My best friend/dog Louie has been a member of the Unleashed family for 6 years. When I say family I mean it! EVERYBODY at Unleashed treated him like one of their own. Whether on adventure walks, daycare or boarding he was always in great hands. After getting a new puppy, Unleashed in the City was recommended to me from a friend who lived in the neighbourhood. From day one, the team at Unleashed did not disappoint. My Wheaten Terrier Charlie, immediately became a part of the Unleashed family and I could always trust that Charlie was getting the best care and attention during his daily 'fun runs' at the beach or park. The team was always professional and very accommodating on those days when I needed to make a last minute schedule change. Unfortunately we had to say good-bye to Unleashed when we moved out of the city last week. The day Unleashed In The City opened up around the corner from my house could also be called 'best day in my/my dogs life' thus far. Otis has been there four years now (holy! where has the time gone?), and it has brought me such peace of mind and comfort to know that he's there and not sitting at home, lonely and waiting for me to return (or destroying all my things/eating things he shouldn't). The team at Unleashed (every single person there - truly) are nothing short of lovely human beings and complete life savers. They consistently go above the call of duty for us. Otis loves going to playcare - he goes almost every week day - and he boards whenever I can't take him with me. The daily report cards are filled with personality, humour, compassion and love. I wholeheartedly trust their instincts whenever it comes to safety: Recently, I was out of the country, and they called me to say they were concerned about an issue and offered to take him to the vet to make sure everything was AOK. It means SO much to be able to call the Unleashed family, a 2nd family for my dog. If it was possible to give more than 5 stars, I would give 1000. read more

My golden doodle Chloe and I have been a part of the "Unleashed in the City" pack for 5 years now and time flies when you're having fun. I signed up with Unleashed after walking by their store front and immediately trusted the team there to care for my beloved dog. Their intake was so thorough, geared to match Chloe with her best pack mates. Chloe has made friends with the walkers and other dogs, so much so that she gets super excited if ever we cross paths with them on our own walks. I've also been home on a few occasions when she gets picked up for walks and she is beaming with excitement to go meet her pack. Over the years, Unleashed has never let me down. They are so reliable and trust worthy. The company has evolved and grown, and I'm so proud of Kate and her team for doing so. Dear customer...Kara. I understand it must have been frustrating to be turned away as I was a little confused the first time I used their services but now I understand why and APPRECIATE the fact that they insist on meeting the dogs first to ensure your dog is not agressive and will be a good fit. I wouldn't want my pups being involved with dogs that don't have vaccines, have aggression issues or are fighters. Kate and her team are diligent about the care of the dogs they look after each day and I would now never consider leaving them with anyone else. I just picked them up today after they stayed with Kate for 6 days. I miss them like crazy when away but at least I know the staff there adore them, take care of them like they would their own and Kate takes them home every night to her personal space where they sleep like babies and are treated like royalty. They even send me pictures and report cards when they are looking after them. Who could possibly ask for anything more. They are beyond professional, loving and dedicated to doggies there. I've been using Kate to walk my dog since she was a one person show. Now her business has expanded to an entire team, and yet the quality and consistency of care has not gone down at all. Everyone that I have ever encountered at Unleashed is nothing short of exceptionally courteous, professional, and kind (to both dog and owner). My dogs actually love boarding at Unleashed, which takes a huge amount of stress off of us when we have to go away. Unleashed goes above and beyond, consistently. My dogs, being two big, sloppy hounds, are far from easy and with Kate and the Unleashed team I NEVER have to worry. They come home tired, safe, and happy every single time. After reading some of the recent reviews I am, quite frankly, shocked! Kate and the Unleashed team have never shown anything but the utmost professionalism, kindness and affection toward all the dogs in their care. My Weimaraner is a rescue who suffers from severe separation anxiety to the degree that she can't ever be left alone. She adores going to Unleashed and has bonded with each and every staff member. In fact when I drop her off, whether for playcare or boarding, she doesn't even look back for me, and goes to greet all the staff and her doggy pals. I don't ever worry about her while she is in their capable hands. I love my dog more than anything and would never send her somewhere that mistreated her or where I didn't have ultimate confidence and trust in the people looking after her. I first met Max at the dog park while he was on a pack walk, even before I interviewed with Kate. I was thrilled to see how attentive he was with the dogs. I have even seen him carry a nervous dog to the door when she was unsure about wanting to walk through the store front. It reassured me that I was making the right decision for my girl. Astrid now looks at Kate as a second mom. She has boarded many times and is happy and content when I pick her up (and better behaved!!). I feel that when people choose this platform to air petty grievances, some based on half the story, that they clearly have too much time on their hands. To suggest that this place should be "put out of business" is insulting the intelligence of the loyal clients who trust Unleashed in the City with our furry family members. I have recommended Unleashed to many people, friends and strangers alike. I am not new to the world of dog daycares as I have used them for Astrid while living in Los Angeles, and have been frustrated that there is nothing that remotely compares to the services that Unleashed provides. I will end with this note: spraying a dog in the face with a squirt bottle to prevent inappropriate behaviour is not cruel or unkind. It is a training tool that works without causing harm and I have consulted a professional behaviourist in LA on this topic when I hired him to help with Astrid's anxiety issues. To insinuate that the Unleashed staff use inappropriate methodology is ridiculous. read more

