Very bad experience with trying to get my passport processed…read more Tried to schedule online and found an appointment several days in the future, on Saturday morning, and took it for both passport and photo. I arrived 10 minutes early for the appointment to find the place apparently closed. The lobby door was open, voices were coming from behind the door to the left, but the lights were off and door locked to the passport office. The door to the office was decorated with a variety of contradictory signs, which if you put them together would indicate that they take more lunches than a hobbit. Also, apparently they do not take passport photos even if they accept appointments for that service. Also, apparently they do not actually come in to provide services even after accepting appointments for this. While I was waiting and trying to figure out if I had made a mistake two other families came in, all with an appointment at the same location for passport services. We all stared at the darkened door. One couple knocked, resulting in the voices behind the closed door going quiet but no other response. If the facility is closed on Saturday (which is not the case from their posted times) then they should not accept appointments for that day. If something came up and the staff could not make it, why did they not call or text us?

Misleading! This is not a traditional post office. Do not come here hoping to mail something or but…read morestamps, but do go here for passport photos and purchases. Not sure what else patrons may need. No complaints on service, just that I was mistaken, parked, and went in before realizing they can't help with what I needed.

Use this post office regularly....like it cause the staff is very customer friendly and always…read moregives great service and they move quickly to cut down on any wait time... Worst time to hit this location is 8 AM to 8:30 AM, 12 Noon to 12:30 PM and 1:30 PM to 2 PM....any other time it's practically deserted and depending on what you're used to the crowd at those times might be nothing.... They have all the shipping boxes, envelopes and services offered at larger locations....

When I went bonkers and decided to hock most of my extensive, out of control, American Girl…read morecollection on EBay, I practically lived at this charming, little post office. I was there literally everyday to ship my goods. I actually live in the Prairieville zip code, but I'm closer to the Geismar post office. That's not the only reason why I prefer it over Prairieville, though. I prefer it because it's Geismar's best kept secret. A lot of people don't realize that small, sleepy Geismar has their own post office, so it doesn't have nearly the traffic and chaos the Prairieville one has. I feel bad spreading the word about it because I want to keep this place all to my greedy, little self. There's rarely a line and if there is it's like one or two people tops. I was doing the lion's share of my ebaying around Christmas which I would assume is the busiest time of year for post offices and I think one afternoon I had to wait for three people in front of me. Not bad, especially compared to the Prairieville office which is like mailing your package at Grand Central Station with often times a line extending out the door into the lobby. The clerk lady is very pleasant and seems to know just about everybody who comes in there. It's one of those small town post offices. It reminds me of the one I used to go to way back in the day as a little girl growing up in Michigan. I guess it makes it all the more endearing to me. It has that old school vibe with that ancient, library smell to it. Look at that posted photo of the lettering outside on the bricks. That font sure ain't Comic Sans or Pacifico. It's channeling 1950 something. Did I mention I adore anything vintage? They do sell boxes, document mailers, and padded envelopes. I don't think they do passports, though. They are open on Saturdays, but only for like two hours or so. One thing about this place (not a criticism, really) is they are closed for lunch hour between 12:30-1:30pm. They are militant about the timing on that. I've been there waiting in the lobby at say 1:27 and they literally open the door right when the clock (or my cellphone) strikes 1:30. At least they are very, very, very punctual. I've never had any issues with my packages arriving late or damaged. If anything, I've had them arrive ahead of schedule. The parking lot is microscopic, but it's not really an issue since the place is never crowded. It's nothing to slag them down a star over. I'm thrilled this handy, little post office exists and when I go back to pawning off my American Girl doll shit I will definitely be back.
