Place is a hit or miss in terms of speed. I had to wait several.minutes once or twice but overall its decent.

I've been to this post office two times in the past week, and unfortunately had the same experience both times with the same employee, Teri. Both interactions were extremely rude and unprofessional. During my most recent visit, I walked up, smiled, and said I was dropping off a package. She stared at me and responded, "Ok so all you're doing is dropping off a package? What, do you need a receipt or something?" The tone was completely unnecessary. I said yes, and she rolled her eyes before proceeding. What made it worse was being asked to complete a one-question survey about whether I was treated with courtesy, right after being treated with none. When I received my receipt, I said "thank you, have a nice day," and got no response. I initially gave this location another chance because I assumed she may have just been having a bad day, but after a second identical experience, it's clear this is just how she treats customers. Basic respect shouldn't be too much to ask for. I will not be returning. Also, the potholes in the parking lot seem to take up more surface area than the actual office. read more

If you own a small business and consistently need to ship here and prefer to have proof of shipment be prepared to be denied even when you're the only customer there. Doesn't have a self service kiosk and blames customers for that. Doesn't want to do their job and hide in the back even with the bell ringing 3 times. read more

I go here pretty regularly because the location is right on my way to work. The people who work here are friendly enough, but the service is notoriously slow. Sometimes you come in and there is a long line, other times it's shorter. Workers can disappear in the back for 10 minutes or longer, while people wait. They are clearly understaffed. Average wait time is 10-15 minutes, in my experience. If there was another option, any other option, I would take it. read more

Had an appointment for a passport. So did a family with little kids. We were told the person called in and we had to reschedule. We said we took off work, why weren't we notified? She was rude and dismissive. Other times when I go there the staff is openly arguing. Make customers feel uncomfortable. I only went there because it was close by. read more

I love this post office the employees are so nice. Jim and Deborah are my favorites. They really know what they're doing and I can always rely on them to offer the best mailing options. In a word, DEPLORABLE. We had an appointment at 11:45am on 11/30/24 (Sat) for a passport renewal (supposed to be 15 minutes). There was only 1 person (who was nice & I felt bad for her) working at the desk. The "passport" employee was on lunch break and still hadn't shown up for our "appointment" by 12:15pm. Couldn't wait any longer. DO NOT GO HERE for anything other than holiday stamps (you've been warned). read more

I just moved to the area and needed to use the post office. I went in with a positive attitude because historically my US post office visits aren't my favorite. As always, the experience was poor at best and disheartening. Everyone's personality is so sterile and non-helpful. It's just a bummer. Hopefully there's a better post office somewhere but maybe I'll just keep going to the UPS store. read more

Wow. Went to this USPS location to pick up a package that was held while we had our mail on a Vacation Hold. Although our held mail was delivered upon our return, a package was not. Using the tracking number from an email, I saw the package was still being held at the post office for pick up. I also used the virtual assistant via phone to confirm the package was being held. No problem. I'll drive over and pick it up. Unfortunately, the postal clerk behind the counter was extremely abrupt to the point of rudeness. I actually had to defend the fact that I wanted my package. I had to repeat that the carrier delivered our held mail, no the package was not delivered, no I did not have a Failed Attempt Notice. Eventually she got the package from the back room and threw it on the counter commenting, "Here." Her attitude was so grossly inappropriate when I had gone in with a smile on my face on a lovely day. I'm sure they get their share of demanding and unreasonable customers, but I wasn't one of them. I left speechless. It's time for that woman to retire and step aside for someone who actually wants the job. read more

We have lived in Barrington for over 10 years. For the most part, mail delivery has been consistently delivered mid day to late afternoon. Lately, mail is being delivered sometime after 6:30 pm. The letter from Cook County with our second installment or property tax bill was never delivered. We have other examples of mail we know was sent to us but never delivered. I just visited the main Barrington POS to talk to the post master. He was gone at 3:30. I asked to talk to a supervisor. All three refused to come to talk to me. Is this another ploy by Postmaster General Louis DeJoy to slow the mail prior to elections? read more

The Barrington Post Office is horrible horrible horrible, in every way. If I could leave zero stars, I would. The line is always super long and the service is slower than you can imagine. Multiple times I stood in line with only 3 people in front of me and waited 25-30 minutes. The employees are also unfriendly, curt, and unwilling to help in any way. Not very good use of our tax money. It'll be worth driving an extra 15 minutes to another post office. read more

If I could give the Barrington Post Office a zero, I would. Delivery is inconsistent, usually into the evening, employees are rude and indifferent, forwarding instructions are ignored and the Postmaster does not care. And we pay taxes to support this failed organization. It has been this way for 25 years. Unacceptable! read more

