My wife and I are extremely impressed with United Sun Energy. We moved up here from Pasadena a couple years ago and we're looking to put solar on the house we bought. We previously had solar on the home we just sold down south. We were happy with our solar on our last house and were used to saving lots of money. We had decided that we were never going to go back to the paying the those old high electricity costs! Being experienced with solar, we knew what to look for in a contractor. We also knew what was important in a system and what was not. We interviewed quite a few companies here before deciding. We did not tell anyone that we had already owned solar before, however. What impressed us first was they were very up front and informative with their presentation. We felt like they were giving us the facts rather than trying to sell us something. One of the other companies said they would "zero out" our bill when we already knew that wasn't possible. Two of the other companies claimed we would get more system production with smaller systems. Had we not had any experience, we might have believed them. But United Sun Energy gave us sound and realistic information. And very importantly, they were priced very competitively. They were by far the best value out of all of the quotes we received. They had the best warranty and tons of experience. It's now been a couple years since they installed our solar. Everything has worked perfectly since then. Our system produced slightly more electricity then they said it would, so we were pleasantly surprised. They were very accurate in their estimate. Looking back, there is no way that the other two companies who had proposed the smaller systems would have met the numbers that they were giving us. So not only did we feel at the time we were making the right choice with United Eun Energy, our experience has definitely proved it as well. Update: Another year with solar has passed and our system has worked perfectly. We have saved over $10,000 over the last 3 years. We actually have been paying down our mortgage with all of the money we are saving. I have calculated it out and if I keep applying our savings, we will pay off our mortgage 9 years early! This has been the best investment ever! Review Left Previously: We used United Sun Energy to install our solar just about 2 years ago. (Sorry guys that I waited until now to give you a review.) My wife and I were about to put in a swimming pool at the time and our electricity bill was already over $300 in the summer. We ended up choosing United Sun because we felt they had the best value. They were one of the lower bids, they used all premium panels and system components and they had a fantastic warranty (much better than all of the other companies). Also John, our salesperson, did the best job at explaining everything. I know they were still trying to sell us a system, but they just did it in a way that was low pressure, straightforward and informative. After we signed our contract though, was what really impressed us. They kept us informed along the way. Matt and the other installers were super friendly, very professional and very polite. They cleaned up so well after they were finished that other than the great looking solar panels on our roof, you wouldn't have even been able to tell they were there! Our system has worked perfectly since they installed it. When we had questions, they were very quick to get back to us. More importantly, they were spot-on when they estimated what our usage would be after we installed the pool. Last year our true-up bill with PG&E was less than $40 and I think that is only because my wife likes to use the AC more now that we have solar. I would absolutely use you guys again! Bottom line is this; Expect to have an extremely professional analysis of your solar needs situation. United Sun Energy was so well explained and professional that I thought they were making a proposal for a multi million dollar contract and not for my 3000 square foot house. The price was not only very reasonable but I was able to spread payments over 12 years. In one month my electric bill went from $700 to $10 I pay around $300 a month for the system. That math is correct. It did not cost me money to purchase system. I effectively get paid $400 a month to own the system. It is better then that. I received over $12,000 in my pocket from tax credits. That's $12,000 plus real dollars. So... I got paid $12,000 + $400 a month for my solar system. The installation was so fast and so professional that I barely noticed they were at my property for the few days it took to install. What should you do? 1) Go to mirror and forgive yourself for not doing this sooner. 2) After your mirror visit call United Sun Energy immediately! Please note that I am in Chico. Ok, these guys are seriously fantastic! I'm so happy we decided to go with United Sun Energy to install our solar. It's also nice to be able to recommend a company so highly! First off, Philip (one of the owners) absolutely knows his stuff. We were originally recommended to United Sun Energy by a friend who knew Philip. They told us he had been doing electrical work for over 30 years. It definitely shows in the work they did. They were very informative up front. They also were priced extremely competitively. Even with such a great price, we got a top quality system and the best warranty available. Their installers did a fantastic job as well. They did high quality work and our system looks great on our roof. They handled all of the PG&E paperwork for us too. Best part of all is that our system is producing the amount of electricity they said it would, even slightly higher in fact. And now we are saving over $300 every month! We have waited a long time to choose a solar company. Kevin took the time to explain the process of solar, leasing vs buying, production of power, etc. Pros and cons of both. He spent a significant amount of time with us in discussion. No pressure at all. Once the decision was made, the start to finish in two weeks!
