This was our first visit to this office and it was delightful! We made it on time and had to wait about 15 minutes after our scheduled appointment but once called back everything moved pretty quickly. The office is clean and organized! The staff were very polite and professional and took really good care of my baby. They praised him on having perfect teeth which made the cleaning super fast since they didn't have to do much. There is only one dentist staffed at a time, so keep that in mind. But, he was super personable and moved pretty quickly! The kids get a token that they can use at the vending machine after their visit, since my sons birthday is coming up they gave him two tokens which was nice! My son has had to come here quite a few times because his father loves to allow him candy for all hours of the day haha jk His dentist is Dr. Cecilia Hwang and she is nothing short of amazing. She cares for Jayden and communicates with him in a way that he understands every single thing she is doing when it comes to his teeth. I am very blessed to have a doctor that cares for my son and goes above and beyond. The staff at check in and check out are always so friendly! The dental assistants have been great as well! I am very protective of my child and am not afraid to speak up on something if he is being treated without care, but thankful the 4 times we have been here I have been pleased. One suggestion I do have is to allow parents the option to be with their young children in the xray room -- that is one thing that doesn't sit well with me too much and I would be appreciative if we had the option. read more

This office doesnt even deserve 1 star, took my daughter to see one of the dentist here upon examining my daughter for 5 minutes the female Asian dentist recommended full treatment, We came here for specific treatment for 1 of the chipped front tooth, but the dentist refused to treat only 1 tooth, she wanted us to do the full treatment, so since the dentist refused to treat my daughter, we walk off the offc...keep in mind we were only there for 5 mins and only leave because the dentist herself doesnt want us. This is the best pediatric dentistry that I have found in the University area. From beginning to end, it was a good experience for the entire family. The waiting room is spacious and entertaining for the children. All of my children received name tags upon checking in which made all of their interactions personal. Everyone was super friendly and called my children by their first names. The examination area is kid and family friendly. I was able to sit and watch my children receive their examinations in a bright open area. I could also go over and stand next to them during their exams as well. Once the exams were over, each child received a token to put in a toy dispenser to receive a little treat. Dr. Cami was awesome! She engaged each child on their level and clearly explained to me what my kids need to do to keep a healthy smile. I was given an individual treatment plan for all of my children which explained the recommended procedures along with pricing. I'm very pleased with how my children's appointments went and happy to say that this will be the dentistry that I'll bring them to for years to come. read more

We take our children to the Davidson location for dentistry and orthodontics. They've had a high turn-over rate of dentists which is disconcerting. Worse is that we decided to go with this practice because of the wonderful orthodontist there (Dr Sacks), who about a year ago moved on to his own private practice (in Mooresville-- I recommend his practice highly). This means that there is an orthodontist in the Davidson office only twice a MONTH. If my child's bracket pops off or a wire comes lose, (which has happened) I have to drive her 30 minutes + to one of the other locations. Because I work, this isn't always immediately possible, which has put her treatment back by 4 weeks. This is unacceptable. I can't recommend this practice. On the upside-- the support staff-- receptionists, dental assistants and hygienists are GREAT! read more

