And, NO, according to some of the reviews listed below, I was not one of the favorite ones, nor I ever noticed a favoritism from Jackie when I attended Unleashed starting in 2020. It may not always be in the most methodical way; however, we do not realize that until much later. Educators have a natural talent and eyes to see what we, as students, can't see. They also have a similar talent to make us see the talent or the potential we have regarding anything we are trying to learn. No, this natural ability doesn't make them God but turns them into mentors. Jackie Daniel is one of the kind I described above. What has been construed as unprofessional, is the ability that she has to spot potential and talent and push you the fullest reach you never thought you had. This is what exceptional teachers do. During my apprentice year at Unleashed, there were times when I wanted to give up. Jackie's support, although sometimes direct and harsh, challenged me to stay. Absolutely don't go here for grooming school. Owner yells at students, is mean to the dogs, and doesn't teach. I've read all the negatives reviews here and all those stories sound like my daughters who left there sobbing today after Jackie yelled at her all day and hit her on the head with a hair dryer. Then if you leave a bad review on the Facebook page her friends become unhindged and accuse you of lying and attack you for your personal experience and review. I even tried to call and discuss what was going on with Jackie but she cussed at me and hung up. I don't know how she stays in business. My daughter worked at petsmart for 6 months as a dog washer and she knows how to do most things already and was skilled and experienced and said this place is very unprofessional. I was a student of unleashed last fall. I had high hopes and big plans on becoming a groomer in Oklahoma after recently moving to the state. I enrolled in unleashed only to find out that during the 3.5 months I attended the course, I would be bullied, intimidated, ridiculed, physically and mentally abused by Jackie. She is the most unprofessional "teacher" if you can even call her that! I was taught nothing about proper grooming. Her class has no schedule, no step by step instructions on the anatomy of a dog, the different types of dogs, what the best type of clippers would be if we were to buy them.... No type of curriculum at all. The way in which the dogs were handled by Jackie was very harsh and not the way I, as a student groomer would ever want to treat a dog. All anyone wanted to do is survive the abuse and get the cheaply printed grooming diploma and get the hell out of that place. Just to find out when you do graduate, you are told to forget what you learned with Jackie because nobody grooms like that anymore....it's old school, and that diploma isn't worth a dime or should I say the $3000 you paid for it along with the mental trauma. In my opinion, if unleashed is the "best" that Oklahoma has to offer, I'd say maybe you might think of doing your training in Kansas or Texas! read more

I highly recommend Unleashed grooming as a service or education. I am a current customer and former student. I have witnessed Jackie calm out of control dogs with nothing more than holding the dogs chin in one hand and telling the dog to stop it. Seriously. I was terrified to touch my own Chihuahua's head. Never mind cutting his nails. The vet tech's would toss me a mussel before they would even enter the room. Jackie let him know she was boss and taught me how to not only to cut his nails and touch his head but I was able to brush his teeth. As for becoming a dog groomer after finishing school. It was just not my calling. But I have suggested Unleashed for grooming and education for many friends. My daughter drives 20 minutes and my son drives 60 miles to Unleashed for their dogs to have the best service with Jackie and her students. It saddens me to read some of these reviews posted by former students. Again! I am a current customer. And yes. I consider Jackie a friend. I often stay and visit for a few minutes when I drop off my dog for grooming. I have witnessed some childish students that only half listen to instructions. As for the long review with a picture of Jackie laying on the floor to groom or cut nails. LOL I have seen and helped with dogs that took two people to hold for the service to be done correctly and safely. The only danger I have witnessed in holding a dog down for service Happened to the student. She moved her head and ended up with a buzzed spot from the clippers on her head. It was hair. Excellent experience twice. The owner has cut my dogs nails both times. My dog is very anxious and cries out when she has them done, even if I do it. The owner was so good with her. Talked to her sweet the whole time. Distracted her, and after it was done my dog was happy. She wasn't afraid or shaking like she's been at other places. As a former student I must say, while Jackie is very direct when you mess up, I have never felt bullied by her. I was pregnant during my time there. Jackie was very accommodating to the many doctor appointments I had to miss for due to my being high risk. I told her up front about the appointments and we were able to work out