If your looking for some delicious food with a side of great service then definitely stop on by!…read more We arrived a little past the lunch time rush so there was only a few other people there. The cashier quickly greeted us and told us a quick rundown about what they had, and where to order. There was so much food to pick from and it was hard to pick just one meal. I ended up ordering half a chicken with mashed potatoes and a potato salad. My husband ended up ordering three crunchy brisket tacos. We sat down and people kept trickling in. Our food didn't take too long and a different employee dropped it off. She was also very friendly and attentive. My chicken was delicious and HUGE. I couldn't finish it, so I had to take it on home. The sides are small, but they also accompanied my dish with a bread roll, some barbecue sauce, and a jalapeño with onions. My husband loved his brisket tacos and loved them even more after he poured some bbq sauce on top. They are also a market so they sell a lot of goods, fresh meat, and dairy. The inside is small but it all flows great. The fresh meat all looked of great quality and prices are reasonable! Can't wait to be back to try something else!

It's an okay Walmart Supercenter…read more Some days it's good. Never great, but good. Other days it's just terrible. There are transients scattered everywhere. The parking lot confuses out-of-towners. Folks put puppies in the back of trucks here. So sad. In the evenings the migratory birds swarm all of the trees and they are so loud. It's crazy. Let's move into the actual store finally... The place has been an absolute mess and then some. Dirty. Unorganized. Open packages. The carts suck. The shelves are empty or damn near it. The attitudes from the employees equal those of the other patrons. Why is it like this? The only reason I give it 3 stars is because of the low prices. Ample parking during the mid-mornings. And at self-check I can still purchase whiskey, tequila, and beer with the assistance of an employee. It doesn't take more than a minute usually. I have found that it's faster and more efficient to do self-checkout as much as I detest it. That sums up this love-hate relationship.

Employees don't speak English (or at least that's what they said) and no parking spots. I will not be back. The manager should be fired. I'd rather pay higher prices at Albertsons.

Stopped by to buy groceries today (10.24.2024)…read more Employees were friendly. Helps if you speak Spanish, but they always have English speakers to assist too. I'm perturbed for several reasons: 1) they rang up a bag of apples to be $4.79 when it was supposed to be $1.99. After quite a wait, that was price checked and changed for me. Cool. 2) got home & noticed the cilantro & the 3 limes ($1) I bought & paid for didn't make it into our bags. I need it for dinner tonight. The staff bagged our groceries for us. So frustrating because it was $1.99 for a relatively small bundle, but I wanted to support La Tienda. 3) flies everywhere! 4) dusty goods! The can of beans I bought was covered in dust as was the others. Could these last two reasons be because the two front doors were propped open? Will be a while before I come back even though I'm in this vicinity at least once per week. My 11-year-old daughter loved this store and how organized it was. She ain't paying the bills, though. Lol.

This Thriftway Foods in Denver City, TX, has not improved since the last time I shopped here…read more Last time I remember how nice the employees were, but when my daughter and I came in on June 20, 2026 the former friendly service was remiss. On what aisle is the peanut butter? There were no employees around to ask... the one who was did not encompass approachability, marching quickly by us with no eye contact. The aisle marked "peanut butter" turned out to be just refrigerated butter. After spending over $115 on 23 items, you would think the cashier and bagger would be just a little bit nicer. On top of that, after getting home 30 miles away, I realized that the cashier double charged me for the Nathan pretzel dogs. Wow. Those were $10.85 per box of 4. At least there was good parking and plenty of carts.

The last time I was in there, the majority of the produce was so wrinkled, dried up, and rotten, it should have been tossed into the dumpster a week ago, and the meat/poultry department was just as bad. I'd rather not risk food poisoning, by paying good money for meat that is no longer fresh and red, or poultry that smells bad. It's only 1/2 hour to Hobbs, and the Dollar General stores in DC have a pretty decent stock of groceries now. I no longer see any reason to even try shopping at this disgusting cockroach bodega. When Dale Carter ran Thriftway, it was always clean and the meat and produce was as fresh as any store within 100 miles. Since Dale handed it over to his daughter's husband, it's no longer fit to shop in, the tiny, pathetic Lowe's in Plains has better produce!