I am giving them 3 stars instead of 2 because they were very nice and polite. The dentist was very quick both times. I took my oldest in the first time and they were very nice with her. What I don't like is the open treatment area with 8 or so stations like an assembly line. One that's gross. Aersolized bacteria for however many different kids getting teeth cleaned at the same time. Two they are discussing my child's dental health and personal health info in front of anyone else sitting there waiting on their kids. Now I scheduled my 3 yr old for a visit and specifically requested he be scheduled for an individual exam room because he does not enjoy the dentist at all. He tends to scream and cry. He doesn't like being touched by anyone he doesn't know. We showed up 10min early to our appt, check in was quick and easy. When the assistant came to get us we were not in an individual room as I requested when I made the appt. She led us to the corral area instead. I informed her immediately that we would not be doing his exam in the corral area we were supposed to be in a room. She seemed annoyed and led us back up front and said we would have to go back and wait in the waiting room. We waited for 30mins. My son is already stressed and hungry then we have to wait an additional 30 min before being seen. I was basically peeling him off the ceiling. We finally get back to the exam room and they requested that I lay him on his back and hold his arms down. That sends my son into absolute fight or flight mode. He is extremely sensitive to being held down for any reason. At his previous dentist he was allowed to sit up and lean back against me while they brushed his teeth and applied the fluoride. Well here they refused to do that so my son is thrashing screaming and turning purple because he is fighting so hard. During the process of him flailing, crying and screaming his hygienist jabs him right in his gums with the toothbrush so now his mouth is bleeding. I point it out and ask again can he just sit up instead. They insist on this holding him down technique and tell me that his gums are just inflamed. Well yeah they are inflamed you just scraped them with the hard edge of the toothbrush and cut them. The dentist was a very nice man and very understanding but still insisted in the barbaric holding technique of holding him down. I know I am not laying flat on my back at the dentist when I go. Needless to say I will be doing research on a different dentist office. One that can be a little more accommodating to a terrified child like our previous dentist was in Colorado. I purposefully declined the restraints when I signed all the new patient paperwork. If my son wasn't traumatized and terrified of the dentist before he is now. I am not looking forward to his next dental appointment. I have never experienced the cattle call style treatment area until moving here. Which still grosses me out to no end. Not to mention I don't want my kids personal info announced essentially to the waiting room. I'm a vet tech and have more patience with accommodate my patients utilizing fear free techniques I can't believe they aren't using something similar in human medicine. read more

I must have not gone into enough detail in my original review, and how unprofessional your response is here Monty. Yes, my daughter had several cavities or caries as you call them- to which your office refused to consider treating until all of her baby teeth had grown in. It was a very unfortunate experience for me as a mother & the dentist who spoke with me in the wide open room as one other reviewer said- (no privacy) & delivered an estimate which blew my mind, as far as price goes. A few caries as you so masterfully pointed out - should not cost 6 grand to fix. While I sat in view of the others in the office with tears rolling down my cheeks - he sat there coldly and told me the other (only) option was to pull all the affected teeth. He literally said if payment is a problem we can PULL ALL OF HER TEETH. THOSE ARE THE OPTIONS HUH? Pay $6000 or pull her teeth. There was no compassion or sympathy. Or kindness in his delivery - it was business as usual- and honestly the reason I wrote this review was because I left feeling hopeless. Not like I had options. And I wanted other parents to know there are options in case they feel like they're having to put out an unfair amount of money to repair the mouths of their children. Esp from people who have no heart or true vested interest in me or my child's well being. If you look at my reviews I rarely use yelp to vent or complain. I just happen to - in my shame feel free enough to talk to another parent who had a wonderful family pediatric dentist in concord - to which I drove to from charlotte for the next few years, who didn't make me feel like a terrible person and shame me into unnecessary dental work or ANESTHESIA that was completely not needed. Humiliated. My son, whom we adopted from China a few years ago and who has special needs has had cleanings and procedures at the Davidson office where we were treated very well. Since we moved closer to the Mallard Creek location, we decided the experience would be equal. But it wasn't. My husband recently took him in for his dental cleaning and all went well, but inexplicably, they had asked him to bring in his adoption certificate. He was confused and then forgot to tell me when I took him in for a followup procedure. They scheduled it mid-day to allow for extra staffing just in case. They even mentioned maybe using nitrous oxide if necessary. So I let the school know I was taking the whole day off for this. So we get there and he receptionist asked if I brought it the adoption certificate. I thought the request was weird. Who goes around carrying their child's adoption certificate? "Well, I told your husband to bring it in." My heart sank. They would not do the procedure without it. The struggle to coordinate yet another day off work and school to satisfy this ridiculous policy? What? Really? Do they ask other parents for.... 'birth certificates'? Do they think I'm up to no good? Do they think I just get random kids to come in and call me mommy to get their problem teeth extracted for...fun? I don't understand! They did not require it of my older son, also a long standing patient at CPD, so I know it's not a requirement that is universally requested. So we left without having the procedure (I dare them to bill me...just try me). The dentist did not even come by to talk to me or try to explain or defend it. And now I'm stuck with having to find another pediatric dentist who understands the struggles of adoptive parents with special needs kids. This was one horrible, humiliating experience. read more

