A fabulously curated selection of just enough clothing for each season with small gifts such as little birthday gifts or hostess gifts along with jewelry and shoes. Just the right amount! Unable or unwilling to take accident insurance, despite claim that they do. Hours wasted with belligerent accounting staff who were unable / unwilling to follow instructions for how to bill accident insurance. Billing basically a disaster. I had appointment for 9am. My therapist walked in at 9am behind him. Sat for a bit. Started massage late. Finished on time to the minute. Charged 25 facility fee, which I assume is for the front desk persons pay hourly. 50 dollars for an extra 30 minutes which was really 15 at most. Co- pay 15. Tipped. So with insurance it only cost me 115.00 for the massage. Can't wait to see what the EOB pays out. Room so small table up against the wall at the feet. It says fees for being late. I should get the same. Massage was meh. Seemed annoyed from get go. Energy indifferent. Try elsewhere. read more

***This review is only in regards to questionable billing practices and interactions with the owner of Unravel. I have had the pleasure of working with some fantastic massage therapists whom I would 100% recommend to my friends and family.*** I've been a patient at unravel for over a year now and come in weekly for massages. I pay my copay at every visit and have never missed a payment. Upon leaving my last session in January, I was informed by the owner (who was covering the front desk) that I had an unpaid balance. I asked why, as I always pay my copays, and she advised that insurance was not picking up a covid PPE related charge they had started billing. Apparently I had 10 unpaid charges from visits stemming back to Oct, yet no one at the front desk had notified me as I checked out each week, and I had not received a single statement in the mail. I questioned if there was some sort of email communication I had missed regarding this new charge (they had recently sent an email about a new upcoming "facility fee" - more details on that later). The owner conceded that there had not been any communication about the new PPE billing practice, but that "there should have been." She cited some "confusion" as to whether she should inform patients, or if the insurance company would. I questioned the validity of that statement because the PPE code is not mandatory to bill. Why would an insurance company notify patients if not all providers would be billing this new code? It seemed like a rather poor excuse. On top of the poor communication regarding the PPE charge, I was also peeved knowing that there have not been significant increased services that would justify the PPE charge. Yes, the staff all wear masks now, but at $5/box for 50 masks, that doesn't justify a $6.57 charge per client, per visit. My dental office for example, put in an entirely new HEPA air handler unit in response to Covid and charged a 1 time fee per patient to help make up for that expense, which I can understand. I know for a fact that Unravel has not made any similar significant investments in response to Covid, so trying to claim that this is the reason for this new fee is just untrue. On top of this interaction, Unravel had recently had sent out an email about a $15 "facility fee" per visit they would begin charging in February only to insurance patients. This fee would be in addition to any cost share from insurance processing, and "was not billable to insurance." The fee was explained as a "facility fee [that] will compensate Unravel Therapeutics for non-professional services and expenses related to massage treatment, including room cleaning, laundry support, equipment, supplies, and administrative services provided by Unravel's employees, including front desk and scheduling services." I'm sorry, but isn't all of that the cost of doing business? Also to only charge insurance patients that fee seems highly unethical. I've worked in medical insurance billing for 10 years and understand that depending on your insurance contract, insurance payments for massage therapy may not be as high as providers would like. However to charge patients an additional out-of-pocket fee on top of their contracted massage rate is a big no no. If providers were allowed to charge additional fees on top of an insurance contracted rate, what incentive would there be for consumers to pay premiums that guarantee that contracted rate? Also I'd like to point out that by definition, Unravel is not a facility, they are a free standing clinic. They do not bill out facility claims (UB-04), they only bill professional claims (CMS-1500). Per RCW 70.01.040 of Washington Legislature "prior to the delivery of non-emergent services, a provider-based clinic that charges a facility fee shall provide a notice to any patient that the clinic is licensed as part of the hospital and the patient may receive a separate charge or billing for the facility component, which may result in a higher out-of-pocket expense." Last time I checked, Unravel is not licensed as part of a hospital, so calling the $15 fee a "facility fee" is completely inaccurate. Overall, between the interaction with the owner and the new $15 "facility fee" it's safe to say I no longer frequent Unravel. Given that I schedule weekly massages throughout the entire year, I am sure a different clinic will be happy to take my business. read more

