In terms of customer service, this was one of the best USPSes I've been to. However, I am puzzled by how the line can be way out the door and they still only decide to open two reception desks. The clerks are doing what they can to keep the line open, asking mini services they can preform if there is a hold up with their current client. I have to say too that the public needs to be mindful of the people around them and should conduct all of their finished packaging and mail writing before entering the line... or at the very least before the service desk. Atrocious wait time and horrible parking situation makes this location one of the worst ones in my opinion. My car door got bashed by a Mercedes driving woman getting in and out the car. She didn't even stop and see if she caused any damages. She sped away. The parking lot has a lot of dead angles where people who shouldn't be driving come and go. Ahhh the beauty of Irvine shines through here quite brightly. It's not so much because of the poor service rendered by the actual postal workers that makes this location so terrible. It's the behaviors of the customers that causes a lot of delays and frustration. I am still experiencing secondhand embarrassment days later. Some are not the most prepared with their stuff before their turn. Like not having the address needed to send the package. As always, there's always someone who tries to haggle, complain about the prices, or try to get the whole transaction redone to switch to a cheaper no frills option. It's honestly astonishing to me how little concerns those expensive car driving people have for others once inside. Very low class and one of many reasons why I absolutely abhor Irvine area anything. I don't know why this post office doesn't have more stars. My experience at this post office was nothing less than excellent. There was quite a bit of a line because I came at 2:30 PM in the afternoon and they close at 5 PM. Nevertheless, the lady helping me out Colette was very kind and also save me money by letting me know that I don't have to send my mail as certified if I am mailing it in a priority envelope anyway. I came here to renew my passport today and it was a lovely experience. Last time I was at USPS post office, I was quite traumatized by the experience and how rude they were but I really like this post office and their customer service. This is because when you are moving in, before you put your name on the box, they mark it as vacant and send back your mails without even waiting one day. This happened to me several times, and I don't think I'm the only one. Honestly, the people at the counter are nice for the most part. Sunny has helped me a couple times and she's been nothing but sweet. One lady was extremely rude so I always avoid her now. My biggest issue is with their mail person. Every time I'm expecting a signature required package, they NEVER come to the door. It's always a "Sorry we missed you slip" in the mailbox. I will be at home waiting and am only met with disappointment when I see the slip. Like why do I even pay for extra for signature if I have to go to the post office to pick it up? This most recent time, I have food in my package as it's international. Had someone at home to help me bring it and in, and never heard someone at the door. And it sucks because the weather was warm today so now I'm paranoid my goods are going to go bad. Calling in did nothing outside of, "come by tomorrow to pick it up" as if I don't have to work? It's extremely frustrating to know that I pay extra for shipping just for me to have to take time out of my day to wait to get my package. I dread the pick up line the most. It can take up to half an hour and I feel that it's ALWAYS a long line. Additionally, I really dislike that they don't scan packages at drop off. They tell you to just put it in the carts, and I get that it's for efficiency, but it is not fair for the shippers. I've had a package sit in limbo for nearly a month and I had to call in to ask about it. Their response? "It happens. Sometimes it doesn't get scanned in until it gets there." The package was found and scanned in on the day it was found as accepted. So yeah, your packages will not be found unless you call and ask about it. The kiosks are really nice though. It allows me to scan in my own package. I just wish there were safer ways at drop off outside of the carts because it does make it easier for people to take them. read more

This was my first time at a post office in Orange County. I reside in Los Angeles, but I had business in OC and needed to return a package to a company that I have been doing business with for many years and have returned stuff before. Usually, I just mail it in LA using their return service but packages can sit at the LA Post Offices for 3 to 5 days before anyone picks them up--it's frustrating. I drop them off on a Monday and it gets out on the truck on Thurs or Fri! Wanted to see how long it takes for the package to move out in OC? Is it an operational issue in LA or is it the same delay in OC? Answer this time in OC: Package was scanned moving out on the truck in 12 hours! I dropped off at 3 PM, out the door on the truck at 3 AM. Could not believe so fast in OC. Now I took off a Star because of what happened at the counter that never happens in LA: In LA, after the clerk scans the package--they take it from you and place it in a bin behind the counter so it does not get stolen by the usual peeps there that hang out looking to steal packages. But in OC, after the clerk scanned the package, she gave it back to me to carry to a large bin in the Customer Area to drop off myself! I have never ever had that happen in many LA post offices. That is a "no no" in LA--anyone can walk off with your package! I guess they don't have much package theft in OC? Honest efficient population base. I tried my best to bury my box under all the other boxes... I will come back here when in OC and need packages delivered quickly. Easy free parking in the front. read more

