They need to get with current practices. I deposited a cashier's check and they have a 9 day hold. 45 years back when everything was manual they cleared it faster. Once they built there "head quarters" they are worse than commercial banks. At least commercial banks don't pretend they care about you, the little guy. read more

The UCU needs to get with today's banking needs. As of 3/31 zelle app will no longer be available unless your banking institution offers this service. UCU does not offer zelle through its mobile app or online banking services. If you lose your debit card it take 7-12 business days to get a new card whereas other banks can issue you one right away at their branch. I had this account for over 25 years and it's time to move on. read more

UCU Coral Gables branch Rafik Deeb and Samina D'Trinidad provided excellent customer service. Rafik helped me with a complicated transaction and made it easy to understand. For 38 years this bank is still behind. Every other bank has gone to having chips to tap purchases and the ATM cards with this bank is still inserting. Also, you can't lock the cards to prevent fraud. Several times I've had to replace my card due to fraud UM hasn't changed or upgraded for the customers to feel comfortable. I'm going to wait for purchases to clear my account before I close this account. There are other banks who seem to care and protect their clients. read more

Called the person responsible for handling vehicle titles for a duplicate vehicle title that was urgently needed. Even though the vehicle was paid off 16 years ago, Ohio DMV says that their records show that the lien holder is the credit union! Called them yesterday for a duplicate copy and also the lien release. She said she would call back in 30 minutes but didn't. Called her back after 4 hours and was told that she'd left for the day. I need this title urgently so called several times today. No one would answer so I left a message and no one has yet responded. P.S. This is nuts. I've been calling them for nearly three days and no one picks up the phone! read more

First time visiting this office. The place is modern, spotless and very calm. It has a nice seating area with a coffee and magazine station. Specific area with computer service for 3 different affiliated Universities. Our visit was very short but pleasant. The staff was very friendly and profesional. What was surprising is that the deposit option for our account was only provided by the drive in ATM, due to the agreement this credit union has with USF. Saying that I have to share that the deposit we made room for ever to be posted as available. It was very inconvenient, but being a new account with that institution I guess that's how we learn. The parking area is enormous and was almost empty. Somehow makes me question if the resources invested in this place are a little bit too much for the demand in the area. read more

My dad has been with a card from this place for 20+ years, and nor him or me have heard this. The people calling take so long being on hold. They sound like they lost their memory 5 minutes ago. My dads card was basically broken. THEY LITERALLY CANCELLED THE ORDER OF THE NEW CARD!!!! And let's talk about the play area. They changed their E-Bill pay platform from one that worked great for 15 years to the most inefficient, complicated and incompetence riddled one. When you call to complain they get defensive and when I call for assistance they put me on hold for over 45 minutes and spent another 45 minutes fixing the problem. I don't think they are even sure of what they are doing. Last time I called I gave up after half hour wait. Today, website tells me I have to enter the correct address and frequency of payee even though I have entered those and they can be clearly seen. Will they fix my credit and pay my late payment because of their fumbling? Will they compensate me for the hours I have spent dealing with their disaster? They should be fined for bad business practices that harm the consumer. read more

The worst banking experience of my life; it is like walking into a bank in Central America. I don't know why they insist upon hiring tellers that barely speak English. And if you call in it's even worse, I feel like I'm giving English lessons every time I need to speak about something important; and when they realize that you are not Hispanic they get very defensive on the phone. Sorry but NO stars would really be my review but this forces you to at least choose (1) star. But that's (1) star too many, honestly. Very disappointed and I'm usually extremely compassionate to say the least. Yes, I've encountered a pleasant person here or there in person but by phone the person answering doesn't understand a lick of English and no sense of comprehension. I'm not originally from South Florida so this isn't welcoming nor professional at all. I have in the past banked with the usual big named commercial banks. This time, I thought banking with UCU would be a great benefit since they don't have high costs as other banks do but there's a price to banking with this credit union bank that I've come to learn the hard way. In this day in age with technology being advanced more than ever and people are using smart phones and apps more than ever before you'd think UCU would be competable with other banks but they are so far behind instead. For example the app Cash is one where someone can send you money directly to your account. If you use it with BOA, Chase, TD Banks, etc no problem the money shows in your account immediately. With UCU it doesn't show until possibly two days later (if that) and then they put it on hold. So if you have a pending payment that needs to clear and they don't release the funds then they charge you a $34 overdraft fee although you have the funds but just on hold. So while they sell themselves on not having to charge extra like other banks you still wind up with extra costs on benefits that other banks don't hassle you on at all. So, bottom line!!! Perhaps the bells and whistles of the other commercial banks cost but they avoid hiccups. The only thing I see that UCU could work for is maybe a vacation club account but otherwise best to go with a bank that has a little of the bells and whistles; at least you know you don't have to keep checking on your account to make sure things have cleared, balance up to date, charged overdraft fees more money that is on hold, etc. cause a lot of the banks today show immediate accuracies on these very same items with it ever affecting your account giving you one less worry. read more
