I am writing to share a negative customer service experience at the Sunol Post Office (11925 Main St, Sunol, CA 94586) regarding my passport appointments today. I had two passport appointments, the first from 9:45 AM to 10:15 AM and the second from 10:15 AM to 10:30 AM, and I arrived early for both. I filled out my passport forms at the office, following all procedures. Even though I was within my scheduled appointment times, the employee still refused to complete my passport application and very rudely told me to reschedule. From the beginning, the employee assisting me spoke rudely and tried to argue. I calmly asked him to speak respectfully, but at that point he began raising his voice and threatening to call the cops, repeatedly telling me to leave the property. He also appeared to avoid interaction by staying behind the counter and refusing to engage. I politely asked for his name three times, but he refused to provide it. I told him I would leave a negative review, and he responded that he didn't care and that I could do whatever I wanted. The way I was treated felt discriminatory and, from my perspective, came across as racist. As a result, my passport applications were not processed, and I had to reschedule both appointments, which caused significant inconvenience and stress. In my opinion, the United States Postal Service at this location should ensure employees interacting with customers maintain a professional and respectful attitude, because this level of service was unacceptable. I hope this situation is reviewed and that customer service improves so others do not have the same experience. I wish I could give this place less than a one star, but there's no option for that. read more

I am beyond frustrated right now. I scheduled an appointment online to get my baby's passport and photo taken. When I showed up, the staff asked if I had brought my own white cloth. I said no, and he told me that usually people bring their own background. I was stunned--why even offer this service if they can't provide a proper setup? Then, instead of having the right background, he just picked a random wall and took a quick shot of my baby with her head tilted and eyes closed. I said the picture didn't look good, and he brushed it off saying it would still "go through." I asked him to retake it, and he half-heartedly pressed the button once more and said that was fine. Now my baby's very first passport is stuck with a terrible picture, and I'm honestly so upset and disappointed. This whole experience was completely unprofessional. read more

Who is the angry post master in Sunol PO, ?? I was amazed when he refused to look for a package for me. He said he already knew that it wasn't there, that was because he had just sent it back. He is still sending my mail back after telling me he would hold it. I love the small town of Sunol but dealing with the postal worker there is a big let down. No idea of how to interact with the public, but he has hugest amount of sales due to post box purchases over 200 per year per person. Wow, tax payers are really getting screwed. We came here after our local post office (Santa Clara Lafayette) doesn't offer passport services due to budget cuts. Every other post office we called had appts two months from now or were first come first served with line ups starting at 6am and only taking the first forty applicants (Milpitas) or lining up at 5:30am (Willow Glen). Since we needed a passport for our little one, both parents needed to be there our friend referred us here we called on Monday and we go a Friday appt. Quaint little post office with super friendly staff and very helpful. Completely empty so we were in and out. Highly recommend this place! read more

Years after my review, USPS finally allows booking online and I was able to secure an appointment. Small parking lot but I was able to get a space. I was surprised only one person was working; the gentleman was taking care of both postal customers and passport customers, and he was very friendly and patient, and took care of our renewal efficiently. I applaud his work and now I have more appreciation for this tiny post office that gets things done. read more

