They actually help you when you can't find something. The prices. They're reasonable and you don't need a rewards card to save here. The meat and produce selections. They're fresh and of quality. The store itself. It's clean, well-organized, and has good signage inside. The only thing I ever disliked about Thriftway is the location--not necessarily within the city, but the way it is tucked off in a corner behind Bealls and Walgreens. Each December, an annual canned food drive (Stuff-a-Truck) happens in front of this store. So they definitely support their community and less fortunate citizens. I may be the only one who remembers this, but Thriftway used to be on Dal Paso St. That Thriftway burned to the ground back in '07. I never learned what the cause was or how it happened, but... If I'm not mistaken, this is Hobbs' first chocolatier. They had so many delightful chocolate covered items - from nuts to jalapenos. My daughters were dying to try ice cream and stuck to their flavors. The youngest had two scoops in a cup of Krazy Kolors. Bold colors of red, blue, and yellow, but it tasted like plain vanilla to me. Lol. The oldest had two scoops of Cookie Two Step, which was chocolate chip cookie dough. Very cream. Large chunks of chocolate. The decent-sized cold mounds were served in small plastic ball caps both for $12.14. Dulceria Cosmos is a brand new Mexican candy store in Hobbs, New Mexico…read more Their grand opening was February 1, 2024. Their daily hours are from 10:30AM-8PM. When my daughter and I walked in on the afternoon of 2/10/2024, we were not welcomed. None of the 3 employees smiled at us. No music was playing. We were never asked if we needed help. Then two groups walked in after us and were quickly greeted and music was turned on. It really ticked me off. Then my daughter started picking out candy and showing me. One employee followed us and watched us like a hawk. It was very uncomfortable. I told my daughter to put the candy back because I didn't feel welcome there & we walked out. The candies were mostly of the Mexican variety and in bulk packaging. Most likely unbeknownst to them, I grew up eating much of the items they sold, but I have no problem walking out when I am not welcome. There weren't many supplies except some party favors, piñatas, and balloons. This is a brand new store so it was very clean with ample parking in a plaza lot. It's located within a plaza on the northwest side of town in Lovington, New Mexico. Plenty of free parking. If I didn't live 20 miles away, I would probably be here every day because I like to shop for produce fresh. I was only able to shop for non-perishable items, but the meat market seemed really good. The store was so clean and organized when I was there on November 22, 2024. For the most part, I was able to find all of the ingredients I needed for my part and Thanksgiving dinner plus a few other items. Really nice, fast cashier. The grocery baggers are fast too.
