He tends to get anxious over medical procedures. Everyone is so patient with him. They take the time to fully explain procedures. I know this unpopular opinion but we have tried this office a few times over the last few years and each time, I feel pressured into making decisions that are very expensive for children's teeth. The last time I've gotten second opinion about putting 2-3 sealants on my 2yr old's teeth and both dentists confirmed that sealants would be wasteful. It was also confirmed that $4K worth of dental work on my then 4yr old was also unnecessary. :-/ Also I wasn't really comfortable with the level of comfort that the doctor provided for my child. She seemed annoyed with my child's nervousness many times and while her staff was stellar, I got the feeling they were tiptoeing around the doctor's mood. It really took a lot for me to write this, but I would just say some places aren't a good fit and this wasn't one of them for my family. read more

We love University Pediatric Dentistry! I have two sons and we have had nothing but great experiences here! My youngest son is 4 and was born 12 weeks premature so has had to have some additional dentist care. A different dentist office wanted to put him under anesthesia to fix an issue with his teeth, but me and my husband were uncomfortable with that option and decided to get another opinion. Dr. Funny was amazing and offered additional options that were not only safer, but also more cost effective while still solving the issue and making sure his teeth were healthy. Because of all the dental care he has needed, my son has always been terrified to go to the dentist. However, Megan always does such an amazing job at comforting him and getting his visit done quickly and effectively! She is so sweet with him even when he is being difficult and makes sure to do everything she can to make him comfortable while also getting the job done. She is the absolute best of the best! So thankful for her!! Every person on the staff is ALWAYS kind and friendly, and the place is super clean and kid friendly with a fun activity wall in the lobby. Superb service... seriously superb. From the front office staff to the Doctor, I've never received better treatment for my babies. This is the second practice I've visited and the first one in South Park was great but now it's too far from where we currently stay. There was one slight issue with billing also but they were fine. But this office! They really hit the nail on the head with the friendly above and beyond customer service, and with how they are screening patients and taking care of their patients amid COVID. Dr. Funny is the cherry on top of everything. From her friendly smile.. er' pre-COVID. She still smiles with her eyes.... to her soothing and reassuring voice. She has also gone all out for my youngest who is STILL teething. It's been over a year; but Dr. Funny has been patient with me. So much so, that sometime last year when I had the flu; because I wasn't allowed to bring the girls into the office, understandably; she actually FACETIMED me ya'll! It was to check out my youngest teeth because of my concerns. Now tell me, what other practice is doing all that???!!! AND telling me to call her or FaceTime her again if I have any other concerns before I'm able to actually make it to the office. AND when I call for advice, she calls literally 10 min later. You can't tell me that ain't SUPERB customer service. It's also the little things. 1. You have to wash your hands before you enter the area. 2. Of course they wipe everything down. 3. She insists on calling me Dr. (even though I have the credential, I still feel a bit uncomfortable when others call me Dr.) 4. She's patient and kind. 5. They don't have me waiting forever 6. I've only had 2 Dental Hygienists work on my girls teeth; however, they are have been lovely. Some people think because it's obvious they are going to work with kids, they are expected to be patient, etc; however, I've had my share of experiences (ie. daycares, other dental offices, etc) where they weren't mean; but just not sugary sweet like this practice is. I can take lackluster service with certain businesses when it's just me; but when it comes to my babies, I need more... I expect more. There's no reason to venture anywhere else. They're so good, even if I move to another area of the city, I'm still going to make that trek back here for my girls. read more

