Without going into specifics, I've had two separate experiences at this post office ( 45 Bay Street ) both regarding the exact same issue, and they couldn't have been more different! On my first visit, I was extremely disappointed. The employees I dealt with were dismissive , condescending , and unhelpful, making what should have been a straightforward process frustrating and stressful. Both employees were female, one was a manager, both left me feeling upset and I promised I would avoid going back there again. A few months go by and unfortunately I was left with only one option , I would need to make an in person visit to this location again . I can't describe the anxiety I felt and wish I could've avoided it entirely . After procrastinating a few days, I worked up enough confidence to go . On this second visit, I was helped by a male employee who completely turned things around. He was professional, respectful and made sure the minor issue I had was addressed properly and fast! He smiled and in my opinion set a good example for other employees.His kindness and knowledge made all the difference, and I left feeling grateful and relieved. On the contrary, my first visit , both females attending to my minor issue--- including the manager expressed poor body language , condescending voice tone, also rolling their eyes, making me feel as if I were a burden just because I was a customer . It's frustrating that the level of service at 45 Bay Street can be so inconsistent depending on who you work with. I hope the positive example I experienced can become the standard, because customers deserve the same helpful, respectful treatment every time they walk in. Thankyou!

They forged my signature and dropped the box in front of my door in a black plastic bag. Opened the bag the box is soaking wet and smelled like vinegar. Took it back to the post office the next day and explained to the supervisor, it was delivered signature required I never signed and presented her the box inside the plastic bag. She whispered to the teller "those are MTA uniforms" then tells me they had an entire shipment of boxes that came to them wet. Yet instead of sending them back and saying it was damaged in transit they decided to send them to me. Because of my connections I called another post office and had them run the tracking number and I was told "someone signed it as if they were you and they spelled your first name wrong" . Isn't that a federal offense? The supervisor sent it back "refused" so, now I have to call the uniform company and tell them what happened and let them know to look out for the damaged box and to resend the uniforms to me once they receive the package. I have so many horror stories from this post office including my income tax check never made it to me and it was cashed. IRS did an investigation sent me another check. That one was cashed too but, yet it made it to the post office both times. I'm over them.

Update/ July 2026…read more When you think this location can't get any worse, at 4pm on a Tuesday there's a single clerk and I've been in line for over 15 mins and judging by how slow the line is moving I'll probably be here for another 30 mins just to drop off a labeled package. They don't even have a window for drop offs. This is a true illustration of Bayonne, a town that got stuck in the 80s and simply doesn't want to move forward.

The lines are excessively long, and the counter is typically staffed by only two people who if were matched up in a 100 meter race against snails, would absolutely lose to the snails. No matter how busy or packed this place gets, the staff exhibits no sense of urgency or expediency whatsoever. And their mannerism is lacking in the most basic of customer service skills - courtesy. I dread any occasion I have to visit this establishment even more than a proctological examination.
