This is one of my favorite local restaurants. My husband and I always order the same thing: chicken tikka masala and chicken vindaloo with garlic naan. My chicken tikka is always good, but the last two times we have been, my husband's vindaloo was a bit runny (thus the 4 stars). We keep coming back because 8 out of 10 times, the food is excellent and the service is always good. I'm glad we have this tasty Indian restaurant in the RGV! read more

This is one of our favorite local restaurants. We are never disappointed. My daughter is vegan and they have a delicious array of vegan options. The garlic naan is amazing. Order the mango lassi and you will be in heaven. We usually just grab the buffet and it is always delicious and fresh. They also have a order off the menu selection. The staff is very attentive. There are little to none Indian Restaurants in the valley...but I'm so glad there's The Universal Market in McAllen. The food is amazing and the people are so welcoming! My husband and I live in Harlingen and we try to go every week, and believe me...it's worth the drive. I LOVE the Chicken Tikka Masala...I get it every time. You need to try the nan, it's absolutely delicious. Relax and feel serene with a cup of masala tea, it's out of this world. And before you leave, don't forget to order a mango lassi, it's sweet and oh so good :) read more

I went there twice and I order the lamp biryani and it was the saltiest dish I have ever eaten and the lamp was meat was the weirdest taste I ever put in my mouth and it made me cringe everytime I try to give it a chance. and I got some chips with brown sauce that taste like bbq and green stuff that looks like green slime and it was awful, and peas mosala was dry and did't have too much favor, the na garlic bread was the only good thing we ate at this grocery market, I also told the sever " what is the most delicious dish you guys have" or " what do you think is the best dish?" and I did't order of what he said Idk why and I order a yellow soup with peanuts with cook chicken meat, the soup was too sweet. I also try these indian chips that taste like old Cheetos and some spice and it made me fart.....then I check the expiration date and it was expired from 2015 and I ate them at 2016. after we went there the second time we ate mcdonalds after that and it was a sad angry day for me, and I am never going back there again. read more