They are tone deaf when comes to caring for special needs patients and treatment towards parents is rude and insensitive. I've called for weeks attempting to speak with Dr.Manor to discuss other options rather than putting my child through the trauma of coming in the office when they are fully aware a dental exam is impossible without sedation. No calls were returned. When I finally got an appointment to come, I was rushed and my concerns were not heard. I was pleading with Dr Manor to get on the schedule for outpatient to take care of everything (exam,x-ray and to fix the issue for my visit, the cap that had fallen off) but they wanted to stretch out more office visits which were NOT necessary. We've been patients for years and are aware of procedure for outpatient. Dr Manor couldn't give a logical answer on why I was being asked to come back in for consultation when in the past it has always been given during the visit. After making second appointment for the consultation, I was sent the attached letter. This was retribution due to me questioning policy and pleading to get to my child care without unnecessary hurdles. They have never done a dental exam in office , regardless if both parents are present. IF you going to service special needs , then by all means stop putting barriers in the way preventing care by making parents jump through hoops, schedule adequate time for appointments, return calls and provide true accommodations. read more

We have started going to this place pretty recently for my 2 year old and we love it. Dr. Funny and her staff are so patient, sweet and accommodating with little patients and their nervous parents. They are patient with all your questions and will give you helpful tips. They have a lot of kids toys and activities to keep them entertained and for your child's first visit they give them a present! What a nice little touch! The location is pretty convenient too. I chose university pediatric dentistry because of the overwhelming amount of positive reviews. My daughters first dental visit at age 2 was a success thanks to the staff at UPD. I appreciate the friendliness and awesome customer service from everyone involved. They made my 2 year old feel welcome and were able to relieve her anxiety about going to the dentist. Ended up here when my pediatric dentist was out of town and with no appointment. The staff here was just great and with having a semi emergency Dr. Funny worked my child in to check for a potential problem and quickly discovered the issue and referred us to the appropriate follow up within 30 minutes, what a life saver they were for us! Dr. Funny also worked with my pediatric dentist when she was first starting out a few years ago and was my son's first experience with a dentist and she was great then and remains just as great. read more

We had our baby's tongue revision done here back in May 2021. I highly do not recommend this office for any type of revision procedures (stay far away, don't waste your money). Cleaning maybe okay but not big procedures. This has set my baby's breastfeeding attempts back, in fact it has made it extremely difficult for my baby to breastfeed now due to the double trauma he has gone through.  When the revision was done it was not done correctly here. Additionally, this office failed to do the post op follow up as promised. We played a lot of phone tag I could not get a hold of the dentist post procedure. I had three other medical professionals reevaluate it post procedure (Pediatrician, Therapist, etc) and they each confirmed it as not being completely revised. Further confirmed by another dentist when we got it corrected. This place was around an hour away (this is not easy to do when you are a first time mom). Side note: I wouldn't have wanted this Dr to revise it again anyway had she seen my baby in person post follow up (that is so much trauma for a newborn to have to go through), my concern was how can I trust that you'll do the revision right the second time. This process has been physically & mentally exhausting. We were still charged and did not get a refund/ partial refund ( due to it not being done properly). Big waste of time and money, go to someone who will do it right the first time. It will save you a lot of stress and maybe your baby can breastfeed sooner. My baby had to go to another dentist to get his revision done for the SECOND time. I cannot stress how frustrated I am about this whole situation and to make matters worse they will not even drop a portion of the bill. I'm expected to pay ( full amount) for a procedure that wasn't done correctly. If I can help another mom and prevent them from having to go through ALL the emotional turmoil that I've been through and save their baby from unnecessary surgery, do not get your baby's revision done here. I wish someone would have told me this before going here. So if you were on the fence about getting a tongue tie revision done for your baby do not come here. There are other good dentists around the corner that know how to do a laser revision right the first time. read more

I decided to try University Pediatric Dentistry in Charlotte after meeting with three other dental practices and feeling this staff related best to my 6 year old son. Office is clean and very kid friendly. Staff very attentive and courteous. There is an open floor plan which was familiar to me in the previous dentist my son went to and something that really narrowed down my choice when looking for a new dentist. After cleaning by dental assistant, we met with the doctor for more thorough cleaning and chat over my son's teeth. We discussed braces, which he'll need but decided to wait on for a few more years. When asking questions, I liked that Doctor Funny (her real name!) was not judgemental and great at listening before giving suggestions. Flouride vs non, how often to brush, when to get braces, what options for braces, etc. A very smooth visit and comfortable in my decision to switch to this practice.
