2023: Terrible, terrible, terrible service. 2 days ago this P.O. said they delivered a package to me in my community mail box. Once again it wasn't there. This is the 8th time this has happened over the years. 3 times already I have had to drive to this P.O. on the same day they said they delivered something to me, to tell them the item was not delivered and then they send someone out to check all the other parcel boxes in my community mailbox to try and find my package. If they can't find it, the sender will not replace it or refund me because this P.O. says they delivered it to me. I've had neighbors walk my package or mail to my house because this P.O. put it in their mailbox. Today it rained heavily. The mail carrier came to my house because my package was too big to fit in the community mailbox parcel box. The carrier threw it on the soaking wet sidewalk leading to my house rather than walk another 8' to place it on a bench by my door, which is protected from rain. It then rained for hours turning my package into a soggy mess and ruining the clothing in it. This never stops and when I complain in person about all this, I am always told they have trouble finding good employees. UPS, Fed Ex and Amazon's delivery services are far superior to this P.O.'s incompetence. Never, ever use this P.O. if you can get your item delivered by another service. read more

Good customer service at the counter, but don't even bother trying to call the local telephone number for this location. Have been living here for 6 months and have called and called and called and called and called and called. They NEVER, EVER pick up. If nobody's going to answer the phone, please don't publish the number! We paid online for a PO Box, went in the next day to pick up the keys, and tried them out just to make sure they worked. A couple days later, went in to check for mail and the keys didn't work. Locks had been changed with no notice. And since no one will answer the phone, will have to drive into Redding just to get an answer. They've also been delivering mail for the former tenants to our place even though I've written "not at this address" plenty of times on the people's mail. No biggie but seems like they'd just hold the mail at the distribution center. I don't know. Something's out of sync at this post office. I don't know why this post office got such bad reviews. I came here twice on my business trip and both times received great customer service. I had ordered a package to be sent to my hotel but it wasn't going to make it in time before I have to check out. The post office advised me to have the hotel forward it to my residence, that way it'll save me the $12.95 intercepting fee. While figuring this issue out, I had many people come up to me and ask if I needed help. Overall, it was a great experience. read more

There is a reason this Post Office gets such low reviews. I called in today because my letter carrier decided my box was too full for too long and sent it all back to sender. ALL OF IT! Apparently you are required to check your mail everyday. The woman I spoke with had a very bad attitude. I used to be upset that the USPS closed down the processing center here, but now, not so much. The letter carrier drove BY MY HOUSE to deliver all the mail on our cul-de-sac and could have left a note to clear out our box, but chose the most damaging. read more

So i just came in to do my passport application, and the lady was very nice and professional. but when asked about expedited services, she told me they weren't doing that. she had circled a number for me to call if i had any questions, i called this number and that lady told me As on September 23rd, They started redoing those services. I feel like this is something you should be updated on, It says that right on the website so now instead of just paying the extra $60.00 dollars right then and there. i have to go through all these hoops just to get those services. i have to wait for my application to process for 7 days. then i can call back which i was on hold for over 35 minutes already. give my card information then that takes 20 days to process. then i "might" get expedited services. I feel like if your staff was updated on what's going on with passport applications. you'd make a lot more people less irritated. other than that. My customer service experience was great she was very nice and seemed like she's been doing this for awhile. read more

I had a suit being shipped to me for a funeral and was waiting at home to receive my package. I have been home all day and after I checked the front door, a delivery notice was left. Noone knocked or rang the door bell to check if I was home. I will never USPS again. They have terrible service. If you need a package shipped, use DHL or another carrier. read more

I'm very disappointed in this office and in the USPS all around. In order to find a lost package, I was sent to wait in three different lines and then finally referred to a manager who offered the 1-800 number that I waited on for 50 minutes with absolutely no help! Went in to mail a package this morning and was treated extremely rudely by Evie. She yelled down for the next customer. .. then left her window. The next person in line was a young woman with a toddler and an infant in a carrier. A different window became available while she waited for Evie to return and we sent her to it , as we were behind her. Evie returned and yelled out" when you can figure out who's next I'm ready!" I commented that she said that and then left. To which she said" I said I'd be back in a minute." She was extremely rude and loud! We will ship with another company from now on! Had a package lost that was sent to my workplace in the area. I found out that mis-deliveries were a common occurrence from coworkers. Checked with two other business around the area which also had misdeliveries from another business (not mine unfortunately) and still came up empty. I'll make sure not to buy anything that uses USPS in this area from now on. read more

