Someone stole my 3 year old daughter's tap shoes while she was in class and I had to buy another pair instead of the school accepting responsibility for it. The end of year dance recital is rip-off. 100 for a costume, 80 for a participation fee, 25-30 per ticket, and they tell parents about this 2 weeks before the recital. Let my daughter stay in for the entire class year but next year she went elsewhere

Giants verse Commanders -- Season Opener…read more It was a crisp Sunday morning, we arrived early for tailgating and pregaming before the game would take place that afternoons. The air was charged and filled with excitement. We all wondered which team would be the victor, who'd bring home the first win of the season?! The food in the club house for season ticket holders was good "game day food." There were soft drinks, hot dogs, other snacks and treats. Before we went to the stadium, we enjoyed music from a band at one event and from a DJ at another. There was also a BBQ event, to decide who had the best food. A perfect mother and son day of football. All in all, it was a great day at the park with the grid iron gladiators.

We were so lucky he agreed to drive well outside of his usual area to perform. His illusions were mesmerizing, and he expertly handled a room full of inquisitive and skeptical kids by getting most of them involved in his performance. He gave a great message in the end of the performance also, drawing on the themes of inclusion and acceptance from the Harry Potter stories, which the adults present also mentioned as being a highlight. We cannot say enough great things about his professionalism and performance and we would highly recommend him for any event!

After being inspired by a cultural showcase I attended, I had to get back into hip-hop dance class…read more It has been like a decade, but I dove right into researching all the local dance studios... we have quite a few. There were some places that weren't weekly, some that were just for kids... and then this studio... they have something for everyone. It's located right off of Forbes Blvd, and when classes are in session, that little parking lot gets really busy! When you first enter, you just kind of see folks sitting all over the place, and it's kind of hard to tell who works there and who doesn't -- but everyone is friendly! When I first came and said what I was there for, they said to settle on in and that the previous class was still going on. Once it was over, we were gestured in. The first several classes I've done all started about 10 minutes late. The corridor to get to each studio is a bit tight -- I'm fine with it, but I could see certain people get claustrophobic. The teacher and content of the class are great -- one key difference with this one compared to others I've taken is that they're always working towards a recital. So some weeks the routines are repeated and built upon, versus it being changed up every week like I'm used to. The dance academy updates primarily come through a Facebook group -- I signed up for texts, but I don't get those quite as consistently. The fees are pretty reasonable to me, and as I said there's something for everyone. The website pics and even the group (titled Parents) almost make it feel like the academy is just for kids, which can be a bit misleading. If you're in the area, I recommend checking them out!

When they let out a class, there's no supervision. Kids are free to run through their the parking lot, looking for their ride, which I found appalling. In addition, the owner doesn't pay her rent. She still owes her contractor for the build out of her studio and she has a habit of stiffing other landlords in the past as well. Not anyone I'd care to give my hard earned money to.

Cheverly Pottery is the best. The studio is welcoming and the potters are friendly. There are…read morestudents of all skill levels and various classes to fit your experience or get your feet wet. As someone who has been throwing pots for a few years, I'm definitely eyeing the the Studio Artists which is designed for independent ceramicists. The studio space itself is pretty large and Kendra keeps a large supply of clay, tools, and other items you'll need for throwing pots or hand building. Even more importantly, pots get fired pretty quickly so you're not waiting weeks to finally get to your batch of pots that need to be glazed, etc. Kendra also works with you on honing in on any techniques if you've got the basics down, or helping you master the foundational skills. Given the pottery studios in the DMV are always full and have waitlists, it was very exciting to see this new studio open up and actually get a spot without wondering if I'll ever get a chance to take a class!
