Last year I was researching a tattoo artist that could complete a dog portrait for me, that would not only be realistic but would hold up over the years. I have fairly old skin and I know tattooing that type of skin is a little bit more difficult. I went to nearly every shop in Everett, Marysville, and Lynnwood and wasn't impressed with most of the portfolios. A few of the places I had went into had artists who "specialize" in portrait tattoos, but the tattoos just either didn't seem to stand out, didn't have the likeness of what they were replicating, or just weren't good. I had heard of Travis one day as a young lady who was my waitress at a restaurant I was eating at had a beautiful sleeve tattoo full of flowers that Travis was working on. It wasn't complete but It was already so beautiful. On my way home I stopped at the hair salon, and the woman who cut my hair also had several tattoos showing that Travis had also done. THEN the next day my coworker come in with a fresh tattoo of a watercolor flower that Travis had just done the previous day. It was clear that I needed to find this artist, and see if he thought the portrait was something he could pull off. I did a quick google search of his name (Travis Broyles) and found a huge list of web sites featuring his work, from worldwide magazines, tattoo conventions, blogs and even fashion websites. It was clear that this guy was dedicated to his craft, and it showed in his work. I was surprised to find out that he does a lot of portraits most of which are animals. I really liked that his website had a showcase of all different styles of tattooing that he is able to do as it made me think he is able to tackle almost any project. I emailed Travis immediately after looking through his pictures, and was surprised that he got back to me within a few hours! We discussed a few ideas and he really layed out a few options to me as far what would work with my tattoo and what wouldn't work or what wouldn't hold up over a few years. I had a few scars that I wanted to cover, so he suggested that I come in and chat with him. About a week later I went to the studio (NiteOwl Tattoo Northwest) and met with him in person. He was so very kind, and we worked out every detail of the tattoo in only a few minutes and I had an appointment set for my portrait tattoo. His schedule was booked out a little bit further than I wanted to wait, but work of that level isn't something you find often so I decided to wait for him. I actually ended up hanging around the studio for about 30 minutes after the consultation just looking at all of the amazing artwork around the studio, and all of the cute decorations they have. There is a cabinet full of amazing rare items like taxidermy and old bottles and I am SO very jealous of the bathroom! It is absolutely gorgeous. About 5 months later I showed up for my appointment, and Travis was quick to get started discussing the drawing he had already worked out (and it was absolutely perfect) and worked out a paper transfer that fit perfectly between a few other existing tattoos I have. I filled out all of the required papers and we began the tattoo shortly after my arrival. The tattoo took only a few hours but I was surprised as to how light handed he was, and how insanely delicate he was with the entire process. He gave me a few breaks which i requested and was so patient with me in the tender areas. Travis went over the aftercare with me and made sure I understood the entire process, and also emailed me an aftercare sheet for reference. He gave me some of this tattoo ointment that is absolutely amazing. All organic but I cannot remember the name of it. About a week and a half later my tattoo was fully healed and so perfect. Thank you Travis for not only making my dream a reality but for being honest, patient, and really going the extra mile on my tattoo. You are a true professional and the love you have for art really shows in your tattoos and fine arts. Short version: Travis Boyles (who did my work) is so damn professionals in every sense of the word. Talented, kind and funny in an industry that seems to pride itself on aloof and snobbish when it comes to the art of tattoos. I have dark skin so trusting someone to cater to what works for My skin tone is tough. This was my 8th, tattoo experience, and I can safely say I'll never go anywhere else for ink if I can help it. Unknown Tattoo Co is a very cool and eclectic tattoo studio can be found sandwiched between a delicious bakery "Grain Artisan Bakery" and "Spada Farmhouse brewery in downtown snohomish. I can't speak for the other artist in the shop but Travis Broyles is such a stellar artist. I was greeted (not ignored) by three out of the four men hard at work throughout my experience there and as a female, I felt safe and was shown respect. The studio itself is very clean even the merch had a great dialed in touch. I believe he has his artwork for sale but that's a total guess! The consultation: I contacted the shop via instagram and shared my bad experience with a single needle artist who recreated a favorite piece of art work that left me completely unsatisfied. I