I have been going there for years. All of a sudden, they became out of network and I paid over $200 for less than 7 min visit. Their office manager was not professional. She was rather rude. I asked why they did not inform me of their status change at the time I presented my new ins card for the year. Her answer: You are responsible to check not us. I asked what was the point of asking for an updated ins before booking an appt. Her answer: It is our internal process. Again, we are not responsible to check your ins. You are. You decide if this is the kind of place you want to go. Not me. read more

I called the morning of to cancel my appointment because I had called Friday but they had closed early so I couldn't cancel my appointment. I get a bill a week later for $50 for "missed appointment". When I had called, the lady who had spoke to me did not mention that they would charge me at all. This is disappointing, would never go here again. read more

I went here because get bad eczema on my hands that crack open and bleed. I explained to the PA that I'm sensitive to white petroleum. She called/sent two prescriptions to the apothecary and a couple of days later they delivered them to me. To my amazement they both were petroleum based! I spent around $100 for stuff I can't use. She didn't even listen to me! I went back a week or 2 later and told her about the petroleum issue and she picked up one of them and said look it says cream! Really? Look and read the ingredients next time. Can't deal with people that don't listen. read more

On August 25, I had a consultation appointment scheduled with Linda McNamara, a medical aesthetician for University Dermatology.  When I arrived, the staff informed me that she had taken a private day and had agreed to follow up with all her own appointments. Not only had it taken me months to get Linda's schedule, but now she had failed to show up for our appointment without the consideration of a phone call, text or email.  The office staff was very apologetic and assured me that they would let her know and that she would be in contact.  It has now been almost 2 weeks since the scheduled appointment, and I have never heard from Linda, much less received an apology for standing me up and for wasting a large portion of my day.  It's ironic that there is a sign on the counter that patients will be charged for missed appointments, but I can't even get a return call from Linda with an apology. Although I love University Dermatology and my usual dermatology PA, Dana Dorenfeld, I must give a negative review to Linda McNamara, the practice's medical aesthetician. read more

We came in at the scheduled time that we got a reminder for. Actually ten minutes early. And they said that our appointment was 30 minutes earlier the. We were told on the phone and then the reminder said and refused to see us. Very rude front staff as well. The appointment would have taken five minutes as it did the last time. Also only went here bc our existing dermatologist said this is the only place nearby with the child friendly treatment. At our first appointment they had us wait over an hour. read more

After receiving a "pink" notification, we will be withdrawing ourselves from future care as your Dermatologist, speak with your County Medical Society or Insurance company for another Dermatologist....I'm confused. 1st why do I have a balance and NEVER received an invoice (stated 3 were sent in 2019) NOR did we receive a message from the said phone call, as recent as a week ago; June 12, 2020....my husband and I have insurance with both employers as well as a health savings account with more than enough to cover a $97.30 balance....I am absolutely appalled by the way in which this has concluded and will NEVER give your office a positive rating nor referral. I've visited University Dermatologist on two occasions. Both times, I left very dissatisfied. They made me wait a long time despite arriving early for each appointment. And the advice provided was subpar at best. I've gotten better advice at the Clinique counter at the mall! Take my advice, save your precious money, and go somewhere else. read more

I've been a patient here for 2 years. I've seen two of the PA's and Wendy the aesthetician on multiple occasions. In my 30s my skin started to really spazz out. Of course it was the very last hail Mary prescription combo that worked for me, but I have had nothing but positive experiences with both the physicians assistants and the nurses (who are extremely helpful with refills etc etc). Wendy is also great. During my worst times I saw her for both acne issues and for laser treatments. She took the time to listen to my concerns and I don't hesitate to recommend her to people. I'm very surprised to see the negative reviews. I'm a picky customer and have never been disappointed. Ok once, when I discovered they only work half days on Fridays. I stopped by to pick up samples b/c I had waited until the very last minute to refill my 'script. Only to find that they were closed. That was my fault, but a tip I'm going to mention for future clients. read more