staying extra days to make up for them.l to ensure that I was still getting the training that I needed. I saw a few reviews from students complaining that she used them for free labor. When you enter a technical school, that's how education works. You learn the skill by actually doing it, but the school doesn't pay you. This is the case for any Vo-tech or other trade school I've ever witnessed. The cost of the school is very affordable and you know going into it that you aren't being paid because you are learning to do things. Many schools require for you to pay a fee to take any project or service you learn at school to take home or for personal use (such as paying for supplies to fix a personal truck in a diesel mechanic class); however once you know how to do your own dogs, Jackie does not charge you to bring them to school and complete them during the day. While I was not able to personally groom each type of dog (due to the fact that some breeds don't come in often) I carefully watched any breed I had not done yet, just to learn. I would end my review by saying that I learned basics of grooming that I will be able to continue to develop as I start my own business and Jackie has been a great mentor and has also provided me with some contacts in my area to help grow as needed. read more

hi! i'm a former student from this school. interestingly, my first review was deleted. but after a month or two of working as a groomer in a professional place, i finally have the confidence to make this review and say what i truly think with my name on the review, in hopes that you put more faith in me. PLEASE READ THIS REVIEW before putting your first payment down. if you are disabled/chronically ill, LGTBQ+, or a POC, this is NOT A SAFE PLACE. both me (20) and my parents (who were helping me pay for school) were EXTREMELY disappointed in the experience. THE PROS: you will get experience with clippers and shears, figure out the easiest ways for you to hold dogs just by doing it, and meet other groomers to get support from. you will be in an environment where you'll have to deal will things and be quick on your feet to prepare you for grooming full time as a career. THE CONS: the teacher is highly unprofessional and rude to her students. she was often yelling insults, often boasting how students were scared of her. she picks favorites and treats everyone else with complete disrespect. you will be verbally assaulted, and gaslit. she made MANY racist, transphobic, and homophobic comments. i paid $2,000+ over 3 months to learn the absolute bare minimum. not only was i not taught how to use lift combs properly (which i now use every single day at work, like the majority of groomers) we were not taught how to do schnauzer or cocker cuts, which i had several of in the first WEEK of my new job. the instructor uses her students for free labor, as we do all of the work and she's the one getting paid to quite literally stand around and use her vape pen. students do all the cleaning (mopping the whole store, vacuuming, wiping tables, cleaning cages) for free and she does not help. if you have any trouble following instructions or are at all sensitive this is not the place for you. the teacher does not appear to keep track of who is learning/has learned what, and is super unorganized, not to mention the shop itself is pretty gross. she re-uses towels and blankets from dogs as long as they "don't smell," puts too many dogs in one cage, her cats litter box is always full (until she makes a student empty it), and i never once saw anyone clean the restroom.i have seen her HIT, BITE, KICK, and quick dogs (cut their nails so short they bleed) on purpose. THIS COULD BE YOUR DOG THAT SHE IS DOING THAT TO!!! i understand that when working with animals professionally, sometimes you need to use more force than the average person would on their own pet. that's OKAY, professionals know how to be firm without hurting your pet. however, the way the instructor at unleashed does it is unacceptable and i would NEVER recommend anyone here. she has students mop the floor with bleach while dogs are still there, which is very dangerous for both animals and humans to breathe. it is not safe here.and finally, for those of you that are chronically in pain or disabled, you are ONLY allowed three days out sick. does not matter the reason, if you call in and say you cannot make it more than three times, she will most likely kick you from the school. we had people who couldn't make it because of their kids or other things they couldn't help but she does not care, and will count it against you. it often seemed like she purposefully scheduled too many dogs for some reason, which is hard on those who are easily stressed/fatigued. this career is a lot, but it does not have to be infuriatingly stressful. if you've read all this, thank you for hearing me out. remember this review is just my opinion!! i hope you make the right choice and go the route of a groom tech, bather, or otherwise. just go somewhere where you're at least getting paid, and good luck!!! read more

