One of the two Dr who we saw was basically useless and just referred to the other Dr in the same office. There was no urgency at all despite the real possibility that she has permanent 100% hearing loss. The condition requires quick treatment which is the greatest indicator for positive outcome. Wasted weeks instead of starting on treatment immediately. Then the front desk staff was not scheduling appointments according to the strict protocol that the Dr laid out, and they made appts that we already knew would be impossible to keep due to availability of the Rx from the compounding pharmacy. They said make the appt anyway, then we had to cancel and they have not called back to reschedule. Meanwhile her condition becomes more severe. Horrible awful quality of care, completely useless. Only go here if you want your condition to worsen or you have no other option. read more

We tried calling this place be prepared for a half hour wait time just to get to speak to anybody do not press pounds for the text messaging system. It is not faster than calling. They will tell you they'll get back to you in 1 to 3 days with an answer and then when you actually do get the staff, there's no personal touch you can tell it's they're just like reading a script for everything. They reply with. It's actually kind of sad. There's a doctor at this location Dr. Duff, who is a cut above the rest amazing it's just to get to him. It's like storming Guantánamo Bay. Been a patient for several years. Spent $6,000 on hearing aids they sold me. Supposed to go back every 6 months to get them checked. First few times were ok. Then had to reschedule appointment. On hold for 35 minutes, got an idiot who insisted I needed to see a doctor first. Finally got them to understand I needed my normal six month hearing aid adjustment. So, they connected me to a voice mail, out of office. Go anywhere else, they are impossible to deal with! Oh, and I see doctor once a year, spends 5 minutes with me, looks in my ears, teaks me I'm ok, charges $25 copay and hundreds to insurance. read more

Horrible experience - Dr. Godley -aptly named tried to treat me for migraines even though I went for ear wax. Then I was billed incorrectly and when I tried to fight it I was ignored. Would give neg 10 stars if I could. read more

Dr K is wonderful! She is wonderful with the kids and has a great personality. She explained everything that was going on to my son, and made the whole experience well worth our visit. I give her a 10 star. The two window 'receptionist' on the other hand I give a 0 (zero). At check-in I noticed a misspelling in our street name. When I told her about it, she never made the correction. (The doctor's assistant actually made the correction). After the appointment, the only reason that in approached the counter was to get a doctor's excuse for the visit. I asked the young lady for Doctor note. After searching for ever she told us that we had a copay. Not a problem but you would think to ask for copay before appointment. I told her that had we not needed a doctors note to get back to school today, I would not have stopped at the window. After paying, she asked if I needed a doctors note. When I told her that that's why we stopped at the window and that was my original request, she said 'so, let me know if we have an attitude. Because that sign (posted on their window) says that we are understaffed and we are not taking attitude from anyone.' At that point I stopped and said, 'thank you. I need a doctors note so he can go back to school.' She printed out the note and we ran off to get my son back to classes. Before giving my son the note to take into school, the note allows him to go back to school tomorrow. Not only are these young ladies incompetent, but they are rude. The doctor is excellent, but the window receptionists need an attitude adjustment. read more

We got here at 12:30 for my five yr olds hearing test and results and didn't leave until after 2pm. Granted we were a bit early but the hearing test appt was for 1 and the results were for 1:45 when the test lasts about three minutes. I'm sorry but u can't make people wait that long. The staff was friendly but it seems like it's less efficient here than other medical facilities. read more

I was seen by Dr. Ruhl after being evaluated by their audiologist. They recommended that I get fitted for a hearing aid. They wrote down a telephone number for an appointment for a hearing aid. At that time, their office told me if I can't get a hold of them for a hearing aid appointment that I should call them. I called them after waiting a few weeks for them to call me and they told me that they needed a referral from Dr. Ruhls office. They neglected to send a referral and I've been waiting. Very inefficient I waited all this time when I could've been fitted for a hearing aid. read more

