Let's start by saying, please don't waste your time on this place! There is so much to complain about that it would take all day. Key points: Outdated and dirty. The bathtub had a permanent dirt ring around it, and the dressers had missing handles. Because my husband was there for 18 days, he asked in advance for a room with a kitchen so he could cook. There were no pots or pans to be had, only a few plastic spoons. There was a phone, but it had no phone cord! When we asked about a cleaning schedule, a lady said, " You just got here, we don't clean after just a few days, and we don't have anyone to do it until next week." HUH? And we have a towel limit, also only 2. No one knew the code for the laundry room; it took 2 days to get the 1234 code!! The staff was all new, and if we had a complaint on Friday, you were going to have to wait until Monday for the manager. Terrible!! read more

Stayed here for my Dad's surgery. We got two large rooms for a great price. Reservations were a breeze even when they postponed the surgery the afternoon before we were scheduled. They accommodated us for the last minute change. The staff is attentive and responsive, as well as courteous and helpful. Several went beyond their job descriptions to assist and offer help to me and my elderly parents. The location is peaceful and relaxing, and there are several dining options to the East and West. They do need to get the swimming pool open again. It looked very nice but said closed. Yes, the furnishings are outdated and rooms are at various stages of updating. But, the bedding is comfortable, with cool AC, desks, working fridge/freezer, microwave, internet, etc. The rooms are clean, well maintained, and all amenities in our rooms worked. Cannot say the same for our stay at the Buckhead LaQuinta who had broken phones and internet. Not a large variety for breakfast but good quality brands of cereal, milk, pastries, yogurt, etc. The coffee is Starbucks and they keep it going hot until 10 pm! I stayed for two nights to apartment hunt around Decatur. It was a wonderful stay. The room was clean, the mattress and linens were clean, the staff were super nice, and the location was quiet. I showed up a bit late for breakfast (hours: 7-9) on the last day and the staff brought it back out and let me grab some breakfast. In addition, on my last day after checkout, I wanted to explore Emory a little bit and they let me keep my car parked for the day. I highly recommend this place if you are looking down-to-earth, well-priced place! read more

I stayed overnight to prepare for Colonoscopy the next day. The room was spacious and the linens were clean and not stained and in things were in neat order. It was in various stages of remodel and some places had paint that needed to be smoothed out and such. The toilet was a bit sluggish, but I think it was one of those low flow types and I was afraid it would give out on me, but it did not! The best thing about this place was the hotel manager, Montine. The room is from the 1970s. Avocado green paint is peeling in places, holes in the walls and bathroom door. Shower surround is stained. Room smells musty and although the sheets were clean, they were damp with humidity all night. Still serving Covid-style take out breakfast. Disappointing. read more

A nice clean hotel room, great option for an affordable location for a work meeting on campus. This isn't anything suuuuuper special or fancy but the staff were very nice and it is a close walk to campus for my meetings. Be sure to plan out your meeting travel, you may still need a car to get to where you are going on campus but it was a quick 15-20 minute walk to some fast food dinner and breakfast options too if you want to avoid a rental car in Atlanta traffic and just Uber to hotel from the airport and back. read more

Very nice place to stay if you need to be near Emory and a bit more affordable without compromising on cleanliness or quality. This place was clean, quiet, and had very comfortable beds which I usually have a hard time with even at Hilton hotels where beds are say too soft. I do recommend this place if you just need a basic no fancy frills hotel room. read more

It is very very convenient if you want to visit Emory. It's walking distance. I stayed in the guest house. They told me I wouldn't have a microwave or fridge, which was fine. But I didn't have a blow dryer either and the closet was so old and gross I did not want to hang my suit in there. The hangers were really old and gross too. The bed was stiff and uncomfortable...The TV looked like it was from the 70s. The only good thing about my room was the water pressure/temperature and free wifi. With all that said, I don't really care for amenities. I just want a CLEAN ROOM!!! And I feel that I did not get that... I could not wait to check out the next day!! read more

For those of you visiting Emory University or the CDC, this inn offers clean, spacious and comfortable rooms. The decor is fairly barren, but for a price nearly half that of more swanky diggs, it's to be expected. Staff is pleasant and accommodating. The surrounding community is nice with several good restaurants within a ten minute's drive. The free continental breakfast is sub par. During my stay, a small dog could be heard barking incessantly from the room next door. I can only guess he was upset by the Hawks losing by 30 at home in the playoffs... read more

The big advantage is close proximity to Emory. It's easy to walk to appointments and the hospital. There's nothing hugely wrong with the hotel, it's tired, worn, and shows its age. Furnishings are beat up, bathrooms small and outdated. Doors open to outside, lots of traffic noise read more

