They do great dry cleaning.... But they also have an amazing Tailor for alterations. She is only there a few days a week but has done a great job with all of my clothes that always seem to need tailoring. read more

They ruined a Blazer and a dress. The owner, Bobby, does not care at all!! The employees gave me his phone number and he will not take responsibility of his dry cleaners damage. His employees are embarrassed and also agree that he never takes responsibility nor try to make things right for the customers. He doesn't even face the clients an leaves the employees to deal with constant angry customers. I have been trying to get this resolved since February 2023. The whole point of cleaners is to CLEAN things, right? Okay, just checking........ Brief Summary: Dry cleaning can be one of the most inconvenient forms of cleaning that we come across in our day to day adventures. For this reason, we often turn to the professionals to take care of our dry cleaning for us. Unfortunately, for University Cleaners, they are from earning anything close to the title of "Professionals". Would I Recommend This Business? Nope! Service and Staff: If you're going to a dry cleaners, odds are, you're trying to get something dry cleaned. This was the case for me, at least, when I dropped off my suit which was in need of a standard cleaning. There was a tiny bit of makeup on the shoulder area of the jacket, but nothing that a solid 15 seconds worth of work can't take care of. When I dropped off my dry cleaning, the woman at the desk was as unprofessional as you can possibly get. She had two friends in there sitting in chairs that she continued having a conversation with during my entire time in the store. It was as if I didn't exist. She asked the least amount of questions that she possibly could, and barely paid any attention to the answers. Case and point, she didn't even spell my last name correctly, which is only THREE letters long. Two of which are the same! Then she didn't even bother to fix it out of nothing more than pure laziness. Still, I decided to give this business the benefit of the doubt that what they SEVERELY lacked in customer service skills, they would make up for in service quality. Sadly however, this was not the case. When I got my suit back, not only did it look JUST as dirty as when I dropped it off, it smelled TERRIBLE! I'm not expecting it to smell like cherry blossoms or anything, but I certainly didn't want it to smell like moth balls either. Even if you are a fan of the moth ball fragrance, you would have still been just as upset as I was when your suit came back just as dirty as when you dropped it off. I have no idea what they did to my suit during the several days that they had it, but they sure as heck did NOT clean it. Oh, and did I mention that upon my return, those two friends of the clerk were still there, again? And I was ignored, AGAIN? Needless to say, I was more than ready to get the heck out of there without a plan to ever return. Location and Store: The location is rather nice. It's in a Publix shopping center, and is in a good part of town. The interior of the store isn't pretty by any stretch of the imagination. Just think of some ratty old dry cleaners you'd see in a movie, and that's pretty much exactly what you have here. Final Thoughts: As always, I want to preface my final thought with this. I'm always willing to give a store a second chance, but they have to earn it. I left with a dirty moth ball smelling suit, less money, and extremely aggravated. If this ISN'T what you want, I would go literally anywhere else! And until they correct all of their issues, I will be going elsewhere as well. P.S. If I could give zero stars, I would. I have had numerous items that have come back with spots on them. I have to request that they be redone and there have been two times where they wanted to charge me for the second cleaning. They recently lost an expensive pair of slacks in my order. There were men's slacks in my order instead that did not belong to me. I have made many, many phone calls and left messages for management, I have gone back to the location to try to get some type of resolution for the lost garment, without any resolution. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CLOTHING TO THIS CLEANER. They are terrible and when they lose your clothes, they do absolutely nothing about it. read more

BEWARE. I READ the reviews. I thought it can't be that bad. Boy! Was I wrong. Brought a formal dress in to be cleaned for my daughter. They told us it would be back a couple days later. No problem. 2 weeks later... No dress. Then the dress appeared From the "factory". Guess what?? We went on a cruise last week and found that they damaged the built in bra. Their solution? Remove the one side they damaged and sew it back up. Oh and they didn't inform us their cover up. Any lawyers want to hmu for some work? DON'T USE THIS PLACE. Put them out of business. CON: Clothes are often late clothes are often shrunk the woman working here goes out of her way to be mean she barks at every customer, She demands that you and Unbutton every button before bringing the garments and if you don't well straight to detention for you. Consistently good dry cleaner. Have been using them since I moved to Lakewood Ranch in 2014. They do dry cleaning, launder my shirts, and alterations. Reasonably priced and very pleasant and clean operation. read more

