As mentioned in other reviews, this is a typical university bookstore with typically obscene overpricing. That said, they do carry an impressively wide range of items for resident students, from toiletries to kitchenware to decor, along with the expected textbooks, and usual clothing and merch. The store is huge, logically organized, and spacious. The bulk of the products on offer seem to be branded clothing - shirts, pants, socks, hats, mittens, you name it, you'll likely find it. These items are quite pricey - $32 for a t-shirt is far too rich for me, especially since we're talking about average quality cotton with a Buffalo Bulls logo on it. I did, however find some leggings that looked like a good bang for the buck, thick spandex/lycra, look to be well cut, and with pockets, for $16.99, so I snagged a pair for myself and a pair for my daughter. There are toys and children's items, tools and supplies for school, and a fair bit of candy and some low level convenience food (think ramen). The textbooks themselves are available in a range of brand new to well used, so it's nice to be able to find used ones at lower prices. My daughter could not resist a unique plushie, which is a white plague nurse. She looks like an owl and her little lantern actually glows in the dark. Not a steal for $29 but not the worst deal in the store. There's plenty of parking, but no washrooms. There is a sort of plaza beside the bookstore which does have washrooms, and plenty of food retailers, kind of like a food court, but nicer, because the stores are actual shops, and the central area with the tables is a little cozier than your usual mall food court. The staff in the store are friendly enough. I regretted, however, giving out my e-mail address. I didn't need it for the receipt, because I paid in cash, and then I found myself getting way too much spam by the time I arrived home in Canada after a couple of days. I tried to use the Unsubscribe link at the bottom of one of them, but it didn't work. Please just ask me how I'm going to pay before collecting data you don't need (but probably want to use.) I can't say I'd feel the need to go back next time we visit stateside, but it was worth popping in. read more

This is not in Erie... it's in Buffalo. Fun times. Yes it has a lot of stuff and yes it's pretty handy to have it right here in the Commons but on the other hand you have to be honest and say that it's incredibly overpriced like most college book stores and they make sure that the courses on offer here need very specific books and that this bookstore has those specific books while almost nobody else does, and that the prices are marked up beyond belief. And I can't get with that. Can you get with that? I certainly can't get with that. read more

Here recently for some back-to-school items that were needed by an incoming freshman. The bookstore is well organized very large. They carry everything from textbooks to pens to T-shirts to shampoo and anything else you can think of. At the beginning of the school year lines can be very long but most of the time it's an easy in and out quick stop. Very large parking lot that has spaces where you don't need the school sticker to park for a short time. Just near the Student Union on campus. read more

First strike: you need to remove your backpack or purse when entering and leave it by the door. A place that doesn't trust their customers automatically loses its credibility with me. I've been here quite a lot while I was a student at UB and really pay up the wazoo for textbooks here. Oftentimes, you'll find much better deals at other local stores or, of course, online. There's also a post office in here which is pretty cool. I've bought some stamps here and mailed a few things, but it leaves a lot to be desired. Some UB apparel: everything from organizers to hoodies to little souvenirs. If you want to show off some UB pride, the bookstore is a fine place to go. It is nice that it's the only free place to park on campus (although with a 1-hour time limit) before 3pm. read more

I went to the campus bookstore and was pretty impressed with the service. Three different employees asked me if I needed help. They had exactly what I needed - a composition notebook with blank pages - and I wasn't even sure such a thing existed. The prices are high, but that is to be expected. There is a nice variety of UB gear, gifts, school supplies, etc. Most stores have cleared out their school supplies by September 1, so this was a good place to get such a specific item in April. Again, the employees are very nice. That can't be overstated. I had a much better experience than I expected because privately owned campus bookstores tend to be kind of...well...not student focused. read more

The bookstore here at UB is plentiful. They have EVERYTHING. Any item you could possibly want with a UB logo, they have it, for a pretty steep price. This store will clean out your wallets. The school supplies are on average 50% more expensive than products found at Target, Walmart, Office Max etc. The only reason you should buy your supplies here is if you're desperate on campus at the last minute or again, you want it printed with the UB logo. There are dressing rooms, Vera Bradley collections, dorm room decor, snacks, tons of different items to choose from. I just wish the prices were cheaper. Even their clearance rack is pricey! If you're looking to represent the school your best bet would be to hit up the store in Student Union, much cheaper. read more

Okay my respect for the bookstore as a whole as increased because there now seem to be a lot of staff and the line goes surprisingly fast. BUT I have to keep it at 2 stars because of 2 things that really irk me (1) the current postal worker is so achingly slow it makes my teeth hurt. it takes forever to send anything here. They also limit the number of packages you can send each day (to 3). She also always questions whether my media mail is actually media in kind of a mean way. Do I look dishonest? But they do have a post office so that is something. The counter now has longer hours (until 4pm) but you can only send outgoing mail until 2pm. (2) they make you put your bags down at the front -- even when the bag is your purse -- even when your bag only contains important medical equipment -- even when your bag is just helping you carry one box directly to the postal counter which is in their site the entire time -- even when you are disabled and have trouble carrying things in your arms. I am pretty sure that several of these are against the ADA. I actually had to just turn around and leave one day because they wanted me to take my medical equipment from me. read more

Typical college bookstore. Almost everything is obscenely overpriced. One positive is that you can order your textbooks online and ship them to the store to save on shipping fees. Upon entering the store, I was greeted by several employees, and asked if I needed assistance. I just handed them my email confirmation, and I was given my books. Easy in and out in less than 15 minutes. You can probably find the books much cheaper online if you look hard enough. read more

Do not buy your textbooks here. I guarantee you will find the books you need, online, for at least the same price, but highly likely they will be much cheaper. Amazon, Ebay. I've gotten books from both for excellent prices. Won a $25 textbook on Ebay for $1. And, the people working at the bookstore are assholes. I had to haggle with them over a $55 mistake on book pricing. No apology, nothing, not even the manager who fixed the overpriced book said a word admitting the mistake. In fact they acted downright hostile towards me. I wonder how many students they overcharged for the book. Before I came along and pointed out the mistake. Their policy on leaving bags at the door is unacceptable. Why? Because they claim no responsibility for lost or stolen bags. If you are going to demand someone part with THEIR OWN property, then you had better assure them it will be secure. read more