Seriously had a package go through 3 different post offices down south all within one single day. THE SECOND it reaches redding post office the package gets delayed by 3 days. THREE DAYS. I've been going to the Redding CA Churn Creek post Office for 20 years. I have probably spent $150,000 on shipping for my business and I'm a regular customer. Overall this place is full of very nice helpful people...............Except one, an old woman near retirement age named Elaine. I have had numerous problems with this rude clerk and if you let her, she will overcharge you. I filed a formal complaint with her supervisors but she is still working there. So I recommend that anyone that wants to stay in a good mood, just avoid her services. read more

Terrible, irresponsible service. Dropped package off at the wrong house, tried to return another package to sender using the excuse that package is undeliverable as addressed even though the address was clear and correct, puts my mail in various neighbor's mailboxes, leaves a notice that says "No secure location available" when my very secure house is right there and we are home all that day. Magazines don't show up. Mail gets put in the waterproof mailbox box, soaking wet. Endless complaints change nothing. The service just keeps getting worse. read more

If zero stars were an option, that's what they'd get. The employees at this post office should seriously reconsider working in customer service if they absolutely hate dealing with people so much. One of the ladies at the counter just said she didn't want to tape my label onto the package because heaven forbid it makes her do a little bit of work. I grabbed my package and untaped label and left. Now I'm driving all the way to Anderson Post Office because at least the people there talk to you like you're human being. read more

Another rude experience with Tamara. They should really consider replacing her. But I think the postal service is union meaning its nearly impossible to get fired which continues her rude behavior to the public. Sweeten up lady, being a little more helpful can go a long way. Extremely rude person at desk. In from out of town trying to mail box for local resident who was at work. The box was a heavy box to be mailed by media mail. While we understand when they told us it needed to be taped more the employee continued to berate my husband repeatedly about why had we even brought it in that way. Horrible customer service. Lost mail on 4 separate occassions.....and to po box. Lie to cover it up. No supervision and no secondary plans. If a machine can't read a barcode then mail is lost. My bills have been uncontrollably late and there hasn't been a change nor does this establishment see a problem to change that . SHIP THROUGH ANYONE BUT THEM. Do not ship through usps. Use any other carrier. I tried to ship a package to my brother for his birthday, verified his address before sending and the package was just returned to me saying that there is no such address. I went into the post office and they were no help at all. They were still insisting that the address was incorrect. The address comes up on google and my brother gets mail there all the time from other carriers such as UPS. Lesson learned. Never using usps again. So after many years of being an advocate for the USPS since i do a lot of shipping all over, i have to write this unfavorable review due to some sketchy service issues and interactions with employees who forgot what customer service is. The recent scare of the Redding post office center on Churn creek had many employees gathering out front on the street passing petitions and holding signs to save the Post Office, but it is painfully obvious that the Service has Deteriorated so far and the work ethic of the employees has made other shipping options a consideration to a lot of people including myself. There is one Clerk in particular Elaine, an older lady with long gray hair. She always gives me a snippity attitude when im in line and they need to facilitate the shipments to Save time i guess. anyway day before yesterday she noticed i had a Priority mail box wrapped around my package which my intent was to ship priority until i noticed over a 20 dollar discrepancy for standard freight. so i changed and forgot to remove the priority box. anyway she pointed it out very rudely, and i wasn't even in line yet. anyway i removed the box and put it with the other boxes i had to ship on the counter for dispatch. anyway she took it upon herself to weigh my boxes and found one of them was 6 ounces over weight. instead of checking to see how much postage was due she set the box aside for return to sender. the box sat in the facility until the next morning. i believe she was malicious in the intent because there was no difference in price to ship my box either way. consequently it cost me another trip down to the post office and meet with the management to get it all straightened out. long story short that malicious act cost the post office a lot more to hold my package and re send it to another post office and have it handled by more people and then re delivered to my home again. So if Elaine from the Main USPS center in Redding on churn creek creates an issue with a box you are sending anywhere, then i suggest do NOT leave it anywhere she can get her hands on it or else you dont know what might happen. in general there are some really nice clerks there that i enjoy seeing when i go there, 2 guys for sure that are super nice. There are some odd ducks for sure but id seriously not go anywhere near Elaine ever again! read more

