You have to jump through hoops for their convenience rather than them trying to satisfy the needs of the customer. I sent a request through Yelp to multiple landscapers to get pricing and availability for 3 things that I need for my front yard. Pablo from Alvarez replied and said he could do all 3. I gave a description of what needed doing, dimensions of my property and lawn and sent 7 pictures. His reply was to ask for my number and address to make an appointment. This is a red flag for me. I just want a price and availability. I don't want an appointment! Even if the appt itself takes 10 mins, the hours of waiting (they're never on time) is the issue. I replied: "Hi, thanks very much for getting back to me. Before we get involved with making appointments, please give me a rough idea of pricing. For example, I'm currently paying $80 a month for weekly maintenance. If you said your minimum would be $100 a month, no point in either of us investing the time. I will send pictures. My backyard is 100% paved. So, lawn is just in the front. Approximately 350 Sq ft" He insisted that he not only had to see it, but that I had to be involved. Ok, fine. Easier to just say ok and move on than to go back and forth. We started talking on Wednesday. On Thurs, we planned for him to com on Fri. He asked for my number. I HATE that!!! Just come and look! I don't need to talk to you more than we already have! But ok, I gave it. And then I waited. And waited and waited. Finally, around 4:30pm, I messaged on Yelp. I sent 2 question marks - meaning "what's up?". He replied almost immediately saying that they called me and got no answer. B*llsh*t! My phone never rang all day! There is no missed call in the log! I told him I had no missed call (I certainly didn't have voicemail from him!) and that what's the difference if you reached me by phone? Just come as we discussed. I've been waiting all day. No response. I asked "are you coming?" No response. I waited a while and asked "so you are not coming?" No response. So, this jerk stands me up and then HE has an attitude? I guess it is good that I didn't work with him. But he cost me a day of my time! And 2 days of correspondence! And ironically, the #1 thing I didn't want to do was (allegedly) the nail in the coffin. He indicates that he didn't come because he couldn't reach me by phone. So, if I had stood my ground and not given my number, he wouldn't have had an excuse. Good lesson for me. Such a creep! The way he must come over and he must have my number and he must meet with me. Like when you have a bad date and they won't leave you alone after. So unprofessional!