TD;LR: Avoid Unravel Therapeutics in Magnolia due to their wildly unprofessional and inappropriate billing practices. I received massage therapy from Unravel Therapeutics five times through my insurance. My insurance EOBs say that I should have paid Unravel a total of $29.50. I just checked my credit card statements and I've paid them $36.07 plus $80.00 in tips. Based on this they may have actually been overcharging me. I received a letter today from Unravel's "Pre-Collection Department" that I have an amount of $5.90 that is 120 days overdue and "Your account has recently been brought to our attention..." plus "...your account may be referred to our outside agency...". It's worth noting that to-date I've paid every invoice they've sent me without reviewing; usually the same day I receive their invoice. The last time I received service from Unravel was 111 (not a type) days ago. Not only is their overdue notice wildly incorrect, it appears to be outright incorrect. Avoid Unravel Therapeutics if you're seeking treatment through your health insurance: it's not worth the hassle. read more

I received a massage here in September of 2022, I knowingly paid the $15 insurance administrative fee and a tip. However, I received a brand new bill at the end of September 2023 for PPE for the September 2022 visit. It would have been more appropriate to be charged for this fee up front then wait an entire year. Recommend clarify all fees prior to booking. read more

My husband and I recently went for a massage at Unravel, and it was amazing! From the moment I walked in Noha at the front desk was gracious and offered me refreshments and showed me around. Did you know as an added plus they have some super cute clothes as well as a skin care options?? My masseuse was Megan, and she was very attentive listening to what I needed. Unravel Therapeutics is a wonderful place to go for massages- and they accept major insurance companies that offer massage benefits. The rooms are not your typical spa feel and are somewhat small- but the quality of the massage with most therapists is great. I have seen four of their several staff members and all but one provided a top notch massage. The other was still a quality massage but not one I would book again with. The owner is very welcoming, friendly and it is very clear how much he cares about his patients and his business. There is a small retail side of the store and other medical services are also offered here. There is a great place to go if you have a medical need and want a more nature based approach to healing- one where they will work with you to determine what is causing the pain/ symptoms and fix it vs just giving a quick patch. read more

After nearly two decades of being a customer of this Unravel Therapeutics I can definitely say the new owner, Noha, (owner since Dec 2019) and new front desk staff, Sofie, (started summer 2022) have made it easy for me to say goodbye. In the last 8 months alone the issues are outrageous; billing issues (double charges), scheduling issues (they move your appointment times but don't communicate to you, cancel your appts you but don't inform you, book you for a slot that isn't available), lack of communication (read prior examples), don't follow up when they say they will (I'm still waiting for Sofie to call me back on available appts for Feb that I had asked about in person and on the phone in Dec 2022), blaming customers for their mistakes, inability to take feedback, lying to customers to cover their own ass. My favorite was when the owner, Noha, wrote back to inform me that they "do take our business and customers very seriously" and then proceeded to gaslit me and and come up with all these lies and falsehoods like I 'demand' skin care services that they don't provide and they have 'have accommodated' all my requests. The irony is that I've been getting the same skin care service for over a decade; this is the same service that is listed on their website, and the same service that Sofie informed me they had to increase the price this summer/fall. Additionally, I confirmed with the staff on December 16, 2022, that the service was still available and was told yes and that Sofie and Noha were mistaken. Easy for me to goodbye to these jokesters, but sad to that I didn't get a chance to say a proper goodbyes to my dear friends that I've made there the last nearly 2 decades. I'll end with this. Just because an owner is a woman or POC doesn't mean they are good people or do good business. Always do you research and trust your gut. Actions speak louder than words. I'm taking my feet and money somewhere else, even if it means I'm paying $$$ out of pocket. read more

Terrible. Booked two massages side by side weeks in advance. Was called a week prior and told they had to change the therapists. I said that was fine. Approximately a day before the appointment, they called and canceled our massages. No explanation other than no coverage. This is the second time I've had this experience. I recently had a massage with Tia and it was a wonderful experience. Tia is very knowledgeable and attentive. She took her time to find out what I would like for her to work on and did just that. This is not a review of services but some feedback for the company. I wanted to schedule massages for my husband and I. We are newer to the Magnolia area and would have been new, recurring clients. The woman who answered the phone on the morning of 9/9/21 was very unprofessional. She seemed exasperated from the moment she picked up the phone, as if she were annoyed someone was even calling to schedule an appointment. I advised that I am typically available between 9am and 5pm every weekday... she kept offering times after 5pm even though we had already discussed that wouldn't work. She could have simply said, "My next available appointment during that time frame is on x date at x time" but she seemed incapable of working with someone over the phone to find a good time. I just gave up and didn't schedule anything because it was a very off-putting experience... It seems like you have very positive reviews for your services, please train your staff on customer service or even better, use an online booking service. read more