I am shocked at how good the service was. Passports for my 2 daughters, in and out in about 20 minutes, even while he helped the other customers that came in. Very small and only the 1 person working, but WOW, efficient. You have to make the appointment online, but that was quick and easy too. Plenty of time slots available, even during this busy season. Be careful at this location. They will try to upsell overnight shipping for passport and sometimes without even fully explaining it to you. I recently went here for a passport application and the post office clerk tried to stick an overnight shipping fee (I never asked for overnight) without telling me and made it look like it's part of the passport application fees. This surprisingly tiny post office has got the best passport service and I live in Fremont. You need to make appointment online, not by phone. I have never been to this location however, I can already say they provide less than 1 star service. I'll start by saying I have been calling them for 3 straight days trying to get an appointment to process our passports. On like my 10th call, yesterday, someone finally answered, it was a man. As soon as I asked about getting an appointment for passport processing he just hung up on me. I felt extremely offended! They are working for the public and providing a service people need. As many Yelpers wrote, this Post Office doesn't answer the phone, yet requires you to make an appointment for passport service (which you can't do online). We came in person to make the appointment and were first in line. Mr. Singh, Post Office counter-person, stood behind the counter silently, facing us, no eye contact. Uhhhmm....I took the plunge, "Hi, I'd like to make an appoint..." Mr. Singh suddenly moved (he's alive!) and looked at the woman behind us. He asked what she wanted and processed that transaction. Then he stood still, silently, staring past us. Uhhh....now our turn? What are we dealing with here? Could this be: Macular Degeneration? That blindness where you can only see what's on the periphery? Autism? (I speak Klingon, hi, bIpIv'a'.) Racism? I'm taking a trip to Europe this summer and needed to apply for my passport. I live in Fremont and heard that the lines at the main post office were really bad. Someone recommended I head over to Sunol. Yesterday I called the Sunol post office at around 10:15am to make an appointment. The man on the phone was very nice. I arrived at the post office at 10:30am. There was no line and I was able to get everything squared away in less than 20 minutes. Art was the name of the kind gentleman who helped me. I was home by 11am. To top off this already wonderful experience, I brought two passport photos just in case I needed an extra. The extra one must have slipped out of my folder. Today I received an envelope in the mail containing my extra passport photo. Thanks Art for going above and beyond the call of duty! You made it easy breezy to apply for my passport! Recently dropped by the Sunol post office for the first time. Small and quaint, this is exactly what I would imagine out of a neighborhood post office. One staff member, Linda, (wo)manned the front desk and sorted the mail. I found her very courteous and helpful, making my visit a breeze. After accidentally dropping some personal effects in the parking lot, a good samaritan picked them up and handed them to the Linda, who promptly called me via phone to notify me. Went there at 8:40 given it says it's open at 8:30 on Yelp. Had all the kids with me for passport renewals given Yelp stated they had walk in appointments. The 1 star rating is more related for the tone and response of the clerk. First right when I walked in the door she said they are not open until 9am and don't take walk in pass port appointments. I just said Yelp shows you opening at 8:30...her response "Yelp is not the US post office". At that point I could see she doesn't care for my time and just left. I took my children to this post office to apply for passport in 2007. It was small, empty and quaint. The front desk gentleman helped us process our paperwork. Very friendly. The whole time we were there (about 30min), only one other person came in to drop off a letter. I love this place. Small town USA! Will go back there again to renew our passports. Im extremely upset i went in today and tried sending ome fertile eggs and the lady didnt know anything, i wish i could of gotten her name but i was running late for work and after all her calling and all she still couldnt figure it out. I'm posting this review to balance out the negative because most people don't understand that this is a SMALL town post office. Rarely do I see more than 2 people working in there at a time - yes it really is that small. The building itself is so tiny that I've seen the workers eat lunch outside because there's no room inside. If you see the workers smile and talking to the person behind you - they're probably locals and not cutting you off. Some folks around here don't have mailboxes or a safe place for packages so it's at the post office waiting for them to be picked up. For those complaining about not getting appointments for passports and the info they need, etc. Here's my take - if you're tech savvy enough to take the time and complain on Yelp then you should know how to use Google and search for passport application and process. You can also set up appointments at this location via online without having to call them or go there in person to make an appointment. There is very limited parking on the lot but you can park on the street. A word of advice: please don't speed around Main St. This is a rural town. Take a chill pill and enjoy the surroundings. read more

After a few horrendous experiences with other offices, I was referred here. I called at 820 am. I asked for a same day appointment...I was desperate. Linda? actually picked up the phone before the office was even OPEN! Linda? said they did not have any openings but she came back and gave me an appointment at 12:30 when I told her I had all my paperwork ready. We were in and out in 10 minutes- two passports! If you are in need of passport services and are in the Fremont or Union City Areas, come here! It's appointment only, but the process is so fast. The post master was so nice and friendly and even when I forgot a key document, she said she would wait for me to drive back home to retrieve it. The post office itself is very tiny- I think my living room is bigger, but you can tell they are highly organized and efficient. You have to drive through Niles Canyon to get here, but the car ride is pretty and the town of Sunol is cute! read more

Excellent passport service! Lina helped my family of 3 and we were done in less than 15 minutes. Very courteous and efficient... highly recommend! This post office is real good. Small but efficient. This review is about the passport renewal for a minor. The cool guy JB Singh is amazing. If everything is in place, the work can be done in few minutes. Whats everything in place mean by? Tips to prepare: 1) Fill the application on line and print it(one side one page, dont print back to back). Double check twice. 2) If you dont have photos, go to Costco and get them for $5. You just need one photo. Dont staple it, take to there. 3) Dont sign the application. You need to sign in front of the postal person. 4) Take check book. You need to write the application fee ($80) in the name of "Department of State". Rest can be paid by credit card or cash. If you are not clear, just take the check book, he will tell what to write. 5) Take a copy of your IDs(Driving licenses) both sides each for both the parents. It will be real quick to get these done. Hint: If you didnt get the appointment anywhere else. Call this post office and talk to this wonderful guy JB. Tell him that you Got everything in place(just list few of the above 5 points). Request him that "I will wait till someone with appointment, didnt show up since its urgent for me and I didnt get appointment anywhere". He is Sooooooo Kind.. he would help you out. Update: Today we are AGAIN successfully helped by JB. Even though did two trips, its a matter of total 20 - 30 min time spent and successfully applied for passport. This office shows what good service is all about! After waiting about an hour at the Pleasanton post office, i gave up and called the Sunol PO. They were as nice as could be. Since it was a simple passport renewal I was able to go in (and you can make appointments!) and get it done. In and out in less than 15 minutes. Awesome! read more

I echo another reviewer's rating--according to the site I need to call the phone number to schedule an appointment (for passport), but I have called the numbers for 2 consecutive days during business hours, and no one answers the phone. The recorded message simply say call back again. Please pick up the phone when people call or at a minimum, allow a way to record a voicemail so you can call back when you are less busy. read more