I tried to get a room downtown at the same place I was to stay the following night, but everything was booked up because Pink was in town. I found University Inn through a last minute booking app and was hugely skeptical, but snapped it up because it was reasonable and available. Took me 20 minutes from downtown and the route was beautiful. Discovered activities - Freedom Park and the Jimmy Carter Library - I wanted to explore the next day. The inn is nothing to look at from the outside - it is motel style with the doors on the outside. It is really quite plain and nondescript, but is in a fantastic area just a half mile from Emory University and great eats at Emory Village. My room was really quite perfect - large, clean and comfortable. I'm not kidding - I slept 12 hours!! There is some street noise, but I use a white noise app so it didn't bother me. I missed breakfast, but thankfully they hadn't cleaned up yet so I grabbed a banana and some Cheerios for the road. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because it is not accessible for those with disabilities. You have to take stairs up or down to all of the rooms, and yet there is no elevator. read more

We came down here on a whirlwind trip to checkout Emory University this weekend and we selected the University Inn at Emory as a place to stay while we were here. I give this place 3 stars for the nice (if no-frills) facility, and one extra star for location, location, location. It's literally a 10 minute walk from the admissions building. Check-in was a breeze. Both the day and night staff were super friendly. Maybe it's Southern Hospitality, but maybe they're just super nice. It doesn't really matter, as they were just all around pleasant. The facilities themselves were perfectly adequate. The room was clean. The hotel itself was quiet. And they had plentiful off-street parking. The continental breakfast was a good nibble before heading off for the day, but it wasn't the place to stuff yourself if that's your thing. I have a feeling we'll be coming down for another visit to Emory in the future. When we do I'll check the University Inn at Emory for vacancies first! read more

If I had to describe this hotel in one word, it would be wet. We were in a room on the bottom floor that was freezing when we first checked in. We set the thermostat at a more reasonable temperature and it became extremely damp inside. Also, the tub and sink were very slow to drain and the handle of the toilet needed to be held down during the entire flush. It often took more than one flush to work at all. We asked to be moved, but were told there were no more rooms, even though the parking lot was nearly empty all night. However, it is directly across from campus and only a few days before the students could move in, so that could be. Breakfast was very basic and fairly crowded. I gave it an extra star for the friendliness of the staff, but I would not stay here again. The bath towels did not dry overnight even hanging in front of the air conditioner. read more

I'm a little late in writing this review. I stayed here this past summer for two nights mainly due to the location. Like the other reviewers, I found the facility rather dreary and dated, however, it was fairly clean. But I had a great experience with the staff. After I left, I hadn't even noticed that I left my Louis Vuitton bag behind - so well hidden that I didn't see it when I packed up. I received a call from Martine at the front desk that they had found it. They ended up sending it to me via fed-ex. I cannot express how much I appreciate their honesty and great customer service. The housekeeper who found it could have kept it and I may not have ever figured out how or where I lost it. Many thanks!!! read more

Meh. It served its purpose, which was a place to crash for sleep at night while a family member was In the hospital. Definitely appreciated that I could park there without paying extra and just walk to hospital. Room was dingy/musty and not all that clean looking. Honestly I was so tried each night when I got back there it didn't matter that much to me. Not a place I would want to stay if I were going to be spending time in the room, but as long as you know what you're getting, it's fine. read more

Breakfast - bagels, breads, sweets, boxed cereal, yogurt, and coffee. During the week there is a lobby person who replenished the breakfast items and helped guests. She wasn't there on Saturday and it seemed like no ones was replenishing the breakfast items. Room - the room was spacious, and the bathroom was newly remodeled and clean, even had a heated lamp to heat up the bathroom. The beds were smaller than I am used to, full size instead of queen, but we made do with what we had. We only had to use the air conditioner and that worked as expected. On the 2nd floor (?), all rooms started with a 2 in our section, but it was the first floor up the stairs, there was a leaky air conditioner that created a large puddle on the concrete that every person climbing the stairs had to step in. This made the metal stairs slippery. Either no one working there ever walks around to check on things or they didn't care. Overall, it was fine but I have stayed at better places for the price that was paid for this room. read more

