We all have our favourites; I know I only go to a couple of car parks in the CBD. But these are the ones that I go to on a casual basis and not for reserved carparking. My first choice for car parks in Adelaide is the Rundle Street U-Park. I find that it is the most cost effective one on the weekend. Although car park prices change all the time, you will generally find that U-parks have a special or flat rate for evenings or weekends, which is great! Whether or not it changes in the future, I do not know? Currently you can get $6 flat rate parks on Friday evenings & Saturdays. I like this car park, as it is centrally located. I generally go to a lot of restaurants and stores on the East End of town. So it is my first car park of choice. There are always a lot of car parks available. Even during peak times like the Fringe. The first couple of floors are reserved for 3-hour parks; I think that this impacts on the availability of parks. Which is a great idea by the Council. The parks themselves are well spaced and there is not any concrete poles/supports to navigate around (which a lot of car parks have). Also, good to mention is that the traffic directions are easily understood. So you are not left thinking, "how do I get our of here?" There are six floors in this car park and it is decorated on the outside with the LED lit panels at night. It's funny that this caused a massive buzz and attention in Adelaide when it was first installed. Looks cool though!

Right up against the main shopping area of the city, U Park on the corner of Rundle and Pultney is…read morelarge and nowhere near as ugly as it was for so many years. It started out ugly because it was originally without barriers on each level, so someone threw herself off one level to her death below; the council decided barriers would fix that problem from happening again. The next this was the general ugliness of the building which after decades was covered with the silver metal fish scales it now has. At night that surface is coloured with computer generated animations - no big deal really - better looking than just a big silver monster. Car parking costs money, not really expensive. The great news is, free, undercover bike racks are also available.

I must say I was impressed with the convenience of this place, especially since it's right in the city on North Terrace. When driving past, you just follow the signs that lead you to a car park around the corner where you leave your car. There was heaps of space so no issues there. You then take the elevator down into the building where their office is located and service was so quick that we were in and out in less than a minute. Perfect!

It was way above what was quoted to me last week for this one day. Wouldn't budge when I pointed it out. Promised the kids a road trip that day and had no time to shop around. At some point, human decency has to be the priority instead of overcharging a customer.

Most early bird prices around the CBD finish around 8:30-9am. This one is extended to 9:30am! Schwing! It's location is more in the business district of Adelaide. But, not far to walk to the Adelaide Central Market or Rundle Mall. Only a few minutes either way. The carpark itself has a whole lot of reserved carparking on the lower levels. So, you should expect to have to drive up to one of the top levels. Not nice if you get dizzy on the way down. This carpark is also a little tight, so I have commonly seen people having to manoeuvre their cars back and forth before they can get it out. Best way is to reverse park if you can do that successfully. Only problem with this carpark is that it is not a 24/7 one. On weekends it's open to 12am.

But for me it was one of the very few places in Adelaide where you can rent motorcycles of different sorts by the day or longer. They have scooters, cruisers, off-roaders and tourers of various capacities to suit. The owners are brothers John and Paul, and they're the friendliest laid-back guys you'll ever want to meet. So much so, in fact, that you might want to go in a day or two early to complete your rental paperwork if you want to maximise your riding time! In my case, I took out a Yamaha XJ6 for a tour of the wonderful back roads and sights of the Adelaide Hills with a local (my brother) as my guide. In a standard day, we covered around 230km. So there's plenty of scope for anyone to get where they want to go within the 350km/day rental allowance.

Sorry but I don't: - buy petrol from here as I think they don't offer cheap prices and I don't want yet another discount card taking up room in the wallet. (Besides I'm happy my local Caltex and Woolworths connections (no matter how contrived). - Or Wok in a Box, personally I don't like the taste. As I've mentioned before 'each to their own'. But I do like: - Happy Wash :-) This is a valuable service which I think is not too expensive even for a four wheel drive. So what I do is make a booking the day before, get up early on a Sunday morning, be there by 9am, hand over the keys, have my Happy Wash rewards card stamped, get a free complimentary coffee, buy myself a healthy apricot bun for breakfast and The Age, sit myself down and wait happily whilst my car gets a complete make over. Note: At the end of the Happy Wash stamps you get a freebie. - Brumbies Bakery, nice and tasty and good coffee. - Subway make a good sandwish/roll and is a reasonably healthy option and a convenient quick lunch or dinner. The staff I have encountered have always been friendly and quick, some are not so happy but who is that early in the morning!

You can feel the energy in this servo, as men religiously wash their cars at Happy Wash, family gather to pick pastries and bread at C Cafe and Brumby's respectively, and school kids form a line for their glass of Chill. The 24 hour supermarket is top notch, for working mums who need a quick pit stop of groceries or for a quick dessert pick me up. Expect quality brands here with the likes of Subway, Wok in a Box and SmokeMart. Other services include an ATM and trailer hire. Like them on Facebook to get promo's on their products.

Handy little car wash with plenty of bays - coin operated, self wash, or a fully automatic no touch…read moreoffering, 'as recommended by BMW' apparently - I thought all the manufacturers were recommending the no touch washes these days, but there we go. Value is ok for the money - like most of these places they frown on you using your own products whilst cleaning, I'm really not sure if that's because they like the extra time you pay for whilst using a soapy brush, or if there really is any issue with reclaiming the water if it's not 'their' soap being used - I like to use a soap that doesn't degrade the polish I use (Meguirs - gotta love the stuff for how it makes a car look) so I tend to run in for a splash down and chamois after, rather than a full wash, but if you're not as fussy as me the standard soaps and spray polish will leave your car thoroughly sparkling.

Never realised how easy and quick they are to use otherwise I would have been doing it before. For under $10 I can get my car back to looking respectable for the road. The guy at this particular place was very friendly even offering me a chamois to use after using one of the bay's to self wash. Yup, this is cheap one for after-hours. Uparks have always been my go to in the CBD. As I have said in previous reviews, I choose to park here as the Adelaide City Council owns them and the money goes back to the city rather than a private company. This car park has great afterhour rates. As of the date of this review you can park here after hours for $7 flat fee: Mon - Thurs 4pm - 6am Fri 4pm - 12am Sat - 12am - Sun 12am Sun - 12am - Mon 6am It is not centrally located in the CBD, but really doesn't take that long to walk up either Currie or Hindley street to hit King William. Oh, do note that you will need to enter this carpark from the Morphett Street Entry. So, go around Light Square if you need to manoeuvre. The car parks are well spaced, but this is only a one story car park. So it does fill up quite fast. Worth checking for a space though due to the rates. Just a little heads up for the ladies parking here. Bring a friend with you when you park here at night. I have sometimes seen some interesting characters sheltering in here. I've never had any trouble, but better be safe! Apart from that, I park here very regularly and do recommend it as a cheap option if you are hitting down during the night!