Beyond disgusted! This office is NOT patient centered! Have been reaching out to them for weeks to no avail. They do not return calls and the front desk personnel do nothing but transfer you to voicemail. What is the point of having insurance on a hearing aid when you can't get in to have it fixed or to get an emergency appointment? God forbid they is actually a medical issue going on! Is there a MINUS ten star rating? Seven, SEVEN phone calls; 20 minute wait...let me transfer you... "we will return your phone call within 24 hours." Fast forward to today: One month later..... I called again today(#7)... 18 minute wait. I was referred by another MD, I need to make an appt..."hold on" she comes back to transfer me to..... ARE YOU READY??? THE BILLING DEPT!!! The message says call your third party billing company we can't talk to you regarding your bill. How can I owe you money when I have never been able to make an appointment never mind go to the office? All set with this circus. read more

This office is not patient-centered, so expect being put on hold, not being able to reschedule appointments with the receptionist and being asked to leave a message instead, having to make unnecessary repeat appointments for hearing tests & hearing aid evaluations, etc. There are no walk-ins available for basic quick fixes such as replacing hearing aid tubes or cleaning. Compared to other audiologists/ENTs I have been to, it did not seem very warm & inviting. At times, the provider seemed to talk down to me and disregard my nearly 40 years experience of being deaf & having incidental knowledge about my hearing and technology available. In an office, I saw a framed quote by Helen Keller which states, "Blindness cuts us off from things, but deafness cuts us off from people." That is an ableist quote from 1910 that is often taken out of historical context and used to pity people who are deaf and hard of hearing. In modern times, it is offensive to display openly in an place where many deaf and hard of hearing people go to for services. I advised them to take that quote down, but instead of honoring my request they said they'll take my suggestion under consideration. So, there's a lot of privilege and power imbalance between physician/provider and patient at this office which contributes to the uncomfortable culture that I've experienced. read more

I have a lifetime history of mild hearing loss and middle ear involvement, so finding a reputable ENT is a staple for me. Prior to moving to Providence, I was being followed by a specialist at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore whom I adored. He pointed me in the direction of University Otolaryngology and I haven't looked back. I usually see Dr. McRae, but have also seen Dr. Duff at the Waterman Street location on occasion. Everyone in the office is top-notch and they always manage to fit me in for a sick visit when I'm sure I have an ear infection. In fact, those ladies at the front desk work awfully hard to accommodate most requests. The doctors are patient and explain everything and answer all of my questions, and I've never felt like they're just rushing me out the door. The only part of my initial visit that I wasn't thrilled with was the audiologist, but thankfully, that can be done elsewhere. I highly recommend the doctors at University ENT for both kids and adults. read more

I am absolutely amazed -- amazed! -- by the promptness and efficiency of this office. I arrived a few minutes before my appointment to a room full of other patients, and barely sat down before my name was called. I cannot remember the last time anything like that happened at doctor's office. They were on time!!! After getting my CT scan from the friendliest and most charming technician I have ever encountered, I barely had time for a brief restroom visit before I went in for the allergy test. The allergy test is hardly what I would call enjoyable, as you're stuck 120 times with 120 needles -- it's a lot of waiting and a lot of pinching -- but the woman who conducted the procedure was warm and professional and impressively quick. So, why the 4-star review? The bathroom. It's FRIGHTENING. Like, dingy, smelly, dirty, spider-in-the-corner-staring-at-me-while-I-pee yucky and highly, highly outdated. Pee before you go, people. Other than a scary bathroom, I have nothing but glowing things to say about this place. read more

Appointment at 1115, waited till 1215...with a 5 day old newborn for tongue tie. Definitely not patient centered at all. Find a new place