I booked an appointment for a Skin Care service for June 1. I booked it in April! Then one week before I received an appointment notification for June 30th. I called and they said they didn't have my appointment for June 1, although I have a email confirmation. When I call the front desk, they do not give an explaination, just say oh Linda needed to call you. Terrible billing practices. Received first bill dated 09/28/2021. NO OPTION TO PAY ONLINE, very inconvenient. I work full time and called the office on my first availability on 10/11/21 and had issues with running my HSA payment. Advised I would call back to pay as soon as I sorted out with my HSA company/card issuer. Called back on 10/19/21 to make payment and was informed my account was already forwarded to a collection agency on 10/14/21. They sent my account to a COLLECTION agency in THREE DAYS. My son has been removed from care due to incorrect billing practices. Practice manager, Terri, refused removing my account from the collection agency even though I walked her through HOW TO LOOK up the date I called because HER team did not DOCUMENT THE CALL. She confirmed the date. I've worked in Healthcare for over 20 years as a Billing Director and would have NEVER treated a patient this way. read more

Love Dr.Vallat, but poor management. I was seen for some tests last year and unfortunately my insurance hadnt paid the full bill and I was contacted in July 2019, when I was contacted I was told that I had owed a balance and I need to pay it I had replied stating that I would call my insurance to ask for an appeal to pay for some of the tests that were not paid for in full. Fast forward to January my account has been sent to collections and the collections company has confirmed that they don't buy any debts and that debt was still owned by this practice. I came in the office to pay the debt and I was informed that my account was in collections and they were unable to take the payment but while I had the account specialist on the phone they had stated that no that is not correct they still own the balance. It's their company policy once youre submitted to collections you're no longer a patient and obviously that's not something I wanted. So Kim the office manager had taken down the information of the representative from the collections company they deal with and she hadFollowed up with them. I had contacted him a little later to see if there was any thing we could do the skip this formality. I want to pay my bill I want to see a patient I love the practice. Kim firmly had stated there's nothing that they can do even with all the miss information and all the lack of contact that I was given in order to pay this bill. I'm leaving a one star review because of the lack of understanding of the lack of leniency in very simple procedures and very simple company policies that could be overlooked. The fact that they owned the debt means that is still in their possession and I'm legally able to pay that bill in the house and not from the outside collection company read more

The first time I went - I get there and they tell me the Dr has called in sick. I know we all get sick so I can't be mad about that; however, they lied and told me someone called me. No one called me. No missed calls, no voicemails. Completely wasted my time. The second time I went - I get there and they tell me that *I* cancelled my appt., that when I received the automated reminder call, I cancelled the appt. I *NEVER* answered the phone, so how could I cancel the appt? Not to mention, I would not be standing there had I cancelled my own appt! They proceeded to want to argue with me and then offer me another appt! Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. I won't let you make a fool out of me for a third time. They were not willing to fit me in or work me in to that day's schedule. Yet another day wasted, another day of work missed, and another day ruined because of the lack of care and compassion for patients. I have been a patient at University Dermatology for several years. Recently, I brought my son for an appointment to find a treatment for molluscum contagiosum. We had struggled with this condition for over a year and a half, and I was told by the pediatrician that "it would eventually go away on its own." Dr. Vallat and his staff treated more than 200 spots on my son's body. Just a few weeks after his visit, my son's molluscum were gone! It was such a relief that this battle was over! I have been coming to this dermatologist office for over 10 years and the staff is great and the dermatology medical team is The best and Charlotte! My physician assistant is Rebecca and she is very knowledgeable, a great listener, and she truly wants to help all of her patients with all of their skin needs. A couple of years ago I had a severe eczema breakout and she was able to quickly diagnose it and get me on the right prescription regimen to bring my eczema under control. I could see results in less than a month. If you don't have a dermatologist currently or you are looking to change I would highly recommend giving University dermatologist a try. I had my first chemical peel with Wendy last Spring for melasma. She is an excellent listener, takes your concerns into consideration and made me feel like we were making a decision together (which is the way it should be). I was happy with the results and wanted something a little more aggressive for a peel so I went back last month. I have melasma, I know from research and discussing with Wendy that it's going to take several peels to achieve the results I want. My skin tone was better and I can tell the melasma will get better with a few more peels. She also recommended products that will help with reducing the melisma (this makes the peels more effective). I highly recommend Wendy for any of your cosmetic or other needs. read more

