As a combat wounded veteran, the UWVC has really supported me and many others wounded from the battlefield. The support was so strong that I was personally inspired to reach out to the executive director and president of the organization to seek membership and actively pursued participation anyway I could. I was honored to be brought aboard as a advisor council member. I have been active with the UWVC since 2017 and have since been involved in numerous veteran support efforts such as their health and wellness program, linking up with other members of the organization to bring together veterans from various branches of service (and times in service) to participate in social gatherings such as the NYC Veteran's Day Parade and the many fitness events where we had hundreds if not thousands of veteran participants. Being a part of the UWVC has elevated me by granting myself and many others similar to myself me a sense of purpose outside of the Marine Corps. I was a Force Reconnaissance Team Leader with multiple combat deployments overseas and having the camaraderie of the UWVC not only has been incredibly empowering but has also given me a platform to continue to give back and support my brothers and sisters who may be and often are having real issues after service. The UWVC has not only supported and benefited myself, but my brother Alex as well. Alex, too, experienced some severe issues when transferring and transitioning from active duty statues in the Marine Corps. By pure fate, Alex would find the UWVC and was able to come take part in events as well as their health and wellness program while he was in treatment. As a Social Worker, I run sessions for veterans within the context of equine assisted psychotherapy. UWVC's Health and Wellness Program has been coming for sessions at the farm since 2016. The dedication of the UWVC has allowed veterans to experience the healing power of both horses and nature. At the farm, they have learned not only horsemanship skills and healing, but also how to find new ways of exploring life outside of the military. My goal each week is for the veterans to develop a relationship with the horses and incorporate the lessons learned during the sessions with the horses into their daily lives. UWVC has created a community within our county as well. Before coming to the farm, the veterans are presented with a complimentary lunch at Texas Roadhouse or for a meal at our local pizza shop. After their time with me and the horses at the farm, they often finish their day with a beautiful walk in the woods or at the beach in our county parks. This holistic approach: a sense of community, equine therapy, outdoors, and exercise is essential for healthy mental health. This is a great example of self care, establishing a healthy routine, and the importance of animals and nature. This is made possible by UWVC and I have personally seen the veterans benefit from this program tremendously. I am a retired U.S. Army Special Forces veteran with a total of 24-years' service. I currently work for GORUCK Events a veteran owed company has the Director of Events. I am responsible for the management of over 50 plus Special Forces operators both retired and active who contract with GORUCK to conduct high-risk endurance events and tactical firearms training. Our events are conducted all over the United States, Europe and Asia. I have been working with the United War Veteran Council (UWVC), since 2016. My experience with UWVC and their staff has been nothing less the outstanding. In that time, I had the privilege of collaborating with the UWVC on various veteran fundraisers and events to include NYC Vietnam and Veterans Day parades. The UWVC and the staff are extreme professional their ability to flex due last-minute changes, "work outside the box", are extremely unique in this day of age. I am a Marine Veteran and I have served as a volunteer to the United War Veterans Council since 2017. First as an event volunteer, then as a Board Member and now as Chairman of the Board of Directors who are also unpaid volunteers. Our organization honors and serves America's Veterans through our calendar of events including the NYC Veterans Day Parade which is the largest parade that honors veterans in our country and our weekly health and wellness program which focuses on assisting at-risk veterans through holistic, therapeutic and social fitness Activities. I am a Marine Veteran with 28+ years of honorable service. I have had the honor and privilege of serving alongside fellow Veterans and Veteran Supporters as a volunteer for the last 6 years at the NYC Veterans Day Parade, which is produced by the United War Veterans Council. Additionally, the UWVC has afforded me and my Veteran community numerous opportunities to volunteer and participate in activities such as the Vietnam Veterans Day march, Honor rucks and their health and wellness programs. I have witnessed first-hand how these programs create positive spaces for camaraderie and platforms to share our stories. Our family business, Pen Company of America (PCA), has been a proud United War Veterans Council (UWVC) partner since 2018. I am the head instructor at Ani Art Academy America, a non-profit organization located in Red Bank NJ that delivers a fully comprehensive, tuition free-art program to veterans. For the past few years the UWVC's Health and Wellness Program has been coming to our school every week for art therapy sessions. I am a Gold Star Mother. Over the years I seen how the UWV Council has helped our Veterans with the various programs that they run and it is truly amazing. Last year, I was able to take some videos of several Korean War Veterans. These were used a part of the Virtual Veterans Day parade.