I had turbinate reduction surgery with Dr. Burchard in November 2019. He promised a small improvement in my airflow from my right nostril and today I am getting a very small amount of air when I try to sniff with my right nostril. Previously I had no airflow. I was promised little and the promise was fulfilled. Later after the surgery, I attended two follow up appointments where he looked inside my nose with some type of instrument and used a suction device to vacuum particle matter that stopped bleeding from the surgery. On my third followup, he viewed my nose with an instrument but did no vacuuming. I asked if follow up appointments at this point were necessary because my insurance has a three thousand dollar deductible once the new year began. At that point due to the high cost of the surgery, I believed I was only paying 15% of the cost of the appointment. Dr. Burchard told me not to worry because follow up appointments were free. I asked if they were really free, assuming there may be a catch to this statement. He assured me they were really free and he did this to follow up on the operation to make sure everything was going well, he never made any caveat statements that it would be free for only 90 days. On January 21, 2020, he scheduled me for a follow-up appointment for 8:15 am on April 28, 2020. During this appointment, Dr. Burchard actually looked frightened to come near me due to the carona virus though I did not have it and was not sick at all. I have been tested at work since this appointment three times and have never been diagnosed with carona. During our appointment the doctor stayed 6 to 7 feet away from me at all times. The appointment consisted of him shooting a flashlight at me from 6 feet away looking into my nostril from that distance for literally a few seconds and stating everything looks good. He then immediately wanted to reschedule another follow-up appointment for October. Feeling that I had just wasted my time even coming for that appointment I asked if it was really medically necessary for the future appointment. He stated it was up to me if I wanted any further follow-up appointments. Feeling that even if the follow-ups were free, what was the point assuming he may give me another appointment from a six-foot distance so I chose not to book any further appointments. One month later I received a bill of $113.49 for my three-minute appointment. I called Optum their billing agent to contest the bill and within days they said they had contacted the doctor. Optum stated that I had misinterpreted the doctor and that follow up appointments were only free for 90 days. I then immediately tried calling the doctor's office. It is very difficult to get someone of authority to answer a phone at his office. I left a voice mail to a Wendy who never called me back. I then left a voice mail to an Amber. Amber left me a voice mail stating that I had to pay the bill and if I had a problem with it I could call my insurance company and that they were only following the rules of United Healthcare. I called United and spoke to Michael. Michael stated they had no power over the provider, but the provider had discretion under these circumstances to void the bill or adjust the bill. I had other issues with this doctor as well, during my first appointment I waited an hour just to see him. I was initially told it was going to be an outpatient surgery but then I was told it was going to be in the hospital which tripled the price of the surgery. I was told there was going to be free parking at the hospital but free parking is limited to only so many cars so that was not free as well. I was told to bring two forms of ID but was asked for a third form at the hospital which almost canceled the surgery. I was told to bring my sleep apnea machine to the hospital but then was told I did not need it and the hospital said they did not know why they tell people to bring it. My nose had so much gauze in it, I do not believe you could even get a mask around it. I was initially told to go to a hospital at 9 am for a pre-operation briefing but when I arrived I was told they had changed it to just a phone call. They wanted me to go home and wait six hours for the phone call when I complained that I was already there and no one had alerted me to any change they were willing to see me there. When I asked Dr. Burchard to fill out forms for T.D.I. and for my employer to get time out of work. He told me that he was not paid to fill out forms and that I would have to fill out most of the forms myself or he would just hand them back to me. Many of the questions on the forms are medical and without medical training, it is difficult to even know if you are filling them out correctly. I know the doctor is not paid to fill out forms but this operation in total cost was more than $22,000. I have been to this specific location twice. I'm not at all impressed with the patient service or the receptionists. Waiting 5 or more minutes just to be greeted by a receptionist who make you feel like you're burdening them. I get they are busy however a smile, a hello, or just being acknowledged would be nice. I had to drive to the office because no one would answer the phone, which I tried several different times waiting an hour or more in between calling. Honestly, I will not give recommendations for this location, I will send them to the E.G. office. However that being said the woman who did my CT scan was very friendly and she gave me comfort while I was nervous for my scan (She gets 5 stars). read more

Dr. Duff is great and easy on the eyes too;) not a long wait, easy check in and check out, parking was ok. It's a longer wait if you want to get into the Providence office, but pretty easy to get in to the EG office. read more

I am appalled of the experience I just had with this office this morning. I have the upmost respect for Dr. McRae and working in healthcare with healthcare professionals for years, I have recommended this office to many. Perhaps due to my illness, this intensifies my tremendous disappointment with my experience making an appointment for an illness that has limited me to speaking and with massive ear infections. I had to wait an entire day to get a return call for an appointment and when I did, the secretary was far from experience in customer friendly etiquette. Upon asking her to assist me with reaching out to my PCP for information she required, she denied assistance knowingly of my inability to handle this myself do to my condition. I explained she was unprofessional and I will see my PCP refers me to another office. Your office staff can make or break you, some of the finest Drs. around but the staff needs major training in dealing with patients and I will reach out to them personally to discuss this experience further. read more
