I flew to Michigan to visit my boyfriend's family and he took me here to get my nails done. I fell in love with this place! They really know how to pay attention to detail and pamper you like no other. They offer a sea salt scrub that really leaves your skin silky smooth. I came in for a manicure and was so impressed that I ended up getting an additional pedicure and eyebrow wax. If you're ever in the area, I definitely recommend this nail salon!

Came for shellac, the ladies seemed nice enough. She filed my knuckles a few times, ouch. I had never seen shellac be applied so thickly before, but I have never had OPI shellac before either and thought maybe it was formulated differently? The cure light kept flickering on and off so I don't think they cured properly. She kept missing large sections of the side of my nail with the primer and polish. 2 days later 3 nails were peeling off near the cuticle. It was catching on my hair when washing. One nail peeled halfway off. Clearly they did not cure correctly or it was applied too thickly. All nails were lifting and looked dull and scuffed. Called the salon after a few more days of frustration and asked if this is typical of their shellac? Never had that happen before. They said not really and to come back in. Came back that day and the same lady fixed them. She was nice enough, however she filed one of my nails that did not need to be and it was super crooked after. Not sure if that was intentional or not. Again, she caught my knuckles with the file. Ouch. Nails came out very lumpy, and again they are rubbery and peeling after 2 days. Very dull and scuffed again also. I am not hard on my hands, no reason for this. Will not be returning. Wish I took pictures before they were fixed the first time, but I'll post how they look now after 2 days

7 day shellac manicure. Please note my ragged cuticles, they never touched them.

I've been coming here for years, but the quality of their manicures and pedicures are so inconsistent. You never know what you're going to get. Last time I got a shellac manicure that chipped within 7 days, which is not normal. The color i chose wasn't the same as what i got. And when I got home, I had smudged toenail. I made it back today and explained all of this, they still charged me $29 to fix it. Never again.

Almond shape gel nails with shellac done by Teresa

I was seated shortly after arrival, I will be honest and say I don't like their nail polish deflections, next time I want polish I will bring my own. I chose Shellac. My tech was Teresa. She was very detailed and did not rush. Her work is quality. Finally someone who knows their nail shapes!! I asked for ALMOND and got almond, not round like every other shop does! The prices are reasonable. I was satisfied and will return.

    Sweet sixteen party!

Everyone is so nice! They did a beautiful job on my nails, brows and lip and lashes. The cost is low for a lot of services, check it out!

I received a fill-in and was hurt several times. I also noticed certain customers were treated better than others. I will not be returning.

Always looking for my go to eyebrow spot. And I think I found it!…read more Booking online was super easy and simple. I have always wanted to know what was inside that building/house especially with that gorgeous curved front door. Passed it so many times on University. Parking was easy and nice to have designated parking spots for Bare Philosophy. Walked in and had no idea that you had to take your shoes off. I get for cleanliness sake and winter bringing water/salt, but I wasn't expecting it. I walked in and noticed another patron standing inside with her socks on so I followed suit. I didn't notice behind me that they provide slides to wear after you take off your shoes. There was no staff downstairs so no one to greet me or give instructions. There was a sign that said they were short staffed and to help yourself. It was the day before Christmas Eve. Really pretty inside and welcoming. Lots of areas to look at product. There was a coffee machine. Old historical charm throughout! The other client got brought back and I just was standing around. I finally heard someone in the foyer area and was checked in at that point and brought back to a large room for my eyebrow appointment. We spoke a bit about eyebrow shape and how she likes to keep things natural/follow your natural shape. Can always take off more later if I wanted. I think my eye wax was all of five minutes. Trimming, a few strips of waxing, and then tweezing and that's it. Let me have a look in the mirror and I was happy for the most part. I should've asked to trim my eyebrows a little more. But overall content with the shape. I wish there was something to put on my skin afterwards to calm it down since I get red easily. Again, the whole process was super quick, didn't feel overly personalized with an eye brow shaping/waxing but the job got done. The staff who did my brows was very nice and we made conversation throughout my service. I felt comfortable and no pain with the waxing/tweezing. Afterwards, she checked me out and you can give a tip on a card. $20 is a fair price for an eyebrow wax, what I was paying for at another place in the area.

Katie is a miracle worker! I've been getting Brazilians since I was 18 and facial waxes since 13,…read moreand let me tell you, Katie changed everything I thought I knew about waxing. Those red splotches after waxes that I thought were just part of getting waxed? Nonexistent with Katie. I am genuinely convinced she is magic because I never knew a wax could be this painless before AND after! Also as a gal who has always struggled with intense ingrown hairs, ones that doctors told me could only be fixed with laser, I was stunned when Katie took the time to get all of them out and coached me on how to prevent them in the future, truly above and beyond! She's is the most thorough esthetician I've ever been to, and she creates such a warm and welcoming environment that I am actually looking forward to my next wax!
