I called for an emergency visit. my elderly mother's AC unit shut off during the hottest day of the year. They absolutely came same day, which was very appreciated. The problem come when the diagnosis was it's over heating and you need a new unit. Thry didn't even try to do anything to help us in the mean time. We ultimately called another company for another charge the next day.. he told us they same thing .. over heating . He took a hose and cleaned the coils. Miraculously it started working again. The unit is old and does need to be replaced, but I will absolutely not go with Community II because they didn't even try to fix it in the meantime. read more

A couple of months ago I engaged in adding roughly about 2000 ft.² to my home. Came time for heating and air-conditioning (central) my contractor brought in his guy and I just wasn't sold on how he wanted to lay out the unit, wasn't really sure about the unit that he was recommending. So I was about to ask on Facebook if anybody knew of anybody when Community II happened to simultaneously post about their company. I told them that I was ready right away to if someone come look at it because I needed to keep the ball rolling in my project. Heather (owners wife)was extremely nice and replied right away, Michael the owner came the very next day explain to them what I was looking to do he had no problem with the area I wanted the unit in. Made some recommendation that i had no idea about. Dealt with Micheal and Anthony (father son owners) with pricing they both came back the next day we signed a contract (which was very reasonable). They left my house at 6pm and come back at 8am to start. They came with a crew lead by John (Forman) who has never been to the house but between 6pm and 8am he must have been briefed bc he hit the ground running. They came everyday with a crew and everyone was on point and CLEAN. ( which after doing this project. No one is clean!!!) they worked so well with the plumbers bc i added a humidifier and a drain. I can't say anything negative about anyone from community II, and honestly they helped me with a few other things around the house. Gave me a spray foam guy, gave me ideas on how to wire up my TV's. We called this company to look at our ac. This was during a heat wave and I have elderly parents downstairs. They came on a sat and looked for 5 minutes. Told us the compressor was bad and will cost about $4000 and up without looking up the equipment cost. Charged $179 just to step in my door. That's taking advantage of people, especially during these hard times. They never contacted us with a definite cost. They cashed the check very quickly. I called to complain, but made a thousand excuses. They did not send an email like the girl stated. They should have called . I told the girl to tell management that they lost a customer. Obviously, they could care less! Called another person who came the next day and fixed everything for way less. Beware! read more

Worst HVAC contractor ever. I wanted to install a trane 95% efficiency furnace in my house. Couldn't in my area on Trane's website, I called them up and they gave me the contact of community II. The owner Mike (the father), came to my house for an estimate. Looked at my 1988 furnace and sold me the 100,000 BTU model, he did not look around the house to see if this size is the right size or not. He did not even think of the size of the new furnace and if it is going to fit in place of the old one or not. A Friday was schedule for the installation priced at $6500. Two men came to install it. Took the old furnace out and when opened the new furnace's package, they realized that it is too big to fit where it was supposed to and be able to slide the door. Another installer came to look at the problem, tried calling the "shop" and get me a smaller furnace that can fit, this did not work. At the end I said go ahead and install the new one and the door was taken off. When I was given an estimate, I informed that I wanted to change my old thermostat with a NEST, he said OK. I bought the thermostat and when tried to replace the old one, they discovered that it can not be installed in the same location where the old one was. Now, I spoke with the other owner (the son) who stated that his father did not know much about the new thermostat technology and said OK without knowing the installation requirements for the new one, as the Nest needed a whole new wiring. I went crazy with one of the guys to find another location, it was not ideal of course. Also the new furnace needed a drain line, which was not at all addressed during the estimate, again we had to brain storm to find the best way to do that, which I did and it wasn't too bad. Now, when the installation was complete, which took forever, they turned the furnace on to test it, nothing. It was approaching 3 or 4pm, I can't remember which is the end of their working hours, they simply wanted to leave me with a non working furnace on a cold Friday night and a weekend in April and I had a 9 year old son at the time until Monday morning. I spoke with the (son) again at that day I had 5 people in my house each one was trying to work on one of the problems that they faced during this install. He agreed to leave me with one of them to try to get it to work, he did what he could but failed, he called another guy who was at my house earlier to guide him on what to do, but failed. I ended up without heat until Monday, took another day off work, so I can get my newly installed furnace to work, which finally happened on Monday. When it finally worked, air was blowing very loudly out of all vents, I said to the guy this furnace is over sized and air is blowing and he agreed with me, we called and let them know that, but did not care of course. I spoke with the (father) again trying to see what they can do to compensate me for all the trouble that I wen through, he did not offer anything. Kept changing his story, telling me that this job took longer than expected and ate all their profit form it and in another story , he told me that this job was supposed to take more than one day and when I asked him, if you knew that it was going to take more than one day, how come did you schedule the install on a Friday, knowing that you are going to leave me without heat during the weekend, I got not answer. I complained to trane, they said that they are going to investigate this matter and get back to me. Few days later I followed up with them, they asked if community II contacted me and no they did not. Few days later, water started leaking from the drain pump onto my floor, called them up, someone came the next day and it turned out they the installers forget to take a part of the packaging off the pump, which was preventing the pump from pumping the water. The exhaust pipe that they installed is leaking a drop or two of water every now and then and wets the floor. When Trane pushed them to rectify the situation, I received a free 1 year maintenance in the mail, they did not even have the decency to contact me and apologize in person, I accepted the contract and when I tried to use the free maintenance, scheduled an appointment, took a day off, waited and no one showed up. Called the office manager who messed up the appointment, tried to reschedule with me, but that was it for me with these people. read more

Community II installed the Heating/AC/Water heater when my home when it was built in 1992. Through out the years there service has been excellent, reliable, honest, and they stand by there work. In 2009 Community II installed my instant Hot water heater. Through a misunderstanding on my part of how Instant Hot Water Heaters work.. I choose to have a service contract with another company. When the other company "blew me off" and I had no hot water. The owner of Community II called me right back, had a Tech at my home in two hours (I called at Friday at 11:30 am for service and it was the beginning of AC season. The owner admitted he was swamped but was empathic and wanted to help. Rheem's Tech stated that the unit was installed correctly (despite what the service agreement company's statement.). I called the Trane corporation to find a dealer so I could purchase and have an air conditioning system installed. I promptly contacted Community II Heating & AC, and an appointment day and time was set up. I received a phone call the day prior to the appointment to confirm. I received another call an hour before the appointment to confirm once again. Approximately ten minutes later I received a final call canceling the appointment. I was told that it wouldn't be cost effective for them to come to Brooklyn. Since I would be the person paying for the system, delivery, installation, and all other charges they tacked on, I didn't understand what the true issue was. I figured it was just too far so I put the address in WAZE only to find out that it would have taken a whopping 30 minutes to get here! I was 7.3 long miles away from me! Our heat went out last year during one of the coldest winters in recent years. Called Community II and they sent someone out to help diagnose the problem. It cost probably $300 in total including diagnostic fee and labor. I think they came at least twice. only 7-8 months later, we found that the heat wasn't working. I was frustrated that the problem wasn't fixed the first time. They get the job done, but given that they had to come twice in less than 8 months, makes me a little dubious.
