I have long hair that can be anywhere from wavy to just downright messy curls, it's changed over the years. Molly has always made sure to give me the cut that would flatter it most if it air-dried or blow dried myself, not just when it was professionally blown out leaving the salon. I tell her how I usually would do it and she makes sure that the cut works best for that. She has always given me honest opinions or when I thought about coloring it or doing a gloss. I loved that she didn't push me at all for any sort of color even though it would obviously be much more expensive. Before Salon Gatto, over the years, I've gone to other salons closer to home or near work when I was in a pinch or I've seen other hair stylists at Salon Gatto before I found Molly, (I'm sorry but I can't remember any names!) They were always wonderful and I definitely left happy but Molly is my favorite. She is great at her job, not overly talkative (this is a time to RELAX for me) and sweet and is honest. Am I fangirling?? Probably. They have two locations and just opened a whole new second floor at their original location by the Path train, so I love to see them growing and growing!! Other little great things about Salon Gatto: -they have a lovely drink menu that they bring you out right away, which makes visits here feel even more like a treat. -they hair wash is thorough and they will almost always include a really nice head massage. I had let her know what my prior hair stylist has done showing her these specific instructions: Look for someone who specializes in blondes and lived in color. We would do dimensional highlights and then a smudge root with redken shades eq 6n and tone with 9vg 9nb 9nw for 3/5 minutes for a neutral bright blonde! She responded to these instructions- "Your past hairstylist and I speak the same language" a handful of times so I felt confident in her ability. I also mentioned to her that I liked my money piece blended, and she responded: "That is great you have a preference, but I am going to do it my way." Ultimately, I wanted it blended throughout. Unfortunately, my hair did turn out streaky. I expressed this to her, and she tried to provide a reason to justify it making me feel bad speaking up and left the salon with a gut feeling but wanted to try to trust her judgment. Once I got home, I felt even more unhappy. I did reach out to my hairstylist in Florida and she reassured me that my hair should not look like this based on the photos and instructions I provided her, let alone for any professional salon. When reaching out to the salon, they tried to rectify either having me go back to Nicole or going to another stylist they selected. I did look at the other stylist's work but felt hesitant and knew I needed to feel confident with the next person who touched my hair. Unfortunately, Nicole does advertise in her bio: "Get the Blonde you were Born with" so please be careful when going to this salon as this is complete false advertising and could have achieved this look with box dye, yet I am in $300 I won't get back.