Our dog has been with Unleashed in the City for the past year & started as a puppy. I chose Unleashed in the City particularly because of Max. I had seen him in the park a few times with the pack - while other people were sitting around chatting he was paying close attention to all of the dogs and keeping them active. We met with Kate for an initial meeting; Kate was very thorough & asked many questions about our pup. We were very confident that she would be in good hands with Unleashed & her needs would be met. We were having trouble training her to come when called & some trouble walking her on a leash, we saw improvements immediately. We like the fact that all dogs go through this process, it puts our mind at ease knowing she will be safe because the Unleashed Team is very familiar with all of the dogs. We use all of the Unleashed services: fun runs, adventure hikes, play care & we never hesitate to leave our dog with them for a night, or a week at a time. I love the fact that our dog stays with Kate at her place and gets to be a part of her family while we are away. Once we were stuck at the hospital for an emergency and couldn't make it home - we called Kate & the team, they were there with the Canine Cab to pick her up for a day of play care immediately. I can't stress enough how amazing this was & how happy we are to have someone to look after our pup when we are unable to. I love the fact that twice a week our dog gets to spend a couple hours with the same person. She loves & trusts Max and greets him with excitement every time she sees him. I have been home the odd time when he has dropped her off & she sits at the door and cry's when he leaves, then has a long nap from all of the fun she has had. I know that our dog is happier and has a much better life because of her two fun runs a week & all of the great care she gets at Unleashed. The whole team at Unleashed very friendly & is always available to answer our questions or help us out. Often when out for a walk with my dog I stop by the shop so she can see everyone and grab a toy or treat. I can't imagine our lives without Unleashed in the City & truly thank them for everything they do!! read more

Very nice local shop for dogs that offers all types of services. Grooming boarding etc. I really like how they have a day where local homeless dogs can be adopted and they also hold charities for humane society. You know it's a great place when your dog pulls to go there (Luna, our dog never cannot wait to go in minimum to say hi when we're walking up ossington) they offer multiple services and packages with boarding (sniff and stroll, park play etc) gotta love the titles! The people who work there always give us a report card of how our dog did after boarding daily and how she socialiZed in her "pack" hah they really consider how your dog socialized with the dogs there and they try to acclimate them to daycare first then introduce them to back section where they have a backyard for dogs to play. It is expensive but with all the attentive care and above and beyond they do for your pet it is well worth it. read more

I bought my puppy's collar, harness, leash, wipes, poop bags, shampoo, treats, and all his toys from Unleashed but when I needed to take him to 'playcare' I was refused because the owner had not met him. I could not believe the pretentiousness of needing a meeting before dropping off a puppy for the day. They must be making money hand over fist to so easily turn away clients. I really needed their services and could not have been more disappointed or offended . I will never give them another dime of my money. If you have time to burn kissing up to get your dog in then this is the place for you. If you hate uppity hipsters then go elsewhere. read more

These guys are amazing. We were coming to town for 4-5 day from NYC and wanted to keep our German Shepard, Kaiser, close to us. We looked at many places and called a few. But Kate and her team are hands-down the ultimate Doggie Day Care and Boarding in Toronto. He was taken care of better than any place we have ever been to in NY, Florida, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and other states and cities. They deeply and passionately care about your pet. We received daily updates and pictures... Kate personally texted us back and forth to coordinate pick-up drop-off and beyond. We love all of the staff! Everyone is so warm and friendly and there are so many options for our dog Oliver including high energy hikes and playtimes at the park. This is my first time ever writing a review but I feel as if everyone should know how fantastic Unleashed in the City are. My dog has been going to Unleashed since October 2013 and we had a horrible experience with a prior company (she had an accident in her crate and they left it for me to clean when I came home from work) and were in a pinch for a puppy visit as it was mid-week. Kate and Alex accommodated us without any hesitation and worked with us to ensure my dog was taken care of. They have given us so much advice while we go through the growing pains of raising a puppy and with so much care and attention. They really have a family atmosphere in the shop and will always do the best to accommodate us with all of our requests (and we have a lot). We had much hesitation leaving our brand new puppy with strangers but they updated us with report cards daily and would always spend the time to answer our mid-day phone calls. My dog will be a forever client of Unleashed in the city and I would highly recommend this company to anyone looking to give their dog some exercise and socialization. Sarah read more

A few years ago, I walked by their shop and decided to go in to inquire about dog walking for my sometimes timid shar pei, Rooney. Kate spent a good chunk of time with Roons, getting to know her and asking lots of questions about her personality. For 2 years, Rooney would go on Fun Runs with her dog squad at local parks with either Max or Will (who she loves more than me by a wiiiiiide margin). She has so much fun, running and playing with other fun pups and her pack leader. A year ago, after seeing so many fun pictures of the Adventure Hikes on instagram, I changed her to the beach hikes--mostly bc she overheats in the summer and I thought that would help keep her cool. Though she's 9 years old, she really comes alive like a wee puppy when she heads off to cherry beach or silver birch beach with her crew. They take excellent care of her (she sometimes has sleepovers if I'm out of town), have learned her quirky ways, take gorgeous pictures of her to post on instagram, and leave often hilarious notes in the booklet they leave each day. I'm so lucky that I came across their shop that day and am so super grateful to Kate, Max, and Will for loving Rooney as much as I do! read more

I recently rescued a puppy with the help of Kate at Unleashed in The City. Kate fostered Palmer (along with his 2 sisters) for a few weeks before he came home with me and during his time with Kate he was also part of the Unleashed pack. Palmer is a 7 month old puppy and has been a complete pleasure and joy in my life! Thanks to Kate and the Unleashed Team Palmer was house trained, crate trained and knew most basic commands when I got him. Unleashed has also taught Palmer great social skills hanging with the pack and he is great on off leash adventures. Palmer continues to go to Daycare at Unleashed in The City and every morning he is super excited to walk in the front door to see the gang. They take GREAT care of him and he is always happy and well exercised, each day I also get a report of the places he went and what he did, it is a comforting feeling to know he is in good hands. Kate and her team at Unleashed in The City have been exceptional in all manners to both Palmer and myself. I truly believe Palmers calm nature and social skills etc. have come from the quality dedication that Kate and the team at Unleashed in The City have provided.
