them a ZERO. Once they got my business, they stopped responding to any email/voicemails. Installed panels without the actual work permit being issued. I had to pay for multiple months of service before the panels were actually "live". Was told the company would reimburse me for those months, but I still haven't seen the check, and they haven't responded to the three emails sent. The only good thing about them was their installer, who apparently is no longer with United Solar. Do yourself a favor and find another solar company. TERRIBLE! read more

Solar came to my house in December of 2017 and I decided to sign up with the company. I was promised a gift card if $500.00 and was told that my monthly payments will not start until the system was up and running. The monthly payment was being deducted from my account in December and panels were not up and running and until this day I'm payment for panels that are not running. I have called the company and emailed the staff and I receive no response to rectify the issues. I would not recommend this company to any of my friends/family.... read more

Glenn Came out to my house...gave me a proposal that was honest, fair, and reasonable. United installed the panels very quickly. The system is running and producing just the way they said it would. Glenn answeres the phone any time I have a question. I have recomended family and friends and they even gave me 500.00 for each referal...They do what they say and that is what I expect.....Very good Company!!! read more

From the beginning, my experience with the staff at Solar Home was nothing but pleasurable. Rose, the receptionist was sweet and helpful every time I called. Julia, the manager was very informative of how the permitting and installation process goes. The sales department answered all of my questions about how solar systems actually work. I ended up not moving forward with solar because they told me I had too much shade around my house for the system to produce enough energy. I appreciate the honesty of their employees.