I am changing my review of this place because they're under new ownership and the owner is committed to customer service and has made many improvements including hiring some new amazing therapists. I had the opportunity to meet her and she's efficient with a friendly & pleasant personality. Therefore it's definitely worth a second chance & Wouldn't be fair to not give her the opportunity to have a fresh start. The location is terrific, there is free parking, a gorgeous boutique inside with unique merchandise that can't be found anywhere else. They also have a little shop downstairs selling skin care products, unique clothing, jewelry and gifts. The massage room I was in could be better and the music could be more zen. Such a diamond in the rough! I've been coming here for years and have seen several of the massage therapists. Even though I don't live in the neighborhood this place is worth driving across town. Everyone I've seen has been skilled and professional. The therapists excel at DEEP tissue massage. Not exactly the most relaxing, but exactly what you need to get the knots out or if you have chronic tension or headaches. I've recommended Unravel to several friends. Decent facials too, especially the ear massage that comes with...yum! Bonus: they take many kinds of insurance with a 'script from your doctor. read more

Magnolia isn't exactly the most convenient place in Seattle, but when you've exhausted Queen Anne, Fremont, and Ballard, the little jaunt up and over the hill is worth it -lots of cute shops and restaurants. And for some reason, it just feels really safe. I imagine Starsky and Hutch flying off of the top of Dravus in their sweet red n' white Gran Torino, runnin' from the law with no where to go in Magnolia. SO - about Unravel. It shares a strip mall with a dry cleaners, a Sub-way, and a (very cute) pet shop. In other words, it doesn't exude "spa attitude" from the front door. Once inside, there's lots of teas, gifts, journals, healthy-snack/vitamin type stuff. They take you upstairs for your appointment. There's a little waiting room, and a wc for you to "do your business" before going in for your appointment. Everything is super clean, very aromatherapied, comfortable, cute, holistic. I've only had massages - but they've all been good. Being super susceptible to tension headaches, my insurance covers most of the $70 tab - which is awesome. I've seen at least five different masseuses, and they all rocked. Strong without killing you (except for maybe one girl who thought she found a tension spot in my shoulder blades and gave me bruises). They were all very respectable of my modesty and kept everything properly covered while they weren't working on it. They also have acupuncture and facials. And, I think they'll let you hang out in their sauna for a couple extra dollars. The staffers are very friendly, low-key, and don't laugh at your wigged-out hair after your appointment is over (I swear masseuses do scalp massages JUST to twist your hair into funky clumps and laugh as you walk out the door). read more

The owners are quite pushy. When my prescription for massage was found to be outdated, I had to cancel my appointment. The guy behind the counter kept pushing with statements like "can't you just call them now and get a new prescription?" (um, no doctor is waiting by the phone, certainly not mine) and "You can pay for it, get your renewal, call us later, we'll run it, and then we'll reimburse you" (also not trusting this to be a squeaky clean solution). The woman who answers the phone answers in mid-conversation, continues her conversation, and eventually get's to you without any professionalism of announcing the store, her name, etc. Very weird. This goes beyond extreme familiarity (which is itself odd). It was confusing and made me think I had a wrong number. The employees, however, are mostly great. I had a massage with a guy who was an obvious smoker, which really ruined it for me, but he's no longer there. The others ranged from very capable to very good. Customer service will bring repeat business. If you concentrate on getting money on a one-off instead of making your customer comfortable, you are not doing yourselves a favor. My advice to the owners is this: You must be the most professional people of the bunch. read more

I have been going to Sheryll for years and she has helped me with chronic shoulder pain. This winter I had a back injury that caused spams and the worst pain I have ever experienced. I am a regular. Really like this place and the wholistic merchandise they sell. Relaxing environment but not really a spa atmosphere like a Gene Juarez full spa, although they do provide spa services and have a sauna. They do bill select insurances. Sheryl gives the best massage I have ever had. I have been to probably dozens of massage therapists across many different businesses including Gene Juarez, Massage Envy, Habitude, various Massage clinics, and chiropractor offices.
