Let me preface this review by saying I usually love this place. My boyfriend and I discovered it while visiting family two years ago. Since then it's been our go to spot whenever we're in town. In the warmer months they have music and fire pits outside. The drink prices are cheap and the drinks are usually strong, and the food is yummy. However on this visit we unfortunately had our first bad experience. We came in and sat at a table for once. We don't usually but we were really hungry and planning on ordering a lot. We were here the night before thanksgiving. I've heard that it's a huge party night but we were there early and I've never had a problem going out. Well there was a live band when we came in and sat down and we were excited. That excitement quickly turned to disappointment when our drinks came. I just spent 9 hours in a car and I needed a drink, there was no alcohol in this gin and juice I ordered. And my boyfriends gin and tonic was just tonic. Very disappointing after a long day. While we're sipping our juice and fizzy water someone comes over and said there were too many orders so they were closing the kitchen for 45 mins. Great. We were starving. Needless to say we asked for the check. We left disappointed, and wound up getting Burger King and going to bed. Not how I envisioned the night. read more

I work close to Up A Creek so I would meet people there for lunch. After 3 times in a row of completely terrible service I'm done! This place capitalizes on the hip-hop crowd after dark but tries to keep the Classic Rock crowd in there to foot the bill. If there were any other options in Howland these guys would be out of business. read more

Just off of Rte. 82- Market St. exit is this bar and grill. Fantastic atmosphere and good food. Has outdoor seating with flatscreen T.V's, bar and pool table. Prices are very reasonable especially on Monday's (all day Happy Hour). We enjoyed several appetizers to include homemade hot chips topped with buffalo sauce and bleu cheese. The service was great (only our first time there however) and our drinks were never empty. On weekends you can enjoy live music! If looking for a place to have a cold one and some good food, I would recommend giving Up a Creek visit. read more

If this were my first time here, I definitely would not return. It took about 45 mins per round of drinks, and four of the five drinks were beers. The food that they did have available was good, but they were out of multiple items. A friend ordered a burger and wings, and when the burger came out after an hour he was told that they were out of wings. I'm highly disappointed in the management of this restaurant. read more

The ONLY time this place is worth going to is on a weekday in the summer when you can sit on a relatively empty patio (as long as it doesn't smell like dead fish from the creek). Catch it on a weekend and you'll be tripping over d-bags, bros, and trashy guidettes. The bartenders are haggered and rude 9 times out of 10. Buckets of piss water light beers are a special? New years day not really busy thinking service would actually be good and it was excellent! Wing night! Wrong order and second order came out ice cold. No one likes cold wings. I go here a lot. I think it's inviting and the food is good. Service can be hit or miss. When it's not busy service is fine but when they're busy it can take a minute to get a drink. I like the variety of the daily food and drink specials. They are also very giving when it comes to gatherings or hosting benefits. The only complaint I have is that sometimes the cream cheese for the pretzels is not mixed well but that won't stop me from going back..or giving those delicious pretzels another chance. read more

I read the reviews about the service but was appalled to see how bad it really was. We went this past Sunday and the place was about half full around 5 pm. The menu and prices were looking great but our table of three didn't get a chance to sample it. we ordered 2 ice waters and one iced tea that took 15 minutes to get. Once we received our drinks and were ready to place our order but told she would be back. I am guessing the table of the three guys she was flirting with were more important because at this point she had already spent ten minutes at their table. She came back after 5 minutes to take our orders ant that was the end of it. she went to put them in and returned to her "favorite table" for another 10 minutes. she then took another tables order and guess what....? thats right...back to the guys for another ten minutes. My girlfriends mother went to the bar for a refill and even told the bartender why she was getting her own refill...nothing was said to our server. By this time one of our servers flirt buddies is now at the hostess station talking to her!!! Our order was now paced 45 minutes earlier and we had been there for an hour...sorry but we went to cafe 422 and laughed so hard about the service at up a creek that we were comped some peppers in oil....the service there was great....I guess 422 gets the 5 star that up sh*t creek could have had. read more

