If you are looking for pirate gear, this should be your only stop. They have a huge selection from baby cloths to golf accessories. On my visit I was looking for a laptop bag that was big enough to also carry my drone case. This way it would be easier to fly with both and not to have to carry the laptop only since the Greenville airport only has the small planes. Well I did not find what I was looking for , but as usual I found some good gifts to bring back with me. And every man has to have a gazillion hats, so of course I picked one up. The place to go for any ECU gear!! They have anything you can think of ECU related! Dog gear, baby gear, magnets, stickers, kitchen/cookware you name it! The store is huge. We went on a game day so it was pretty packed but they had multiple registers open, so we didn't have to wait to check out. They have a wide variety of price ranges and quite a few sale racks. read more

Always a fun spot to visit while in Greenville. My daughter loves running in the middle of the store on their football field. My wife found a teacher shirt (graduate) she purchased. She wished they had more options. Also, they did not have one stuffed Pee Dee Pirate toy. A little disappointed in that. I'm assuming they wound have them when football season rolls around. All I can say about UBE is...WOW. And OMG. I recently began my MBA at East Carolina, and met my MBA project partner in Greenville for lunch and to discuss our upcoming collaboration. Of course I planned to pick up some purple and gold while in town. We tried the school bookstore which was unexpectedly closed due to a power outage. But he knew of UBE which is near campus in the downtown area. Just look for the purple! Even the TRASH DUMPSTERS are purple! Inside is more ECU gear than you could possibly ever have any use for. There is something for men, women, kids, pets and cars in here. Sweats, shorts, t-shirts, sweatshirts, car decals, bags, pajamas, rain gear, jerseys, golf gear, purses, jewelry, Greek wear, temporary tattoos, car flags, dog bowls... There's even a ladies section with shirts cut just for us. The place seems to go on forever and ever. The prices are reasonable, probably better than what I would have found at the school bookstore on campus. They have extended store hours during home Pirate football games. All those years studying at ECU, not only have I gotten my books from here, at one point I was also stacking shelves at this place. Just remembering how much the work is at the beginning and near the end of every semester, when students pouring in here to buy and sell their textbooks, was just pure madness. Then again, I have always been able to get my books for cheap; being both Comp. Sci. and Bio major, I go through textbooks like folks go through toilet papers. Every year there's new editions to the book, and every year the textbook on hand became worthless, even the bookstore on campus won't buy them back; but you can pawn them off here, at least for a few bucks to get you some gas money home for the holiday. UBE is a multi-layered, multi-compartment one-stop shop even beside the textbooks; you can get all the craps your professor want you to get for Intro to Arts that you would never use again; you can get your Purple and Gold colors here prior to game days. read more

I will never be back in this store again. I had not turned in my rental book because I had not received reminders to do so like all of my friends had. The book was 11 days late, and I received a charge of over $100 to my credit card. However, when I found my receipt, it said that the policy is $1 for every day the book is late. I asked Charles, who I assume is a manager of sorts there, why I had been charged the amount of the book if the $1/day was their policy. I also asked, "At what point is the full price of the book charged?" He responded with "It can be as early as one day after the book is late." This was completely astounding to me. He did not even give me a set amount of days, so he obviously does not have a great grasp of the policy or why it is the way that it is. Extremely unprofessional. He acted like I was lucky he was even refunding the money. Maybe if they had actually put the email down the way I said it, there would not be any late books (: Also, get more sorority items in other than AOII. Nothing is wrong with that sorority, but it's pretty pathetic that there is a sh* ton of AOII stuff and only a teeny bit of other sorority stuff. Went here to purchase my books after most books were already gone because it was the second week of classes. I needed some help finding a book for a class and Charles helped me not only look for it in the store, but when he couldn't find it he went on the computer to look to see if they were going to get more in. After finding out they weren't going to get any, he called Dowdy (even though they are competitors) took his time to wait on the phone for 5 minutes, then finally was able to find out that Dowdy had the book I needed. He then proceeded to ask if they had an abundant stock to make sure they weren't going to run out by the time I could make it to Dowdy. After fining out they had limited stock, he made sure to ask them if they could hold a book for me until I made my way over there. One of the best experiences at U.B.E! Thanks Charles! read more

As an ECU alumni, I can't get within a 100 mile radius of Greenville without a visit to the UBE. It's a staple to the local community and a frequent destination for any serious Pirate.