I was there on Saturday at 3:30pm and they close at 3pm and the manager was already in her car she seen me walk to the door she was so nice to come and open the store for me so I can pick up the clothes I was so thankful she did that for me I needed them to go out of town Monday I totally recommend this cleaners. read more

I used to go to Lakewood Ranch Cleaners on the other side of the Market St. shopping area. But when LWR Cleaners was acquired by University Cleaners (or merged with?) I moved over th University Cleaners. BIG MISTAKE. Of the 4 items in my last order, there was a problem with 3. 1) They did not clean a women's knit top. It had the same deodorant stains on it when I picked it up as when I brought it in. But they didn't hesitate to charge me $5.02 to not clean it. And they hung it on a wire hanger, which is a sure recipe for disaster with knit tops. A quality operation would have actually cleaned the stains and then folded my knit top and draped it on the cross-bar of a pants hanger. 2) I asked for my freshly washed white pants to be PRESS ONLY, because I know from experience that putting white pants into dry cleaning fluid turns them yellow. At LWR Cleaners, it was a little over three dollars for PRESS ONLY, so when I noticed they had charged me $6.37, I questioned it. I was told they were dry cleaned, which made me double-angry. When I brought them in, I saw the gal working there that day (a nice, friendly woman from the previous store) create a PRESS ONLY ticket. I guess current management wanted to increase their profit margin, so they charged me for a full dry cleaning. 3) One of the men's shirts I had laundered was returned to me with the tip of the collar on one side creased upward. Grrr! Annoying! This was $2.60 per men's shirt, more $$$ than the previous management. If you want a quality dry cleaner, and nicer employees, go elsewhere. read more

Very upset with the poor quality and lack of expertise. Two expensive silk blouses were tagged with a safety pin through the silk material on back of both blouses leaving holes in them. I left them there with another blouse to be dry cleaned. One blouse came back with a red stain on the side rendering this $110 Madewell silk blouse garbage. They didn't even have the courtesy to point it out upon pick up. The third silk blouse I left was pressed but not cleaned, marks were still on the front (second time this happened.) Slacks I had tailored missed the split seam up a few inches. I don't drop things off a lot so when I do, more often then not, the workmanship at University has been subpar or just unacceptable. Not entrusting them with my clothes again. Don't recommend. read more

We have found this dry cleaners expensive and the people that work there seem to have a bad attitude. When we pointed out that they had overcharged us they acted as though it was no big deal, instead of apologizing for making a mistake. They don't itemize the charges unless you ask for a printed receipt. Other dry cleaners we have used have always itemized the costs on the tickets when you drop off your dry cleaning. We have spoken to friends of our in our community and they had the same experience. Over priced and bad attitude. read more

In an emergency, yesterday, where I needed a wedding bride's maid dress cleaned because our cat chose to use dress as a litter box, I raced to University at 7:30am to see if I could get the dress cleaned and back in the same day, as daughter (bride's maid) was leaving on plane for wedding ay 6:30am the next day, today. Clerk on duty called main facility and was told that the treatment for cat urine took special care and would not dry in time to make deadline. I got on the phone with LeeAnne (sp?) and volunteered to bring dress to her rather than wait for normal pick up. She said she would try. Off I went, LeeAnne held a machine until I got there at 7:40am....by 10:30 all that was needed was a little time to dry which I could do at home. By 3:00pm all was well....dress and daughter left this morning at the crack of dawn. Crisis avoided!!! LeeAnne went well beyond the call of duty to save the day...what an effort! read more
