My second time visiting the bock and I needed to get a few items that I didn't bring on my trip. Before my visit, I researched some HEBs in Lubbock and found NOTHING! So what am I to do? I Yelp and Google search nearby supermarkets and United popped up. I'm thinking what in the world is United Supermarkets? Is that equivalent to Krogers, HEB, Foodarama, Food Town, or what? I'm not sure. Assuming they were cheap, my dad and I shopped here. Boy, were we surprised! This place is overly expensive for no reason. No specialty items like organic styled everything, just a basic grocery store. Everything was sky high with a .99 after it. Ridiculous! -Tiny small tubes of lotion, $4.99 -Cold cut meats, $3.99 -Disinfectant spray, $6.99 Why for what? Name brand things cost an arm and a leg. We ended up leaving without buying anything because they weren't affordable. read more

So I go in to get a tiny salad bar salad. I used to work in a Deli and I can fairly accurately judge how much something weighs by holding it in my hand. When I was paying, I noticed my salad came out to .81 pounds when the woman weighed it - almost $7. I said "No way is that is nearly a pound." She replied "It's .81." Uh, yeah - it's wrong. I asked her to weigh on another scale after she said "Oh yeah - this scale has been off all day." What the...?!?! Once re-weighed, it came out to .31 pounds. A $5 difference. Of course I had to go to customer service, who had to send me to a cashier to get everything fixed. 2 Stars because the baggers / cart-employees will offering assistance. The cashier was pretty judgemental. Assumed a ponytail = something worth insulting; I've worked in a larger chain (grocery) prior for 4.5 years, including working shorthanded. Drinks in cooler, near diner, were set for Coke / Pepsi promotion, but tag spacing would indicate ALL carbonated products were eligible (mix & match). I asked cashier IF I needed to 'Enter Rewards #' in order to attain 3x for $12.97 Response "you have to spend first, before you get any points" ...Okay... - does that fit the bill? Obviously was unwilling to clarify sale requirements and became impatient. I've had 800+ cases, cart-collecting, store closing + assisting with checkout, plus receiving & STORING pallets for all other departments with just a person under me (as a Night Manager), who was a night stocker. 2 Stars because of H20 prices & helpful cart / bagger(s) - made their presence known. Regarding the cashier - I did make & admit a mistake - the plastic bags are not very durable, a stark contrast from (my) normalcy; I openly admitted - "you were right man, sorry" (with smile) Response "I tried to tell you, but you said -- mocking an effeminate voice 'I dooonn't neeed one' {Exxagerate soft-spoken tone} I speak 3 languages & will am working on a 4th, but I make sure I am heard as I speak. I actually shop here quite frequently. It is usually soso. Well today I figured something out. So today at United on 50th and Q. They have hamburger patties buy one get one free. Well the price of a 5lb chub of ground beef. Is 11.99 here. So I asked why the buy one get one free was so expincive compared to the chubs. I asked why they hike the prices for these events. A meat manager commence to tell me because that is their everyday low price and you get one for free! He says , you can also see this through the plastic, where with the chub you don't know what your getting. Um yeah a United manager said that. So for the b1g1f less than 5lbs of hamburger is almost $24.00! Okay I'll bite only cause I do need all I can get right now, and I still wasn't sure if I was or was not getting a better deal. Well tonight we pull one open to make burgers. WELL WHAT DO YA KNOW!!! one of the patties is shaped JUST LIKE THE END OF A CHUB!!!! humm so this goes to show you just how unreliable and ridiculous the food prices are here!!!!!!! Lubbock Tx!!!!!! 24 dollers for 10lb of meat. OR get ripped off THINKING it's better because you CAN SEE IT! With $24+ dollers for 5lbs of the same thing!!!!! read more

RE: 50th & Avenue Q location I was there this morning to purchase pastries. My total was $2.14. I handed the cashier $3 and she proceeds to ask me if I want my .86 back. Ummmm yeh, when did they start asking that question. I have never, in all my years of shopping at United been asked that before. I like most Uniteds, but this one is always a mess and way too busy. The customers always seem very rude. The checkers always have something more important than me to do....it seems. Compared to the other Uniteds in town this one is a huge disappointment. read more

It's ok but they don't carry everything that the larger and busier stores carry. It's not a location I will go to very often.

Crazy place. Very old school. They take your groceries out of the cart for you and want to load them in your car for you. Neato!

The whole store smells absolutely terrible. Walking by the back door I could barely breathe.

Great pharmacy! Super friandly staff. Rarely have to wait long for prescriptions.
