Some real pros of East Ocean: the menu has plenty of options for all kinds of culinary preferences and diets. Vegetarian, gluten free, rejoice! There is something for everyone. We went in particular to try the pho and that was a fantastic choice! The flavors were right on the mark, and the option to purchase a small portion was much appreciated (you know how gigantic those bowls of pho can get). The soups come with the typical accoutrements and were equally flavorful and filling. The service is nothing to write home about, just enough to be fine but not noteworthy. We ordered an appetizer of Vietnamese egg rolls which never came, but they ended up removing them from the bill so no harm done just wish we could have tried them. The vibe inside is typical of the surrounding area, a restaurant in a chain of boxes who have decorated their inside to match their own style. There was somewhat of a calming aura about this one. Terrible customer service. Waiter didn't bring water until after food arrived. Brought bill and charged me for an ice tea that I didn't have plus added on some tax that he couldn't explain. I told him I only had water yet he went and charged me $2.68 for tea anyway. I sent the bill back and the restaurant refused to take the charge off my bill. Something shady going on here. Took my grandma here for lunch and the customer service form our server and the owner were amazing. The pho was rich and smooth, the spring rolls were okay but the combination Lo Mein itself was 10/10. I'd come back for customer service alone but it doesn't hurt that the food is also great. This restaurant closes slightly earlier than others. At 8:30pm. I got there at 8:15, and was still able to dine in. First, the decor was bright and colorful, very vibrant feel. There were TVs playing different Japanese animes. I was quickly greeted by one of the waiters and sat down. Food was ordered, and it was served in a timely manner. However, the waitress failed to provide chopsticks and napkins... Their signature pho was good, not great. The broth was hot as how it should be. The meat were fresh with the right portion. The price is slightly higher than other pho restaurants. Overall, it is ok. I wouldn't mind coming again but not on top of my list. It gets a 3.4 out of 5. read more

Delicious food, amazing atmosphere, and wonderful service. I was in town to visit my husband's family - we were looking for somewhere tasty for lunch and I'm so glad we came here! I had the summer rolls and chicken pho and both were fantastic. Definitely on par with the Vietnamese food I've had out in California. All the ingredients are so fresh and the attention to detail is spot on. Shoutout to Savannah and David for the friendly service! They were so kind and welcoming. A friend and I went to lunch at East Ocean today, looking forward to trying something new. Both of us have eaten Vietnamese food for many years, having lived in Des Moines where many refugees from Vietnam settled. That said, we were disappointed in the bland food we were served today. I ordered the spicy beef bowl. Unfortunately the beef was not spicy. It was bland beef in a spicy broth. It was a beautiful presentation, just disappointed in the lack of spice in the actual beef. My friend ordered a shrimp stir fry. What she was served was not remotely like any stir fry we have been served any place else. The shrimp were cooked but by themselves in a pile on the plate. There was a mound of plain rice and a few slices of tomatoes on one side and some cucumber on the other. The shrimp were bland also. The highlight of the meal were the deep fried pot stickers we shared. So it is a nice, clean place, but overpriced and not exciting cuisine. read more

This is the he BEST Vietnamese food we have had since moving here. From the appetizers to entrees everything was absolutely amazing. The Pho was so flavorful and you could tell it had been cooked for hours. The noodle bowl with grilled pork, was fantastic. The East Ocean fried rice was out of this world. Our waitress Zoe was very knowledgeable of the menu and super helpful. You could tell everything was 100% homemade and fresh. Even though it is an hour from where we live, we will definitely be regulars from now on. Everything was so good we even ordered food to go so we could eat it tomorrow too.
