In my past experience, most doctors shrugged those symptoms off or were at a loss for solutions. She is also great for preventive care. I recommended her to a coworker. Upon seeing her for just a routine visit, Dr. Royston immediately noticed a troubling skin lesion and correctly diagnosed my coworker with skin cancer. With me, I always feel like she is on the case looking to prevent future issues: getting my oversized thyroid checked out for possible cancer, listening to my complaints about swollen hands and getting me tested for rheumatoid arthritis, checking to make sure I am scheduled for a colonoscopy given my age. She delves into family medical history, and she asks about my exercise routine (or lack of). I just had my annual physical with her and came in with 8 written questions, thinking she would never have the time for all of them. It is Northwestern, and regardless of which department you are seeing, at some point you may feel like it's a bit of a factory pushing people in and out. But she had time for all 8 questions, and I'm glad I asked. Some of her answers were surprising and in a good way. The office is also very efficient. I've never had to wait to get in. I actually got there early last time, and Dr. Royston saw me right away. Even though it is downtown, the practice feels like a family practice. I noticed I've been seeing the same nurse there for over 10 years. The nurses have given me good tips, like after a flu shot, and I've never had a painful blood draw in their labs. I can't recommend this practice highly enough. There may be a time or two when you feel like things are going quickly, but then just let the nurse or Dr. Royston know you have more questions. They will listen.

They were surprised I got billed because things weren't sorted, however, they did say I got billed for two visits on the same day. I thought that was a mistake, called Dr. Roystons office and they were like, if you had ANY complaints, that would fall into a second visit. I said, no, I literally had no complaints. Last year I had a problem with my neck, so maybe she just pulled over last years billing? Nope, she billed me for conditions she's not even managing. In my notes, it literally says managed by other physicians. I went in to speak with Chris Fuqua, he said he couldn't do anything, but because she put those diagnosis in, it's a separate visit. I was like, so I'm not suppose to inform her of my conditions other doctors are managing? Isn't that important for your PCP to know your health HISTORY? He basically was like, I cannot say anything. His silence spoke volumes. Not to mention, I was telling Dr. Royston during my visit that I would prefer vitamin B12 shots over her recommended vitamin B12 pills because I struggle with taking them and she was like... no. I was like, why? She said, the pills work, if it didn't work, then you can do a shot. I spoke to someone and they were like, you can go to minute clinic and it cost less to get a B12 shot then go through insurance anyway. She was dismissive and she's billing for conditions she literally is not treating. Just beware.... You will get charged for your medical HISTORY when speaking with her.

I came in for a follow-up after a serious hospital stay and was turned away because the office claimed they hadn't received a fax, despite it being sent the prior week. No real effort was made to locate it, and I was even refused when I offered to email the records myself. Dr. Dyer never spoke to me directly and instead made dismissive, disrespectful comments to staff within earshot. Given the length of time I was a patient and the circumstances, this was deeply unprofessional. I will not be returning and do not recommend this practice.

No tests run, didn't listen to most of what I said. A month later I returned because the headaches hadn't gone away. She didn't even examine me and gave me another migraine medicine. Turns out that I have a severe sinus infection... never mind that this was one of the things I suggested to Dr. Kissinger on my original visit, which she promptly dismissed. Gee, I wonder if it was as severe THREE months ago when Dr. Kissinger should have caught it to begin with!? If you want a quality, thorough doctor, try Dr. Anne Suh (also reviewed on yelp). She's at a different practice in the loop and is VERY thorough and willing to listen and get to the bottom of the problem.

After leaving her office after my first appointment, having spent $1,200 out of pocket, I hoped maybe it was just a bad day, but it wasn't and the issues only progressed with my next few visits. I had an issue with a prescribed medication and it took her three weeks to call me back, leaving me in the lurch and having to have my primary care dr step in and manage my care until I finally heard back from her. I think she has a lot of great knowledge but has a bit of an ego that doesn't allow her to properly care for her patients which is a shame, especially after paying so much.

The waiting room is full of patients. Privacy would be nice. "Dear"? I am twice your age, which means you should still be in college. Only women over 60 years old call me "dear." I say can with certainty that Dr. Hidaka's approach is unlike any other physician I've encountered. I feel as if he's an old friend who just happens to be a respected and accomplished physician. His care extends beyond "office hours." So last March, when I started having problems with pain in one of my hands and dropping things (I'm 26 and active, so that's not really normal for me), I decided to visit her. It started out well enough, as told to by the receptionist, I arrived 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork. Then was taken to a tiny, stuffy room where I waited a full hour. Ok fine, doctor visits aren't known for being speedy or in rooms with nice air flow. Finally the doctor pokes her head in, introduces herself, and asks if I wouldn't mind if a student doctor from Northwestern sits in. I said that was fine. She said she'd be right back. Several minutes later she came back with the student, introduced her, and left. The student, who was very friendly, spent a good 45 minutes asking me about my family health history and discussing my hand. She spent time moving it around, feeling it, etc. She took detailed notes the whole time. When she left, she left the door ajar and I could hear her and the doctor discussing me, my health and my hand for about 25+ minutes. By then, I'd been there 2.5 hours, and was not happy. Finally the doctor came in and proceeded to ask me all of the same family health questions the student did, even as she was holding the student's notes in her hand. She asked about my hand, didn't touch it, just asked a few questions. Finally she recommended that I quit my job and look for a new one since the repetitiveness of it was causing the pain. She also took some routine blood tests, because I was overdue for them. Three hours later I left. THREE. Are you kidding me?? It gets better though. She said she'd call in a week with my test results. Two weeks later I come out of the bathroom to see that I have a missed call from her. I call back and the receptionist answers. When I asked to speak to the doctor, she said "She just called you a few minutes ago, why didn't you answer?" I said I hadn't heard the phone ring. She said "When the doctor calls you, you answer, she is a very busy woman." I repeated myself, and said I wasn't ignoring her, I hadn't heard the phone and since it was a week past when she said she'd call, I hadn't exactly been sitting on the phone. She ended the call saying she'd have her call me. Fast forward exactly seven months to now... I never got a call back, and I only just this week received their bill, even though I saw when it went through my insurance company several months ago. This doctor (and clearly her receptionist) have no respect for people's time.Why didn't the doctor just sit in with the student, as initially implied, to save everything from being discussed more than once? A huge waste of time for us all. I will not be back there.