My wife and I just returned from our daughter's graduation from Emory. It was a fun and joyous occasion, but we also came away thinking, 'Where did the time go?' It seems like just yesterday we were helping her move into her freshman dorm. That visit, in the fall of 2008, also marked our first stay at the University Inn. Right away we knew we had found a home for ALL of our visits to Atlanta -- and, indeed, we signed up (and paid for!) our graduation weekend reservations that very same weekend in 2008. We could not have been happier with the decision. The location, for anyone with business (or a kid) at Emory, is ideal -- just a short dash across North Decatur. (Look both ways, and run fast!) We've stayed in both the main building and the annex and have been comfortable in both. The rooms and the fixtures are far from posh, but they're always clean and in decent shape. What really makes the difference, though, is the hospitality: From check in to check out, everyone connected to the U Inn makes one feel welcome and taken care of. The daily breakfast is relaxed, and includes a wide range of things to eat, from cereal, granola, yogurt and fruit to bagels and muffins; the daily papers are always on hand, and there's a wonderful feeling of community among the other guests in the small, bright front room. We also quite like the opportunity to have a glass of wine in the evening by the pool, winding down from a day of hoofing it around campus (or driving to stores off-campus for that always-needed shopping expedition). The pool is a very pleasant feature, too, whether one is swimming oneself, or just watching the younger kids playing. As I say, we just came back from graduation Weekend, and the staff at the University Inn really made it easy and special, extending checkout time, starting breakfast early to accommodate the ceremony and even giving us umbrellas when the rains came on graduation morning. We;re going to miss having our daughter in school -- and we're going to miss having the opportunity to stay at the University Inn a couple of times each year. I arrived to find myself assigned to the "Guest House"--truly a 1950's flea bag. Dirty paint, stained carpet, horrible mattress, old bedspreads, peeling linoleum on the bathroom floor. Thru the wall AC falling apart. The clothes closet is dark, dirty, and tiny--and in the bathroom! Ya can't help but feel dirty staying here! Internet access is good. read more

I have never written a poor review but want to spare others our experience. This is not an Inn. It is a motel. A motel often visited by travelling college sports trams. The walls and ceilings are extremely thin so that all noise carries. The bathroom is old and the fuse blew immediately after my daughter attempted to dry her hair. I was embarrassed to have a national speaker visiting Atlanta stay here yesterday. He felt unsafe getting to his room, passing garbage containers in a dimly lit area behind the building. There were no hangers in the closet, no place to put a suitcase and the bathroom doorknob came off in his hand. Absolutely unacceptable. I can't believe this place. On a sub-freezing night there was no heat in the room. The managers do not appear to be in any hurry to get the heat fixed and for the second time I have been offered to move to another room for the night. I booked for a long term stay and unpacked into a room in the now-unheated building, and there has been no offer to help me move things back and forth from one building to another (the 'other room' is three buildings away). I don't know what to make of this place, but I have never seen anything like it. Perhaps if they offered to be helpful or compensate for the unpleasantness of it - but nothing. read more

For the convenience of location, their price cannot be beat and belive me, I've done the research. I've stayed at the University Inn for over 3 months for a travel work assignment, so if your looking for something close to Emory University Campus/ the Emory University Hospital or the CDC, this is the most affordable and closest you can get without having to drive. My first hotel choice was 11 miles away and took an hour and half to get to on most days. The inn has a charming bed and breakfast feel and offers complimentary wine and beer throughout the week and continental breakfast as well as cookies and refreshments throughout the day. The staff are very friendly and have gone above and beyond their duties for me in several circumstances. This is a quaint, humble place for those working on a budget, especially for longer stays. read more

We've utilized the Inn numerous times over the past several years, generally staying there prior to an early appointment at Emory University Hospital to avoid AM traffic in Atlanta. The staff is most pleasant and helpful and always willing to make your stay special. They are working on Motel - renovating rooms as they can and they discount the older rooms. The price is a bit higher on the newly renovated rooms but worth it. If you need anything the staff is most helpful. read more

I'm from out of town and we paid 135 a night for a room with no extras not to mention we had 4 children under age 3 and they put people below us who kept calling and complaining on us next time maybe don't put people with kids above other people unless you have to kids are not always going to be angels oh and if you want a hot shower you have to turn it all the way to hot read more

I loved being a visiting scholar at Emory and the frontline staff at the University Inn were great. The problem was bed bugs - I have bites to show for my stay - and a very unprofessional management. From reading some of the review it appears the guest house is in a worse state in comparison to the main building. The guest house is not clean, paper thin walls and bed bugs. The management was dismissive of my concerns until I said I was going public at which point they said they would pay for my drycleaning. The issue for me isn't a drycleaning bill but being confident my exp would not be repeated for future guests. The management response left me with little confidence and so I am advising any prospective guests to find somewhere else to stay. Deals can be found on expedia or elsewhere. Getting clothes dry cleaned and the stress of having bed bugs makes this place a dump with five star costs. read more
