Bob upbin is well educated. Personally, my family likes him. But organized he is not, most likely he wrote the above review. Also, motivated he is not. If there is a mistake he tends to let the client do the leg work.
My most recent experience was walking into an audit with him[something that good accountants and lawyers do not allow]. He allowed the auditor and judge to pepper with questions without objecting once.
He was unaware of the current state of small claims court procedure and as a result very personal information was published on the net. It was also as a result of his less than inspired defense raised regarding taxes due.
In my possession, are various letters that I should accompany him to the audit because he did not know the facts. He allowed the auditor to ask whatever questions she wanted without his being the person who presented the facts. He had to take a break mid-audit to ascertain where a major part of the income was derived. Therein lay a major mistake. The entire experience was a nightmare.
This could have been avoided had he acted competently and was conversant with the facts of the case. This could have been avoided had he been mildly acquainted with the facts of the case.
When we tried to get the negative information expunged as not relevant, hostile,inappropriate and discriminatory, a new procedure without not even the Judge chided Bob for not knowing the new Internet Publication rules.
Bob was too cheap to pay a computer person to push down the case.
Too cheap and cavalier about hiring an attorney to fix his mistake. This hostile Judge effectively slandered me after saying I was probably the smartest person in the room to which I respond yes. I had to challenge her on points of law because Bob would not.
I am afraid he is forcing my hand with a complaint to the licensing board or a damages law suit.
Supposedly, he has no accountant malpractice insurance and by the way he has been practicing accounting, I would highly suggest he get some. He is associated with Garden City CPA, which according to Manta.com, grossed 300k. I am not sure what the relationship there is. They should get malpractice insurance too.
The staff is hideous. Avoid Elizabeth Machado like the plague. Not organized, not computer saavy and not very bright. He has one competent assistant, Lauren, use her.
All in all it is a shame that someone with a great intellect moves at a snails pace, comes in unprepared, and is unprepared to take responsibility and spend the money to correct egregious errors. This was leveled at him by a judge in a letter not just by me.
Compounding my frustration, I suggested that we handle the deduction to begin with in any manner, wherein, he assured me, that this is the best way not to get audited.
At his rates of $700, unless this is complex, run to H.R. for simple returns. read more