As of late the Barrington Postal Office has not be providing respectable or safe services. A few months ago, the mail truck drove into our backyard and almost hit our dog (which has an electric collar on and cannot leave our backyard). Driving around and tearing up our lawn at about 20 miles per hour. After that incident we asked that they did not turn around in our yard as we have plenty of room in the driveway to turn around, so much so that Amazon and UPS trucks have no issue. As a result, things have been deteriorating. Last week a delivery truck drove up our driveway, saw the backyard was blocked and drove off without delivering a package even though he had been parked 10 feet from our house. And today, they drove into our backyard again and tore up the lawn even further, then left a delivery of college textbooks out in the rain on our back deck. (We have a covered front porch and an overhang by the driveway that is perfect for placing packages). Due to the endangerment of our animals and physical damages they've caused to our property after repeated requests to respect our boundaries, I cannot in good faith recommend the Barrington Postal Service at this time. read more

They work there employees to death. When hired they are never told that it's a 7 day a week/12 hours a day job.

How do they do it? How does the post office have such a knack for hiring the rudest meanest people? Why work a job you obviously hate so much? There are other jobs out there! Was there with a labeled package to drop off today right at 6pm. They close at 6. The woman saw me in the lobby and slammed the door right in my face. What other business gets away with this? I've been in customer service for years....I recently applied at the USPS and the application scenarios were all about customer service. Ok look, All post offices are understaffed so that's the USPS for you. They all have only one person at the desk so do as much as you can ahead of time!! I think Teri is great! Just do your home work and come prepared and you will be in and out. People come unprepared and expect the staff to do everything for them. That may have worked in the past but THOSE DAYS ARE GONE! Go to Lake Zurich PO and wait 30 min and have them lose your package TOO!! read more

Called many times to find out tracking information regarding my package. Talked to Vincent the supervisor of shipping and he basically couldn't care less and ended up hanging up on my before finishing our conversation. It's sad to think Amazon can deliver my packages correctly but the USPS can't. read more

i get that the post office can bring in some rude and difficult customers sometimes especially because get anything done at the post office can be so confusing, but to be treated the way i was treated was unnecessary considering we pay for their salaries. I went in to to get a passport which i had never done by myself before and when i would ask questions they gave me the most snarkiest responses. I had never raised my tone, made a snarky remark or even get upset when she would respond to me and the fact that she felt that she could treat me horribly was so disappointing that i literally cried in the car right after. While many have described the employees as rude, I have to disagree. Teri has helped me many times, with many unusual mailing requests. She has been incredibly helpful and accommodating. Mike is no different. I do not envy them having to deal with the likes of people who are unappreciative day in and day out. Terry is the rudest person I have ever met. Seriously if you need a passport update go anywhere else. I have never been treated the way that I was here. I went in to get my passport renewed and had all the right paper work according the the us government website. Terry asked me "where is your birth certificate" and I said "the website said I didn't need it if I had my previous passport" and she goes "fine, have it your way but if it doesn't go through that's on you". I'm writing my review a few weeks later and I can say I got my passport and everything was fine. She also asked me to put my birthday on the check and when I asked why she said "because I said so". Why work in costumer service if you're going to be so rude. She needs to find a different job. When I left a message for the manager to complain I never got a response. Rudest treatment I have ever received. We reserved an appointment online to process a passport for my 12 year old son. He had to be present for the process so I reserved the first timeslot -- 9am-- to minimize how much school he would miss, and then we got there an hour early (8am) just in case there was a line. At 9am when the post office opened, they told they us we didn't have an appointment, and there were no appointments left for the day, even though we were the only customers in the post office. They said we should go to the post office in Pacific Palisades, which wouldn't receive us until after noon, so my son ended up missing an entire day of school. The most shocking thing was how the people spoke to us so snidely, and how they moved so slowly around the room like they had zero interest in getting anything done, after we had been so diligent in getting our paperwork prepared, getting there early, etc. As we left, the woman said in a very sarcastic tone "have a nice day." read more

Worst Service ever. They emptied my mail box and removed all my mail from my secured mail box and did not even leave a note. Because I got a package that does not fit in my mail box outside the gated subdivision and they refuse to deliver to my door even though they have all access to the gate. I called the post office, Carol answers the phone. She not only refused to redeliver my package which I am all entitled to, she also threatened me that she will send all my mail back if I don't come and pick it up. This is after 1 day of holding my mail which I did not even request. She even accused me that I am not a customer ( because I am receiving mail and packages) so she don't have to provide any service to me. When I order something online, I am paying for shipping fees !! If she doesn't know that, what is she doing at the POST OFFICE ? I am living in the area for 12 years and she dare to tell me that I am not a CUSTOMER. read more