My boyfriend and I love coming to Up a Creek when we are in town for work. We have been coming here for over 10 years and have always enjoyed the atmosphere, food, drinks, and service. Unfortunately our last visit was extremely disappointing when it came to food and service. We came on a Sunday evening with a few friends. The place was not busy at all, but we sat for a good 30 minutes (after making eye contact with the servers several times) before I finally had to go up to the bar and ask for menus and order drinks. After that we waited a long time for drinks and food and getting service was like pulling teeth. Our food finally came and was lukewarm at best. This place is great...much better than most bars in the area. They have an awesome back patio. The drinks are reasonably priced. I just went there and they have a new drink menu with cool mixed drinks for fall! The food is very good. My only complaint is the service. It's hit or miss. One night you might get great service and another is terrible! But I would say it's worth it to go, especially when it's warm enough to sit on the patio. read more

Food is average bar food..have had the pizza (no thanks) the burgers are OK the apps are good but they are processed fried food so can't do to bad...if you are going for dinner just know that its not a big place and can get loud do to the bar being in the restaurant. Met friends here for dinner there was a band it was so loud that I couldn't hear anyone and they turn the three by four space between are table and our neighbors into a dance floor so I had some ladies butt in my face..I ended up leaving it became to much for me! read more

The atmosphere here is really neat. If you're looking for casual dining, wings, burgers, salads, etc., this is a really good place to go. When my wife and I went here, I got wings and she got fish, both were good. It has a really cool patio area for outside dining in the summer and a lot of TVs inside, much like a sports bar. read more

Went there to see the band and was not disappointed with the entertainment. The patio area was pretty crowded and the service was very slow (which seems to be a common theme for this place). My burger was dry but my wife's pretzel chicken was very good. If you are really hungry, I'd recommend that you eat elsewhere and just come for the entertainment. read more

I work close by and we have ordered carryout and delivery on several occasions. Wasn't until recently that we noticed they had added a service charge to the orders. We were told it was for the "to go containers" we had questioned that and they said there was no extra charge, however when we received our food the charge was applied. $1 per item on our order, needless to say we will never be ordering from there again. My 8 year old son and I used to go there and eat and watch football on Sundays. I used to like their food. Their wings and paninis were my favorite. This past football season my son and I when and with our Steelers jackets on and we were told by one of the waitresses that this was a Browns bar and Steelers fans weren't welcome there. So I'll take my business elsewhere and will probably be better off for it. The service is okay if the place isn't crowded but if it's crowded the service is absolutely terrible. read more

I'll start with some positives. It does have an outside patio in the summer that is nice and the food is decent. However, service is really poor and from 5-11 pm it is a meat market for the 40+ crowd and starting after 10 pm it becomes a young hang out, neither scenario is for me..... I've been going to up a creek for years and my family have had several birthday parties there and always had good service and good food but the last few times I been there the service was terrible and the food was not good at all. I ordered a prime rib sandwich and the meat that was on the sandwich was not prime rib, I told the waitress that it was not prime rib, she said that they had ran out of prime rib. I went in again an ordered the fish dinner and the fish was cold it took me several minutes to get someone to come over to our table to go ask our waitress to come over, when I told her that the fish was cold on the inside she just took my plate and said I'll take it off your bill she didn't even ask me if I wanted anything else. The service have been really bad lately and some of the waitress have been really rude, one of then said that I was in there last week complaining, I told her that I had not been there in months, she said well someone who looks like you. Grease Feast. I have to agree with Bryan C.'s posting. Stopping in at the Creek over the last few years has always been enjoyable for our small family, 2011 not good at all. We even declined a round of free brew to compensate for the poor food and bad service, Labor Day was the bad finale. I hope the management is able to edit their standards and return to yesterday's higher standards in the dining arena. read more

I have lived in Howland for about 10 years and would like to like this place, since it is so close to me. I have only been there about 5 times because everytime I go I leave mad. The food is not bad, I certainly have had worse, but the service and atmosphere is terrible. The last time the bar was slow, lots of empty seats, but I still waited almost 10 minutes to get a simple beer and menu. Then had to wait another 15 minutes to order. The other time the place had a loud drunk trying to start fights with everyone, his friend had to keep telling him to sit down and then apologize for him, while he was still cussing and yelling at people. And he was wearing an Up a Creeek T shirt! I don't know if he worked there or what, but it was bad. I really wish I could like this place, because it certainly has some potential, but it just seems to suck everytime I try it. read more
