    Facial set up.

Loved my facial from Nikayla! I went with the "rejuvenating facial" because it has more massage included. I definitely felt held, supported and pampered. Thank you Nikayla for being so friendly, gentle and caring with your work

The "lap pool" was 84 degrees which is way too warm for actual lap swimming. The locker situation was also frustrating. Day pass guests can only use lockers on the pool deck, not in the locker room, which defeats the purpose if you come prepared with clothes to change into after showering -- there's nowhere secure or convenient to store your belongings inside the locker room itself. On top of that, the locker room wasn't very clean and robes weren't provided. The pool area is open to all hotel guests, including kids, so it never felt calm or spa-like. Between the crowd, temperature of the pool, and limited amenities, it didn't match the spa experience that was advertised. I frequent hotel spas, and this was one of the most disappointing given the price. It would feel more appropriate at about half the cost, especially since parking isn't validated for day pass guests.

I'm afraid that's not why I'm leaving a review. I'm leaving a review because I've never left a massage feeling less relaxed than when I arrived. It wasn't anything I could ask my provider to adjust, like pressure level, it was just very poorly executed, awkward, and uncomfortable. This was a $325 massage and I would hope the therapists are trained well enough to keep their nails from interfering with the therapy and send you home feeling better than when you arrived. This was my second time visiting and both occasions were similar. Different therapist each time. I'm also disappointed by the owner's responses on reviews here where accusations are made regarding the truthfulness of reported experiences. My sale ID from my receipt is 470227. Penelope is a mismatch for its location. I wish it weren't! What a great opportunity Penelope has here. I'm afraid they should let someone else with more experience operate the space and relocate to somewhere along Aurora where they don't need pesky things like certifications, training, credentials, and amenities. Edit: I received an email response where the business chose to double down on the same type of feedback they provide to others on Yelp. Very dismissive. When all you can do is point a customer to your website as if that resolves issues, I don't know how you continue to attract new customers. Dropped the rating from 2 stars down to 1 star for that reason. !!! 2ND UPDATE: Hoist by their own petard I suppose! They sent a multi-page email threatening me with "defamation, business disparagement, and tortious interference" if I did not take down my review. They scrutinized my booking history (debating whether this was my first or second visit, as my previous visit was booked under my partner's name) and even admitted to digging through my Yelp history to criticize my other reviews. Does this seem like a good response to negative feedback to you? There are other spas at hotels in downtown Seattle, I'll certainly be visiting one of those next time and I recommend you do the same if you don't want to be threatened with legal action if you don't enjoy your massage.

Yes it was 50% higher than the normal day spa treatment on the eastside but after the treatment and experience quite understand the price differential. The lounge was quiet and sublime. The loungers were comfortable and I enjoyed the dried apples and almonds. The decaf tea that they gave was refreshing. The bathroom and locker room are spacious with beautiful natural light. The massage was the best massage I've had (a 50 minute serenity massage). It is nice that the tables adjust for the chest area to make it more comfortable to use and the masseuse Lexi had the right pressure and was so skillful at her job. She took away knots I never knew were present and the heated table and towels were lulling me to sleep and to a deep sense of relaxation I haven't had in a massage before. Early morning appointments are best. By the time I was departing the locker room was much busier taking away some of the charm and serenity. This is a true luxury experience with a price tag to match, but the quality justifies the cost. If you're looking to treat someone special (or just need a high-end escape for yourself), this place delivers. (For me I'll aim to head annually and hope to treat my parents here for an upcoming birthday...)

In the middle of downtown Seattle, I felt I was transported to a very relaxing place. Sorry, I am not great at metaphor. The people working there were very welcoming and friendly. They have many stations for manicures, pedicures, massages, and foot reflexology. When I saw their list of prices and I was surprised by how reasonable they were for their location. As a bigger person who has been walking on the treadmill and working out Orange Theory up to 5 times a week, my feet have been killing me, so I got a foot reflexology massage. To say my feet feel better than they have since I can remember has been an understatement. I plan on going back to Mulan Spa for more feet massages, and to make it part of my regular health routine. This place is totally worth it.

Comfortable beds, blankets. Great pressure. For the head spa, I think it's not bad really. Compared to other Seattle head spas, it's pretty good. If I could suggest an improvement to match the quality abroad, I'd say to do the acupressure when the hair is wet. When it's dry, the therapeutic effect is not as much. And if possible, less use of hair brushes for head massage. Otherwise, I'd come back definitely for massage. Head spas sure but I'm indifferent. I hope the place survives because downtown/belltown could definitely benefit from this.
