I've been a client of Dimov Tax for nearly 10 years, but my recent experience has been extremely disappointing. During the past five years, I've noticed a clear shift in how the firm operates--communication has declined, staff turnover has increased, and overall service quality has dropped. After paying nearly $1,800 upfront for my 2025 business and personal tax returns, I experienced over a month of delays with little to no clear communication. Despite multiple follow-ups, I was repeatedly asked for information I had already provided, which showed a lack of internal coordination. On top of that, I was asked to sign an engagement letter late in the process, which was not properly delivered or explained. As a client of nearly 10 years, it made no sense to receive a generic engagement letter outlining services I've long been familiar with. There also appears to be a high turnover of staff. I was reassigned multiple times, and each new person seemed unfamiliar with my account, leading to redundant questions and confusion about my LLC structure. It felt like I had to restart the process repeatedly. It's also extremely difficult to get George Dimov on the phone, and emails often go unanswered. At this point, he comes across as an absentee owner, with much of the work seemingly outsourced to staff abroad who are not aligned or familiar with long-term clients. For a firm handling time-sensitive financial matters, that level of disconnect is frustrating. Even more concerning, there was a separate incident involving a former employee, Bob Liu, who went rogue and took client information, including mine. He processed one of my tax returns independently, and to this day I have never received a copy of that return. I had to notify George myself, as he was not aware of the situation. This directly impacted me by delaying a construction loan process I was pursuing with a bank. Most recently, after having over three months to prepare my returns, the firm still filed my tax return incorrectly. That was the final straw for me, and I ultimately decided to terminate my relationship with them. I also ended my payroll services with them. Despite paying $100 per month automatically for 38 months, they claimed I owed an "outstanding balance of $5,700 for 38 months of services." This was completely false, as I have proof of every payment. This situation highlights the disorganization of the firm and the constant turnover of staff who clearly are not aligned or aware of long-term client accounts. Overall, I can no longer recommend this firm, especially for clients with multiple entities or complex tax situations. P.S. The reviews here feel misleading. I've noticed that the owner is quick to respond publicly to reviews, yet does not follow up with his actual clients. Absolutely do not hire this firm - as you can see from either 1 star or 5 star reviews - who you get assigned to makes all the difference. Staff turnover is insanely high and there is no internal coordination. This resulted in our engagement to amend our 2024 review for missing depreciation being completely ignored. We received an amended return that asked us to pay 22k in extra tax because the new accountant thought the return was to "update nyc" to a full year of income and avoid risk even though we had a clear move date. You will never be able to talk to George Dimov - he completely ghosts you after the sale. The accountants also make silly errors constantly you have to bring up and correct. This is on top of the lack of communication, hitting deadlines, etc that I previously complained about to even get the accountants to start working on my file. If you want to babysit someone the entire time and make it 100x harder to do your taxes than doing it yourself - this is the place to waste your money. read more

My experience with Dimov was so terrible. I called and asked if someone could do my business taxes. I spoke to a secretary that took my info and sent me a basic questionnaire. She assured me that someone would be calling me to discuss what I was looking for in detail. No one ever called. But they did ask for payment via email before I was even able to speak with anyone. I paid because based on the reviews they seemed reputable. After about a week, *I* had to reach out (only was able to speak with the secretary again). They connected me to an accountant named Patrick Hayes who then contacted me via email. I asked if we could speak over the phone, so that I could explain what I wanted. No response. I had to reach out again and ask what was going on. He responded by just sending me a form. The wrong form. It was very clear that Patrick had no idea what I was asking for, which made complete sense since we never even spoke and he was trying to do my taxes based on a generic 4-5 item questionnaire. I tried to explain a little bit further via email but told him that we would need to talk eventually make sure we were on the same page. He (email) responded by asking for an additional $1500 to do something I did not ask for and never responded to my request to speak over the phone. I finally asked for a refund. I did not get it until maybe 1-2 weeks later after contacting them again for it. Not only did these people act allergic to speaking on the phone, but every single step of this process, including the refund, I had to reach out to them to move it a long. They did NOTHING unless I sent a ping. Honestly, I think this business is shady and I don't believe any of these good reviews. A business who is doing complicated taxes based on a generic questionnaire and never speaking with their clients verbally is not going to get it right most of the time. They deserve negative stars. read more

I started using George when I started my business in 2017. We talked on the phone, he was attentive, and his team communicated quickly and did their work in a timely fashion. Over the years, it's gotten more distant, the team has grown, and it's become unclear whether George is even overseeing the company anymore. At this point, I'm convinced the company has been sold. Every personality feels fabricated, with what seem like fake phone numbers and photos, and I question whether the responses are even coming from real people or AI. I've paid them for services and they have completely failed to execute, ignoring required filings to the point where deadlines passed, including the opportunity to file an extension. The only time they respond is when I mention contacting consumer protection. At this point, I consider this company to be a fraud and would strongly caution anyone considering using them. read more

My return isn't super straightforward, there are kids, houses, investments (domestic and international), + a few other random things and it's been such a straightforward process. Answer a survey. The biggest tax nightmare in my life! Not only I was charged 2000$ for income tax return, as soon as I made the payment, all the communications stopped.Literally no-one answers ! Call, email ... Anywhere! The only reason I signed up for their service was to use their expertise for my RSU planning, and complexities of my capital gain. They never even setup a meeting to discuss those. Tax deadline is tomorrow, and nothing has happened & I'm facing penalty. I wish there were some fair reviews before I signed up and would've avoided all these drama, the money that I lost, and the penalty that I'm facing. NO NOT trust Dimov tax associates. The lack of communication and incompetence of everyone I managed to speak to was appalling. I reached out to inquire about tax services on March 2nd, which I do acknowledge is a little late, but there as no indication from anyone at Dimov tax that timing would be an issue so we decided to move forward. Our taxes were not going to be complicated for 2025, we were just hoping to start a relationship with a tax expert for future filings. When April 1 rolled around and I still hadn't heard anything I tried to follow up and got no response. The phone number they provide is to a general answering service, with no way to leave a voicemail for the specific person you are looking to contact. I tried to get someone to contact me and no one would. Then on April 13th I was informed that they filed an extension on our behalf without consulting us first. Looking at their verification, they actually filed this extension on April 1st, and did not tell us until two days before the deadline. The only way I was able to get someone to talk to me on the phone and actually answer my questions was to call the general number every hour leaving the same message demanding to speak to someone about our return. It took about 4 hours. While I was waiting just out of curiosity I put our information into turbotax to get a sense of what we owed, and it came up with the same numbers that the "tax expert" we were paired with did. When we finally had our phone call with him on the evening of April 15th, he had nothing to add to the conversation and seemed to just be parroting what was on the paper. It would have been smarter to just stick with turbotax, and much cheaper. As some other bad reviews and reddit users have speculated, the positive reviews here appear to be paid for. I also have no doubt George himself will reply to this review, as he seems to spend more time responding to online reviews than actually ensuring his company functions properly. Like I said, I understand that March 2nd was probably a little late to get started on our tax filing, and I could have tried following up before April, but for a relatively straightforward tax situation I am appalled at the way we were treated. read more

I have used this company for years and I have to tell you that they are the best in class. I am ashamed to say I tried to "cheat" on them and have another accountant take a look at my bookkeeping for a few months, but I quickly found that I needed to go right back to my team at Dimov. Really great level of support and accommodation. I think the big differentiator between Dimov and others is that any time there is some type of issue, the team is immediately flexible and responsive, going out of their way to help me.