Dr. Moore is extremely unprofessional. He snatched paperwork out of his assistant's hand and balled it up when he learned that I wanted Dr. Hwang to work on my daughter's teeth. My daughter had a space maintainer put in a month ago that became embedded in her gums. We needed to see a doctor right away and Dr. Moore was the only doctor available. He informed his assistant to remove the maintainer so that they can place it back in. Upon further examination he suggested a new maintainer be made due to some shifting had already occurred. I asked if this was going to be an additional charge and he became defensive. I asked to come back the next day to have Dr. Hwang put the maintainer back in. This did not go well!!! As a parent if I do not feel comfortable with you I have every right to walk out. Please do your research on this doctor. He has a past!! read more

Dr Hawng insisted that my child needed an appliance put on her teeth to correct issues. We agreed to put appliance on. Next week my child complained about mouth pain, called office, spoke with hygienist. Told them my child was was unable to swallow. My child was barely eating, was told she would be fine. I had an appt scheduled for the next day. At appt the xray showed the appliance had come unglued and attached itself to her gums. Hygienist apologized she wasn't familiar with this appliance. WHY WERE YOU GIVING MEDICAL ADVICE IF YOUR NOT FAMILIAR WITH THE APPLIANCE? Dr Hawng told me appliance had caused two holes in my childs gums from it reattaching itself to her gums. The appliance had to be removed so gums can heal/prevent infection. Was told it was caused by using weak bond. And to return in two weeks to reapply. Next appt appliance was reapplied. 48 hours later the appliance had popped off/part of it was pushing into her gums/the spring was sticking up in her throat. I called the office. Was told the dentist had 30 minutes to call back. This is UNACCEPTABLE, my child is vomiting, the spring is sticking straight up into her throat. 41 MINUTES LATER, STILL NO RETURN CALL. Called back, was told that they called the dentist, she didn't answer. They told me they were following protocol. They told me to wait on a call, its now been 50 minutes since my first phone call. We drove to office in hopes dentist would see us.One hour later waiting in the car at the office with my child throwing up in the back, I received a call it's Dr Putney. I told her the appliance needed to be removed, it was clearly defective, my child was choking on it! She said come to Davidson office, told her I was at the University office, it would take me time to get there. Dr. Putney said it was ok, she was at home and had to drive to there. It was Friday afternoon, the office was closed. I arrived Dr Putney removed the appliance. I called office next day about being refunded for appliance, it was clearly defective/applied wrong twice. Was told they would partially refund. We followed all the dentist instructions, clearly the appliance was defective. I asked to speak with Dr Hawng. Was told she would call me back. She did, first thing Dr Hawng said was I HOPE YOU KNOW I'M CALLING YOU ON MY LUNCH BREAK. As if my child's dental emergency wasn't important enough for a follow up phone call. She acted as if we were a huge inconvenience to her. I said I shouldn't be responsible for paying that bill. She said they did a partial refund, the remaining balance was my responsibility. She said to come back in the office for other treatment options, which were never presented to us, this was the only option given. I declined. I disputed the charge with care credit. I contacted office for my childs medical records. I received them by fax. The records noted the visit with Dr Putney, the note did not document any problems that we were having, it stated that I had come into the office requesting to have my childs appliance taken off. Note said that dentist was sitting in the office waiting on a call back from me, this is a lie. The office was closed. Office note stated that my childs visit was "a limited exam/problem focused. Days later, I again requested medical records be mailed. MY CHILD'S MEDICAL RECORDS HAD BEEN CHANGED, A NOTE ADDED AFTER THE VISIT AND BACK DATED. The note had deleted out the comment "a limited exam/problem focused" and replaced with a back dated note. Note had no indication that visit was due to problems with the application, it stated that I had come into the office and requested the appliance be removed. It also stated the appliance was fully intact and properly bonded. I HAVE PIECES OF THE CEMENT SHE ALMOST CHOKED ON AND THE SPRING WAS OBSTRUCTING HER THROAT TO THE POINT SHE WAS THROWING UP.  All lies. read more

My son has been seen by Charlotte Pediatric Dentistry three times so far. He is 2.5 years old and has only gotten cleanings so I don't have experience with further treatment at this point. I can tell you that the customer service we have experienced so far has been great. The front desk is kind and the hygienist and assistants really treat my son with kindness. Dr. Hwang (I apologize if I'm misspelling her name) is also very kind and thorough. My biggest issue was the wait time. We had a 7:30am appointment and were the first patient in the office. They checked us in and the hygienist got us in right away. After the cleaning, it took almost 20 minutes for the doctor to come in for the exam. As you can imagine, it is difficult to keep a 2.5 year old occupied; especially in such an open treatment area. We handled it but it would have been nice to been seen quickly, especially being the first ones there. read more