shared the image of the failed tattoo and the image I was looking to recreate. I was suggested two different artist and hot damn I chose the right one! Travis Broyles slayed. Even with an apprentice over his shoulder studying his moves he showed no signs of being bothered and the humorous banter between the two helped numb the light stings of an almost pain-free appointment. Travis was swift but professional. He can shoot the shit with you while he inks you up but doesn't lose focus on his ultimate goal...giving you an incredible piece of artwork. Never have I received such impeccable service from a tattoo artist. From the instant I stepped foot within the doors of NiteOwl, I knew that this was the place for me. The artists are very prompt, proactive, exceptionally professional and tremendously friendly. I knew that Jeff Davis was the artist for me after reviewing his work through the studio's Facebook page and website. He understood what I was looking for almost instantly, he worked with my ideas but ultimately created a piece that I am very happy to call my own. The process was seamless (I'm not going to say painless, because it's a tattoo, it's going to hurt), hilarious and ultimately fun. I have had a history of blood sugar drops while getting work done, but this time it went without a hitch. Jeff understood when I needed to stop for a moment, get some water and recompose myself before continuing. This was my first time working with Jeff, and I will be returning without a doubt. Overall the process from start to finish was more amazing then what I had initially expected. The end result more than what I could have imagined or even asked for. It is hard to find artists who genuinely love what they do, but NiteOwl does not lack in that department. I feel very fortunate to have found Jeff Davis at NiteOwl Tattoo. He hooked me up with two tattoos combined into one piece, that are truly unique and offer exceptional quality. I find myself checking the work on my arm often and when I do, I feel extremely happy with how things have turned out. Jeff is an exceptional artist with a signature style and artistic voice that is one of a kind. He ought to be in one of those trendy Seattle shops, where all the hipsters go, to feel cool about themselves. I'm glad he's not - selfishly - because otherwise I would never have been able to realize the source of pride I feel in having something of which no one has and a piece of quality work in which has significant meaning in my life. It should never be, just a tattoo, from my perspective. Nite Owl is AMAZING! I am impressed! Travis and Jeff are so very talented. Shop is clean, art is beyond awesome! Since my first visit, I have felt comfortable. I got repeat appointments on the books for months now. Getting old tattoos touched up and adding new ones. I am always thankful for the ideas they come up with, before my appointment and during them. My tattoos have turned out great. Spending time in this shop is a getaway for me, I truly enjoy the time I have spent with both Jeff and Travis. I'm always looking forward to my next visit. Traditionally I have found artists to be a little flakey with either time and/or quoted estimates on work I am looking to get or just schedules in general. NOT my experience with Nite Owl. From a customer service perspective, I make future appointments while I am there and they are kept! Then I'm called to confirm/reminded when the appointment is getting close. They Have fantastic artist's working their and a Nice Clean shop! i know Several people who have got work from here all the art tattoo pieces i have seen have always been out of this world just amazing detailed tattoos! I've known Travis and been getting tattooed by him for many years now. He truly is a master of his craft that just continues to get better and better and better. He's extremely creative with what he brings to the table from start to finish always working with your wants in the forefront of his mind. He's always willing to talk abou any idea you want and amazingly helpful if you aren't fully aware of what you are wanting or maybe with things you didn't thing to add to your idea. I will continue to come back for many more years to come, there is no one I trust with my skin more than I do Travis. Best tattoos in the area! So glad to see this guy have his own shop now! I have been getting work done by Travis for over 5 years and can honestly say I will never go to another artist. He's very professional, amazingly talented and never over-charges! He's always been really willing to work with me on price! Two of my largest pieces were done by Travis, including my chest piece, and I constantly get compliments about how vibrant and beautiful the work is! Travis has always listened to the ideas I have and been super stoked to bring them to life through a tattoo! He's so fun to work with and has wonderful "bedside manner" (so to speak). Travis is my tattoo artist. He's done my upper back/shoulders. I am not always comfortable walking into a tattoo shop, but Travis made me feel comfortable from the very start. He is easy to talk to and really listens to what you want