They said to leave the machine and they'd have the repairman take a look at it. They said it might be up to 2 weeks. But in just a few days they sent me a text/email saying my machine was ready. I picked it up the next day. Not only was the problem fixed but on the bill it said they had cleaned and oiled my machine. The charge the lady had quoted me was what I was charged and they had done the extra work of cleaning and oiling my machine also. Very nice people to do business with. I would recommend them to anyone wanting a repair on their machine. I used my machine just today and it sews like the wonderful machine it has been since I bought it in 1962. It was a weekday afternoon. I ended up taking that pair of pants to The Perfect Fit (which I happily recommend, by the way). I did, though, make up my mind to go back to Golden Stitch, bringing a shirt to be taken in. At $25, it was a bit steep, but nothing that'll break the bank. Also had another pair of slacks to be hemmed. Now here's the problem. I was told they'd be done "next week," and I've been trying in vain -- for two weeks now -- to get back the clothes I thought belonged to me. On three separate occasions when I dropped by, the store was closed in the middle of the day. Calling ahead is fruitless; nobody answers the phone. I could yammer on and on about how nice the ladies are and so forth, but the operation struck me as pretty unprofessional. Raising the price of a hem from an already healthy $9 up to $10 doesn't help their case. Taking your clothes to Golden Stitch is, frankly, a risk. If you see a confused young man wandering around the square without pants on, it is probably me killing time until I try to pick them up again.

I rushed from the store, I had just bought the trousers at, to his shop. I thought I was going to leave them and pick them up in the morning before the flight. He said hold on. He got the pants hemmed in 15 minutes! Everything he does is always perfect! He loves what he does. Professionalism, politeness, and kindness is what you get at Sotelo's!

Your wedding dress is incredibly important and sentimental, and I would want another bride to have this information before deciding where to trust with hers. I would strongly recommend that brides consider going somewhere else for their wedding dress alterations. I brought my dress in on June 12th. The alterations I needed were fairly simple: taking in the sides slightly and adding a basic bustle. My dress didn't have any tulle or lace. I had plenty of time before my wedding, so I was not expecting a last-minute turnaround. At my final fitting on July 31st, I was surprised to find that no work had been done on my dress. At that final fitting, I was told my dress was the next one in line to be worked on. I followed up again on August 21st to ask when it would be ready and was told September 3rd. I had planned my travel around picking up my dress and was going to be out of town for several weeks on and off leading up to my wedding. When I arrived on September 3rd to pick it up, I was told that the dress had not even been started. I ultimately picked it up on September 8th, and unfortunately, I was heartbroken by the result. The sides that had been taken in were poorly finished. The fabric was clearly visible, and the alterations looked very sloppy. When I brought up my concerns about how the sides had been done, I was told that it was "just how it is." I was disappointed by this response, especially given the amount I had paid for the alterations. Additionally, a large pearl was added to the back of my dress for the bustle without anyone asking or discussing this with me beforehand. When I originally asked about adding a bustle, I was told it could be attached to one of the existing buttons on the dress. A large pearl was never mentioned as an option. My dress had a sleek back with buttons all the way down, and the added pearl significantly changed the look in a way I would not have chosen. I was especially disappointed that this alteration was made without my approval. Overall, I spent $400 and nearly three months of waiting, only to be extremely disappointed with both the process and the final result. The lack of communication, delays, and quality of the alterations caused a great deal of unnecessary stress during an already important and busy time. Based on my experience, I would choose a different alterations shop.