I took my Maine Coon mix cat in to be shaved day before yesterday. He has been groomed several times and is very easy to handle. I don't know what happened but he has severe bruising on the back of his neck and showing marked pain response on the neck and midway down his spine. He's having trouble walking and is in severe pain. Over $300 vet bill. X-rays don't show any permanent damage, but those usually don't show much in the way of soft tissue issues. He still won't get up and move this morning, even on pain meds. From the reviews it seems like a lot of people had positive experience there. I certainly did not and am worried sick about my sweet boy. I would never, ever recommend this place to anyone! read more

Choose wisely!! As a former student going in with great expectations I quickly learned not everyone treated the same!! According to Jackie level of "liking you" determines what dogs are assigned!! At one point I was basically a dog bather not being assigned dogs to groom while my classmates were being assigned 2&3 dogs sometimes even 4 !! Did not learn to do faces until last 2-3 weeks! Being assigned aggressive dogs to "teach me lesson" is what she told another student!! Assigned difficult dogs intentionally!!!! Some days were good but most were not !! Former not scorned student. My name is Mary Salazar, I attended unleashed pet grooming school in 2014.. I had the privilege of having 2 instructors Jackie Daniel and Kandee T. I did not come into the school thinking it was going to be a walk in the park. I knew it would be challenging at times. They taught me the skills to work with mild mannered dogs, cats, and on occasion an unruly fur client. I was in a class of 5. We came from all walks of life with one goal to complete grooming. One of my class mates shared that she was able to attend thru a program offered thru the state for adults with disabilities. Which I think is amazing that unleashed isn't biased! We were a small class that lead by example from our instructors we were asked to help any classmate who struggled and to work as a team. Some speak of favorites but I only can speak on my experience. At the time I attended unleashed was open on Mondays to only staff who worked by appointment only. I asked if I could come in on Monday's and help. I wanted to learn as much as I could to prepare me for my future as a owner/groomer. I was given the opportunity to do so. The instructors gave me this opportunity to learn in an environment that flowed as a grooming shop. It gave me lessons that I implemented when I opened my shop. I own a grooming shop that I opened 2 weeks after graduation. I groom over 2,000 dogs a year. My shop has been a successful business since 2014. I have become friends with both instructors and continue the friendships today. Am I a favorite I don't see myself as that in my small class of 5. I see a mom of 3 given the opportunity to have the skills to become a successful groomer and business owner. I can't call it free labor because I got hands on training in return. My yorkie was in need of a grooming, but wasn't really sure where to take him after a couple of poor experiences at Petsmart. I discovered Unleashed through Yelp and decided to give them a try. They do not take appointments - it is walk in only from 7am to 9am. For my dog's breed, I was told that it would be $35 for the bath, grooming, ear cleaning, and nail trim. That is awesome...especially considering I paid $80 for the same thing and the tip at Petsmart. Do note that these prices are not listed on the website as mentioned in another review, so definitely call if you need to know the cost ahead of time. Also, they only accept cash or check. I took him over this morning and was only a few minutes shy of 9am but was not turned away - however it seems as though coming in at pretty much the last minute meant he was behind many other dogs because it was not until about 3:30pm that I heard back saying that he was ready to be picked up. When I got him, he was calm, quiet, and happy...the opposite of when I dropped him off (barking and trying to hide behind my legs). One happy pup = one happy pup's mama! He looked fantastic! Super soft, shiny, had every done exactly as I wanted, and was styled with a cute Thanksgiving themed bandana to boot! I am seriously so happy with this place. Being able to get everything I want and need done for a portion of the cost of other groomers is wonderful. Bonus that I can just come in when I need to and not try to figure out an appointment with a groomer's schedule that may not work with my schedule. Before graduation: Jackie (the owner) starts all of her students out easy, with baths and all-over shaves, and eases them into the more intricate cuts over time. I never felt uncomfortable or rushed to move forward in the curriculum. However, I left feeling (almost) fully capable of grooming professionally. In addition to the great education, the environment at Unleashed was fantastic! Jackie, as well as her assistant, Amy, is incredibly helpful and PATIENT. I asked certain questions more than once and heard my classmates do the same, but our instructors always answered them with the most tolerant and professional demeanor. After graduation: I've interviewed at two different grooming shops, and both have told me that they've heard wonderful things about Unleashed. These are our potential employers, and they have