done. He pays attention to every little detail and tells you exactly what to expect. I am a very particular person, especially when it comes to my tattoos, so there have been times Travis draws up my tattoo and I've asked him to change this or that, and he never complaines or makes you feel like you've inconveniencing him. I also tend to shake a little and sweat a little from the adrenaline of getting the tattoos, and Travis always puts me at ease about it. He is really easy and fun to be around. The shop itself is clean, well lit, and I love the decorations! The needles are always brand new, I watch him open the packages. And he is very quick too! I am always happy with my results. I was tattooed by Travis Broyles at a tattoo convention in CA and he is hands down my favorite artist. I can't imagine ever being tattooed by anyone else after working with him. My now husband, boyfriend at the time, recommended Travis to me after also getting a piece by him at a convention. Travis was easy to work with, perceptive and knowledgable. We discussed my idea, a cross stitch rose memorial piece for my grandmother. He gave me his thoughts, expert opinion if you will, and designed and planned something that exceeded my expectations. I always approach with some very unique and different super colorful requests and he rises to the occasion every time. He is super sweet, a great artist to work with and in the last year has done about 7 new tattoos on me. I am so glad I found an artist who doesn't shy away from colorful, creative things and I appreciate the honest feedback when I suggest something too small for the detail I want Jeff always tells me he can do it, but it won't look right. Jeff has done my last few tattoos, and every single one has been amazing. I have zero artistic vision, so I'm pretty hopeless at giving direction and he still manages to give me exactly what I was hoping for. A friend recommended I check out NiteOwl for my tattoo and I'm glad I did! The shop is super clean and the vibe is great. I talked with Travis for a few minutes and he was already coming up with ideas on how to turn my vision into a sick tattoo. I emailed him a few times before my appointment with ideas and when I came in to get the tattoo he showed me a few options and really worked with me to come up with the best design. I never would've come up with the final design on my own, Travis' artist eye was exactly what I needed to take what was in my head and make it a reality. My brother and I went to get a couple tattoos done. I had been looking for an artist who would be able to take my simple tattoo idea and bring it to life. I wasn't able to find any artists who had pristine lines that were appealing for what I wanted, so I kept looking. When I finally gave in to looking up unknown's instagram I quickly saw a few tattoos that had lines similar to what I had been looking for this whole time. I finally contacted them and got ahold of Jef, who allowed me to show him my portrayal, kept the things I liked and changed the things I did not like. About two years ago I was looking for a new shop, I wanted one closer to me. I found Travis page and was instantly hooked on his art ! I met him and he was so down to earth and excited ! We connected on so many different levels including Disney ! He did a dna tree on me and it came out 1000 times better than I thought ! Had bad luck with another artist (different shop) and had to cancel the appointment, called Unknown up and they said they might have availability for a walk in waited like 45 minutes, got an artist and told him the idea, his name was Jake Hades, he did an awesome job working together adding in details I hadn't thought of, was nice to talk too and worked relatively fast... I want to add some more to my forearm to go with my first tattoo eventually but for now 100% satisfied and will definitely go back again for Jake You guys are awesome shop is well decorated and cool, in a weird spot for sure definitely unknown but man you guys are great! I have a lot of experience with Tattoo places, and Unknown Tattoo Co. is by far the greatest on every level that you could ask for. The owner, Travis, is extremely professional and still one of the coolest guys my husband and I have met. Everyone else that works there is super professional and rad as well. It's extremely clean and they're some of the most talented artists we have ever seen. We will never go anywhere else after our several experiences there. Go for Unknown Tattoo in Snohomish, always! Been getting work done from Travis the owner for over 5 years and get daily compliments on all the pieces he has done. I have full sleeves made of multiple different sessions, he did an amazing job of making it all blend together but not losing the personality of each piece. I love that I can trust Travis with a basic idea and have him draw something beautiful and just right. The shop is absolutely gorgeous, him and his wife did an outstanding job on decor. There is so much cool stuff to look at while you are getting work done. Its super clean and Travis prides himself on the latest tech and practices to keep it that way.