I was a faithful patient with this office for about 7 years. There was one incident a little over a year ago where I was told that if I owed anything that my insurance did not cover, they would bill me which is typical. Several months later I received a call from a collection agency stating I had an overdue bill from this office. Apparently they were sending my bills to my old address and I was not aware that I had an outstanding bill of $60. I paid the bill and did not think anything else of it. I called today to schedule an appointment due to my skin condition worsening. I have been calling for almost two weeks but do to the Corona Pandemic, their office hours have been shortened and I could not get anyone on the phone. I called today and was notified that they terminated me as a patient and that I was not allowed to establish myself as a patient again. It saddens me that patient care was refused over less than $100. This office has the ability to provide some relief to my irritable skin condition but they instead turned their back on a loyal patient over $60. They didn't provide me any non-prescription recommendations until I find another provider or even try to work something out where I could be seen by someone else. read more

The staff at this dermatologist office are amazing. I just moved to the area and I was nervous about finding a dermatologist that I liked. I made an appt with Dr. Val Pierre Vallat. He has the best personality. He removed a large mole on the side of my face. He was very precise and took his time. After all the healing was done, I was so glad I went to him. The side of my face healed better than I ever expected. It's hard to tell there was ever a mole. I would highly recommend Dr. Valley to anyone. read more

I have mixed feelings on this place. The first time I went in the dr spent a lot of time with me and explained things out. Today the second time, I asked to have a mole removed. What I got instead is a 30 min wait in the waiting room (ironic since they have a sign that says there is a fee for missed appts) and 30 seconds with the dr. No exaggeration. I have been a patient at University Dermatology for nearly two years, and have found Dr. Vallat to be attentive, a good listener, and provide an honest assessment. Having recently moved to the area, I learned that the procedure that my previous dermatologist had recommended (MOSE surgery) was completely unnecessary (and expensive), so Dr. Vallat suggested that we proceed with a much more civil and simple approach to remove the squamous cell cancer. I generally am able to obtain an appointment within a day or two, and have been called when there had been a cancellation. I am very impressed with the quality of care at University Dermatology and especially with Dr. Vallat and his PAs. I highly recommend the practice without any reservations. read more

If I could give less than one star I would. Doctors and nurses were great, billing is a nightmare. I called twice because I had not received a bill, confirmed my address both times, and both times was told I'd receive a bill. No option to pay over the phone or online. Instead of sending me my bill, they sent it to collections. I called AGAIN to try to resolve it and they were not helpful at all, and were even rude about it. I'll never go back and strongly recommend against this place. Unfortunately for the rest of the practice, billing is really messing it up. They gave me free samples for the prescriptions they wrote me, and they gave me 2 coupons to get my prescriptions filled for free. I spent almost two hundred dollars for Dr. Vallat to tell me he didn't know what I had, that he wasn't going to try to see what it was, and that if i wanted him to even try I had to make another appointment and then maybe he would. MAYBE. It was an awful experience. Please save your money and go somewhere else. Always check out reviews beforehand. If you need to go to this office, make an appointment with any doctor but Dr. Vallat. Trust me, if you want to actually be treated and respected go to anyone else but him. I went to this office years ago for an appointment with Dana L. Dorenfeld and she was very kind, she made sure to ask plenty of questions and that I was okay. Perhaps make an appointment with her if you must go to this office. I didn't make an appointment with her this time because she was booked for months and Dr. Vallat was open. I found this dermatologist online and decided to give it a try. The Staff wasn't very welcoming but I wouldn't be either if I had to wear scrubs all day. So I overlooked that and kept an open mind for the rest of my visit. My doctor was super nice and understanding and helped me pick a plan for my acne and sent me off to schedule my next appt. The women I scheduled with was helpful with my questions about my insurance and got me all set up and gave me the total for the procedures. The day of my appt went well and I paid in full and that was that. Unfortunately, two months later I recived a rather high bill in the mail, I called assuming it was a mistake but the women I spoke with very rudely told me it was my fault and I needed to be a grown up and take responsibility. Literally hung up on me while I was trying to get to the bottom of the issue. NEVER again will I waste my time with trash service. And I sincerely hope the doctors at tis facility get new help so they don't lose all of their clients. read more