nothing but good things to say about this school! The job I decided to take chose me over someone who had FIVE YEARS of experience grooming...at a less sophisticated level. And, on the first day at work, the manager asked me for Jackie's phone number so that she could call and thank her for giving me such good training! Bottom line, if you're willing to show up, follow instruction, and take things seriously, you'll be on your way to being an excellent groomer by the time you graduate. Called to find out about an appt and Candy answered....very friendly and helpful. She advised no appts. just bring my furbaby in between 7am-9am, Monday-Saturday. Brought my Furgus this morning (Sat) at 8am. Very clean shop! Candy was at the desk again very friendly and asked what I wanted done. I advised bath, nail trim, shave belly and overall cleanup. She had me fill out a client info card and confirmed my phone number....at 10:30 got a call my baby was ready. When I picked him up he looked great!! This school is amazing! We take Tux, our schnauzer here. Unleashed has really great prices because they are a school. All you have to do is either make an appointment or come in before 11 and they will take care of you. Jackie is the owner and cares for the animals that come in. Very sweet lady! Last time I was in Tux got a bath and a puppy cut and it was $20! This school also offers hair coloring for dogs, how fun is that? Hi! Former student who graduated after the 3 week Covid shutdown in 2020. In my experience Jackie was a great teacher. I always called her the dog whisper because a dog that would give me so much trouble she could do with ease. I had a good variety of dogs and learned many breed patterns and heads. Others things include grooming 2 bunnies, helping and learning about cat grooming, rodent nail trimming, using color safe hair dye, bow and bandanna making, basic salon setup and strategy, equipment maintenance and other things. The school was always clean when I went there. There are things that I wish I would have received more training in but I can't fault Jackie completely for not having more of those dogs or cuts available. I left school with a solid set of fundamentals that I was easily able to build on. She also helped me find a job after graduation. I took my two Yorkie chiuauaua mixes there for a couple years with fabulous results. However, I don't know if the school has been sold or what has happened, but for the past year the quality has gone down hill. My dogs' cuts have been horrible and lopsided. I finally stopped taking my male there. And started doing him myself because he was so horrible looking after going there. The last time Dec. 1, 2017 i took in my female who looks like a small golden Yorkie. I dropped her off at 7:000 am. Went to pick her up at 4 which was when I was told she would be ready when I called at 2. The student was still working on her when I arrived at 4. She would take 1 snip and wave the scissors around in the air for a 6-7 count while she talked and talked non-stop to the owner and take one snip and repeat again and again. At 4:15 she saw me. Finally at 4:45 my dog was ready. The owner got mad that I paid the $38 without a tip so I finally added $5. I finally got my 6 lb chorkie to the car and noticed one side of her face was well over 1/2 longer than the other. I took her back in and they got angry and said they didn't notice the lengths being difference st first. FINALLY they acknowledge it after I showed it between my fingers and they corrected it. I took her home at 5:15 and 10 minutes later I noticed they hadn't even bathed her, or trimmed her nails! She had been there 10 hours! When I first started taking my dogs there they did a fabulous job and the price was good. Now they charge full price, bully you into tipping the students before you ever see your dog. I take my little Pekingnese dog here, Her name is Cupcake. Jackie Daniel the owner is very nice, friendly. This is a Pet grooming school but they all do an awesome job giving Cupcake a bath, grooming her, trimming her nails. She looks so good when she is done, and smells so good. So glad for the reviews of fellow Yelpers out there, or I would have never known about this place. Took my rescue schnauzer there today and we were all very pleased! I called and got to come in as a walk in. Place was clean and smells great. They took great care of my fur baby. I wasn't sure how she would do since we just got her, but they loved on her and said she did fine. I will definitely be coming back and bringing our other schnauzer to get groomed. read more

Fantastic groomer!! Reasonably priced and clearly posted prices on their website and in the salon. They do only accept cash (maybe check). As a school, I was expecting something different but they were just as put together as a professional business. The front was clean, the girl was polite and very helpful, my dog was ready before the time quoted, and they called to let me know she was ready. When I picked up my pup she was super happy (the last couple places I took her, I could visibly see she was ready to get out). I will definitely be going back...and am looking forward to getting her fur colored next time (for $5 -- can't beat that!). read more