This is certainly not the best customer service experience I've ever had. I contacted this place for a new appointment with my daughter. I was told that I had to have my insurance information verified BEFORE I arrived. I explained I did not have the card on me but will have it at the appointment. I was then told that it had to be verified before arrival. This was unusual considering I've been in healthcare for 20 plus years and have held this same position previously. However, it's their rules so I assured her I would call back. The appointment was made the DAY BEFORE. So the next morning (the morning of the appointment) I called them at 8A to provided the insurance information. The person that answered said she couldn't take the information and that that someone would call me back. 20 mins later I called back. She was still unavailable. I explained I have the info and offered to give it to her. She tells me the only way to verify the ins is with my SSN. I rejected as I know that the ins # on the card is all that's needed. She placed me on hold and come back saying she will take the card inf but the SSN is still required. I said have the ins person call me. Ins person calls me back and also said it's not possible to verify the ins without my SSN. I asked have you even called the # I gave you. All the information has been provided,the group #, the enrollee # the customer service #, everything. (If you had, you would see my SSN is NOT required). She still insist. Meanwhile the time for my daughters appt is still ticking. I said you have to get this taken care of. Im coming from Concord and I need this verified so we can make the appt. I finally requested a Office Manager, I explained the appt was near and I'd been working on this for almost two hours. She said ill call you back. She did 10 mins. BEFORE my appt. and said Im sorry we have new staff. They wasnt aware you didn't need the SSN. (again, you would if you would actually call the # I provided) then tells I can come in. I said I live in Concord I cant make it to Charlotte 10 mins. She asked me to reschedule. I explained my schedule was changing next week. That was my only day. She offered next day, I explained I was booked, at this point (i'm feeling) she is trying to get an appt not thinking of my time, I say that because I explained I have a 10:30 appt with my FA and wasn't sure how long I'd be there and it was 25 mins in the other directions. She said well we can put her in for 12. Ok, fine whatever. As expected my appt ran late and I couldn't make the appt. Then the send me a letter saying I've missed too many appts. NEWSFLASH YOUR INABILITY TO CORRECTLY VERIFY INSURANCE was how the appt was missed. HOW IS YOUR ERROR MY ERROR??? I did as I was asked, I called 3 hours ahead to provide you with information and you FAILED to utilize the information correctly. Then you pushed an appt on me when I told you I had an appt . Granted I will accepted the last missed appointment but the first one WAS YOUR ISSUE. It seems the fact that you were found to have poor training some how reflects on me. This is not good customer service. Thank for showing the type of service I would have been provided!!!!! in addition to that if you HAD actually verified the insurance you would know my name is NOT SUZANNE and my child's name is NOT DAJAAH. So again, it show poor training on your behalf!!!!! It seems you never even did your job because everyone knows the insurance will verify the patients name and policy holder name. read more

We have been going to the Mallard Creek office for about 7 years and it keeps declining in professionalism and good business practices. They started with changing appointment times and not alerting us of a change just to confirm an appointment. Then started pushing high dollar treatments that they wont guarantee. Now on our last and FINAL visit, I was quoted a price for x-rays, cleaning, check up, and fluoride treatment of $166 per child. I received this quote in the summer of 2016 and January of 2017. After I received the quote in January 2017 I schedule the appointment and could not get in until the end of March. When I got there and since I was self pay, they showed me the treatment plan. The cost was increased to $250 per child. I told them I was quoted $166 for all on the treatment plan that included all four treatments. The office manager was gotten and that is where all professionalism and honesty ended. She proceeded to agree to the quoted price, then remove the x-rays from the treatment plan, then demand I sign a waiver that I refused x-rays when they are the ones refusing to take them, argued with me as to what I was quoted twice on the phone, and in the end they refused to see my children. They wasted our time and upset my children. They are immoral on many levels and I would tell everyone to steer clear of this place! There are plenty of other dentist offices out there so no one has to put up with or be treated like they treat their patients and parents. I found a new professional dentist the same day and is less than half the price of them. read more
