My first time at this post office, its the closest one to my house. Thursday morning, 3 customers, 2 clerks working, no line! Perfect! Not the most friendly people, but they great you without a smile and wich you a good day. The lady behind me told me where to stand in line, obviously I was standing 3 steps away from the sign. Duh! This post office would get 0 stars if I could. I'm a small business owner in Fremont who usually drives to the post office in Milpitas because they are more reliable than ANY post office in Fremont. I dropped off a package to ship priority mail on the 28th of June. I created the shipping label on June 27th. Today is July 2nd. It still says, "label created" even though I dropped it off. On July 1st I contacted the actual J Street Post office. An extremely rude Asian lady answered the phone. When I started to ask my question about my package, she just started loudly yelling. I tried to stop her from yelling. I told her to stop talking over me. I tried to maintain my composure, until I just hung up on her. Besides them being lazy, they're rude too. read more

On two separate occasions, mail sent from this location has either gone missing entirely or arrived significantly late. I suspect this is due to irregular or infrequent mail pickups from this branch. For reliable service, I strongly recommend using the Union City or Fremont main post office locations instead. read more

One of worst customer service I experienced at USPS today..Asking few questions if you are in doubt seems to be a problem at this branch. On top of that the lady at the counter started using loud voice. I have been visting this branch for few years but the customer rep was too rude today! Not the one I experienced earlier. read more

This review is on a Post Office. More specifically a little P O in the little area of Niles in Fremont. This location has a lot of charm for it immerses you in that small town vibe. The neighborhood has older but nice homes on wide streets with mature trees that shade the sidewalks. I went on a quiet weekday afternoon while running some errands and it definitely had a Mayberry feeling to it all. There's hardly ever a line, but on the same token there is usually only one clerk to service the public, so if several peeps happen to walk in at the same time, then the one clerk will have to serve them one at a time. I like this location because the larger offices seem too DMV-ish to me, and boy don't get me started on the DMV (mumble, mumble, effn' ***tards). I don't live in this neighborhood but i frequent it once in a while and it always makes me feel like a small towner. I get my haircuts here, an occasional beer over at the Flo and all my post office needs all in an hour. Oh yea since Eleanor is usually the only employee there, she goes to lunch at 1 PM, so their hours of op. are 8:30-1 then 2-5:30, mon-fri. Come take a stroll through our little town and watch time slow down, sometimes we need that sort of thing. read more

Best post office I've ever been to, without a doubt. So good, in fact, that I'm writing a review. If you live at all near it, GO HERE. For me, it's closer than the one on Dusterberry, and there are fewer people. I walked in just after 2pm, and walked out two minutes later with my business done, stress-free, wondering what the hell just happened because why am I not stressed and hating my life? I don't live in Niles, but I appreciated that the other folks in the post office knew Eleanor and made conversation with her. Someone even let me in front of him in line while he prepared a package for mailing. Kindness in a post office? I never thought it possible until today. read more

For those who do not understand Lil olde towns, you are certainly welcome to the thousands of highly automated Stations, tended by typical G-job clerks. Your High-speed world is certainly 'your speed', and hopefully will keep you out of Niles, and your attitudes in check. Want to see real country post offices, may I suggest Ravendale, or Rio Dell or Manila [in Humboldt County] or some of the one postmaster/postmistress units on the north Coast. That's more like it! Thank you Yelpers for helping me find an alternative for the Dusterberry den of deficiency. Based on the ratings, I gave the Niles Post Office a shot. No long lines, and a very competent, courteous, and helpful clerk who talked me through the customs process. It was quick and easy. Also, she was up to date on what is and is not allowed for shipment overseas. From now on this is my post office, well worth the extra 5 minutes of driving. read more

There are many post offices, but this one is mine's. This is my local post office, I live within walking distance of this place and I take almost all of my mail here. I usually drop my letters here via my bicycle because I can get there and back without breaking a sweat but the great part of this place is since it is not on the main street not many people know about it so NO lines, most of the time. I went in once on tax day at like 3:00pm and there were only like 3 or 4 people in line but yes there is only one counter here so you do have to wait for the person in front of you. And than there is the lunch hour dilemma, they actually close during their lunch hour so you do have to worry about it a bit if you happen to be driving through Niles during the lunch hour, but who drives around Niles during the lunch hour? They have the usual drop boxes and stamps machine outside and there are a few PO Boxes in the front area but you go into this place, drop your mail off and go about your day. I only wish I can pickup my boxes here rather than the one on Dusteberry. read more

A Hidden gem! Eleanor is so nice and sweet. I use this location for everything. Small but efficient! There is usually only about 3-4 people in line vs. Dusterberry where there is more than 30 people in line. Yes, there is only one person helping, but the line moves fairly quickly. Sometimes there is even noone in line and I can get in and out within 5 minutes:) Most of the customers here are a lot friendlier too. Maybe its because of the shorter lines. the folks here are the epitomy of laziness and will not move for nobody (no customer service or help here). This place makes our gov work force look really bad. If i could nominate gov staff to be outsourced this is the place. Don't expect anything but the very minimal. Niles is my home and I am a very proud Niles resident but this Post Office staff I have nothing good to say but you might as well drive to Dusterberry or Union City if you need more than a drop box. Garbage post office. This is the worst place to go if you have any questions. The staff is lazy and seems uninformed about mostly any question you could have. If you have to go to another post office to get your question answered, then why even have one?! Plus they are rude and act like you asking them to do their job is a crime. Thanks US govt, maybe you should stop wasting money by bombing the middle east all the time and spend some money fixing up your offices instead. read more

The longer the line gets at this post office, the slower the woman behind the counter works; and she's slow to begin with. She's also been known to be rude at times, not to mention very nosy about what's in the package you are shipping. If not for her, this post office would get 4 stars. read more

After printing out an online shipping label,I went to the post office specified 160 J ST.At 1:30pm yesterday, there was a sign "sorry closed".There was No other info about when it would reopen or a phone contact.It's just common sense to have this info somewhere at the location.I had no idea if it was closed all day or until a certain time.Even if there was a phone number, I could call and hear a recording about the hours.I found an 800 number, waited on hold for 20 minutes, and the guy said he wasnt sure if they were open.Okay. I asked him to dig deeper and Find Out. He said, oh yeah, looks like they're closed from 1-2pm.Little things like this is why USPS loses so much $. read more

We love this post office because it is small and quick. At another larger post office, they lost two certified packages even though tracking said they had received them. This post office is so small, it is hard to lose packages like this. Elanor (spelling) has been there a lone time and is very friendly. read more

This post office location usually isn't too busy, and there's always parking, either right in front or across the street. (It's street parking only. No meters though.) Whenever I've been there, only one employee has been at the counter, but she's always helpful. Be aware that there is no self-service machine at this location. It says that it's open on Saturday, but you can only go there to access your mailbox. There's no one at the counter. read more

Went here on a Tuesday afternoon around 3pm to get a letter Certified Mailed. No complaints from me. I was in and out in 2 minutes.