Had a package delivered through USPS. The tracking number said delivered, however when I got home there was no package in the mail box. I live in an apartment so I waited a couple of days for someone to turn into the front office, or to me. I then started to call the Redding Post Office to try and find out what happened. Number one, they don't answer their phone. I had to call the downtown post office and explain the situation to get a different number (530-223-7564) which is for the back room where all the stuff gets put out for delivery. Anyways, AJ answered and told me he would ask the carrier of my area what happened. Time passed with no call back, so I called him. He said the carrier doesn't know anything and he probably delivered to the wrong mailbox, so AJ said he would go out and check all the mailboxes personally and call me back. Time passed with no call back, so I called him. He said he went out and couldn't find anything, which was no surprise. He said I had to file a lost package claim through usps.com. After spending my morning creating a profile and filing a claim, I know I will get nothing back for compensation. If this were any other company, they would give me a refund for something they admittedly screwed up on. I dont believe anything these people say. They are terrible. read more

P.O. carrier states delivery attempted at 8:47 AM , I was home, no notice at door when it was stated to have been left. Security cameras verify no delivery was attempted. We have two businesses plus our personal mail that come to the same box. Checked Wednesday, March 28th, no mail, Thursday, March 29th, no mail. We NEVER have a day with no mail even it is only junk mail! Were headed out of town for the weekend so decided that when I came back late Sunday, April 1st if there still was no mail then I needed to get to the Churn Office first thing Monday morning. Mind you, for two days off and on all day I tried to contact the office at the number listed. Well they might as well disconnect that line and save their money! Never got an answer, in fact it would ring so long and then go to a busy signal. So at 9 a.m. on Monday I was there and was referred to the lady behind the door at the left end of the service counter. Rang the bell and she answered. Explained my situation and she went off! Her answer to my problem was that they were changing the locks and they could not deliver the mail until that was complete. I asked why we weren't notified of this and her answer was that they did not have enough personnel to run around the mountains and tell everyone. I explained that I did not live in the mountains and that out of basic courtesy a simple note on the mailbox directing us to get our mail at the office would have been much appreciated. Was then directed to the "half" door in the Main Lobby to speak with someone and I informed her that it was closed because that is where I went initially, she told me that it in fact was open and that I would have to go there for futher assistance. It was not open, but then someone did come to help, that person was gone for a good 15 or more minutes and came back with nothing and I was asked to step to the counter and someone else would help me. Now I am getting worried. The supervisor came and spoke with me and I again explained my situation and indeed did tell him about his rude and unprofessional employee and his response was a slight giggle and said that was just her personality. Really! I did tell him that because of her personality, that is probably why she does not work the counter and deal with the public. Still did not get my mail because it was already on the truck to be delivered today but was informed that the cluster box was damaged and they were not able to fix it until Saturday, March 31st so they did not want to deliver any mail until it was repaired. Well, once again US Postal Service, a mere handwritten noted taped to the front of the boxes would have saved myself and many of my neighbors a lot of frustration and concern! read more

I have serious concerns about what is happening with our mail service. Since June I have been missing TWO sets of DMV stickers for my car, sent at different times, a drivers license for my son, a new bank card sent by my bank, and a few birthday cards that had cash in them from my relatives for my little girl. No one can tell me this is a coincidence. I have verified and reverified that everyone had our correct address AND we have locked mailboxes so this leads me to believe that someone at the post office is conveniently stealing our mail. I have made formal complaints but this continues to happen. The new mailman they put on our route has ZERO personality...I thought maybe the last one got fired for stealing or something but the problem continues even with the new person. I think I might need to get a box AT the post office, but if it's an inside job it's not gonna help. Our mail isn't safe anymore. read more
