This job is literally hell on earth from day one. The management is by far the worst people in the world. The other carrier are the only decent people but everyone would gladly throw you under the bus to save there ass. The have very strict and unreasonable expectations that put you and others at risk. If you don't meet those unreasonable and impossible expectations you get threatened and abused repeatedly. They have a horrible turnover rate and lay people off without notice for absolutely nothing. I was laid off 5 days before my 90 day ended and was never given a reason why. My post master became hostile and my supervisor was horrible and two faced. The pay was a little better but not worth the nightmare that you put up with daily and the lack of job security. CCAs havs worked there for some years and never get hired on as regular and quit generally before it will ever happen. They preach about safety but the pack the most dangerous vehicles full of mountains of mail and parcels that logistically cannot fit in the LLV. If anyone reading this is considering this opportunity there is a reason they keep on hiring! They are desperate beyond belief and they let tons of people go. Don't let them pull the same crap as they did to me as they will do to you. Keep you sanity!

While I was here I learned a little bit about this town and got to walk, drive and hike around a little too. One thing I noticed was the fact that the businesses on Main St. leave out bowls of water for people walking their dogs, never have I ever seen that ANYWHERE. There are many small businesses in town and it seems that all of the ones I've visited for one reason or another treat you like family. The locals are friendly as ever and I know of at least one local who will go so far as to let you follow him to your destination if you've gotten lost. The towns streets are almost spotless, combined the freshness of the air and crystal clear night sky so devoid of the light pollution I've become familiar with back home has made me fall madly in love with this town. The local bar is Spring House Tavern on Main Street, aptly named because it was once the only place where you could get fresh water from a spring in the buildings basement. Nice place for a cold one. An important historical place in Harper Ferry's, and America's, History…read more This fort is one of the most important and well-known buildings in Harpers Ferry. At first glance it looks like a simple brick firehouse with arched doors that were open when we visited. It had a closed office that a tour guide told us led to a small second floor, but it holds a major place in American history. This is the site of John Brown's raid in 1859. He and his group of abolitionists tried to seize the federal arsenal and start a movement against slavery. The raid failed and Brown was captured, but the event pushed the country closer to the Civil War and made the fort a symbol of both freedom and conflict. The fort has been moved several times over the years, but now sits in the lower town area of Harpers Ferry National Historical Park, not far from the confluence of the rivers and the other historic buildings. There are signs nearby that explain its background and the story of the raid. Anybody can walk right up to the structure and walk and look inside. Admission is included with the entry fee for Harpers Ferry National Historical Park, which covers parking and the shuttle bus system, so there is no separate charge to see the fort itself. The site does not have a tour guide or park ranger, but the informational signs and a decent google search will provide you information on the site. If you are going to visit the city, this is a must see site for you. The visit may seem simple on the surface because it is just a small brick building, but understanding its history gives you a true sense of how one short event helped shape the nation's history. It is a place that makes you stop, think, and remember the struggles that led to freedom and the change that made our country what it is today.

The building is started out as a storage area for the local fire engine, but was taken over by John Brown during his attempt to capture the nearby U.S. Armory. The insurrectionist took cover in this building until COL Robert E. Lee (yes, THAT Lee) lead an attack which captured Brown and his men. The building has been dismantled and rebuilt several times, so it isn't even all that original. It's not even on its original spot. Inside, all you see are a few plaques and a historic fire engine. That's all, folks. If you're interested in the history of the place, your best bet is to visit the NPS station nearby, and look for a tour. Visiting here should take no more than a few minutes.

Not sure if it's because of holidays. We didn't go into any shop. Nothing we were interested in. I saw some homeless people hanging around. To me, it's not a very "shopping" feeling.

The Old Town is a closed walk only street filled with restaurants, shops, museum and other…read moreactivities. The brick pathway is about quarter mile long, decorated with flower beds and trees. Multiple parking lots are available around the block, only few steps from the main walking path. There are restrooms available as well. We entered from the E Cork St, where there were a bunch shady people hanging out at the entrance. We went around 7pm when most of the shops were already closed, only the restaurants and bars were open. We saw the splash pad was out of service and closed for the season. We enjoyed the walk for few minutes and decided to head back since the shops were closed. Probably the area is more vibrant during the day.