Used the machine to purchase labels for 3 flat rate boxes all going to me personally and wouldn't you imagine the one with some expensive clare v bags didn't make it home..someone at this Irvine PO lifted that box and probably reselling the bags.. very sad thieves at this PO! the only stamp on this one was from the label I purchased and I dropped all the boxes thru the slot. USPS Irvine/Sand Canyon is a dysfunctional operation: Package pick-up is an absolute disaster. The staffers are nice people (hence 2 stars vs. 1) - yet they lack the organizational efficiency of USPS at large. I shipped a package (via USPS click & ship) to this location containing Christmas gifts - the package should have been placed in a Smart Locker. It wasn't. I stood in line at the main counter just before closing on 12/23 - when I reached the counter, the staffer told me she couldn't help me - I'd need to visit the "package pickup window" the next day. Shortly before 9am on 12/24, I stood in the package pickup line and waited. The line (~10 people) wasn't moving - staffers were running in circles, unable to locate packages. Eventually, as frustrated patrons stood aside (or tried the main counter), I was called up. My experience was so comically bad, it could have been an SNL skit. I could see my package on the shelf (~15 feet away), presented my ID, and directed the staffer, Mont, to it. He took a look and replied, "No, Ma'am." He told me to write down the address - I complied. He then took that sheet of paper, walked right by my package, and out of sight (exit stage left!). Several minutes later he passed by again (exit stage right!). All the while, I'm staring at my package while this man is wandering aimlessly because he wouldn't listen to me! He returned and I implored him, "Please, Sir, take another look at THAT package. I'm sure it's mine." He did and (voila!) returned with my package... There was only one problem, he explained: "This package is supposed to be in a smart locker." He wasn't supposed to hand it over to me, as that would be breaking protocol! OMG... I've provided my ID - I've located my own package (which I paid to ship) - and NOW there's red tape? He sensed my exasperation, made an exception, and let me have my package. I know it's the holidays - folks are juggling a lot, and trying their best. Yet this wasn't excessive workload (10 people in line for packages) - it was utter dysfunction. read more

USPS were really on the ball this holiday season! 10 stars if I could! They had massive queues everyday and the staff maintained the rush with calm and patience. They always had free priority packaging available at hand even though the crowds were grabbing them by the bundles. As a daily shipper, shipping over 100 packages in December, I'm so impressed with the way they handled the Holiday volumes. None of my packages were lost or misplaced AND everything I posted would be processed the same evening. The quarterly price of PO boxes continues to skyrocket yet this P.O. continues to cut the hours we can actually access our mail! The lobby used to be unlocked until 7:30 pm except for the employee(s) who lock it early for their own personal reasons. No changes or even the access hours are posted on or near the door where the mail counter hours are posted. I've lost count of how many wasted trips I've made in the past 2 yrs trying get MY mail, only to find a locked door! This time it's been 25 days since I've had access to my overpriced PO Box and the delays in receiving my mail has cost me dearly aside from the USPS $200 annual fee! This is unacceptable! When I placed my change of address/forwarding notice in the mail slot inside this PO, I never dreamed the USPS would lose it! It was weeks until I learned it never made it to my previous PO, just 30 miles away... Which meant my previous box closed without a forwarding address and I'll never know everything I lost that was RTS because of their huge F up! As a result, I received no mail for 2+ months and was never refunded the box fee I paid for with no mail forwarded to it, huge waste! read more

Is it a requirement for all USPS workers to be extremely rude? Like many other reviews if I could give 0 stars I would. Made an appointment to get my newborns passport (for context I just got my daughter's passport a year ago) the worker Olga from Russia or Ukraine already started very rudely saying that we were late for the appointment but there was no one at the passport office when we arrived. We made the appointment with the passport picture fee and she started off that we couldn't take a picture on site. (Mind you, my daughter which we processed a year ago, we didn't have to bring pictures and we were able to fill out the application on site) I mentioned that we opted out for the pictures taken there too which she said it was not allowed. I said to her that my daughter just had hers done last year... she abruptly interrupted me saying "sir I don't care about last year." And proceeded to say "I have been doing this for 18 years" with a heavy Russian accent (you would think 18 years in the US you would speak English correctly). She then proceeded to say we needed to come back and make another appointment for no reason? Terrible service, USPS should just go bankrupt and go fully private. Avoid this location read more

I went in to mail a package internationally. I normally use click-n-ship but I didn't have international priority envelope so I went in around 3pm on a Tuesday. The line was short, and all three people at the window were attentive and line moved quickly. The person who helped me was Sunny, and she was so friendly and kind, efficient and very helpful. She quickly helped me pick the best option to mail as well as gave me some advice on cost saving. She didn't rush me but very good at guiding so everything was done very quickly. She is a gem!
